About the video, Tyler said, “It was so dope getting to work with legends Quavo and Ty Dolla who both killed it in the video for “If I Fall”, which has a sick sci-fi feel that brings you into the world of Transformers. The sets were epic, it felt like we were on Cybertron.”

Tyler also edited the video alongside Elizabeth Saltzman. “It’s kind of crazy directing your own music video when you are also singing on it, playing the drums, editing the cut, and creating the visual effects. Being so integrated in the entire process has been insane but amazing,” Tyler gushed. “This video is actually the first of its kind for my upcoming audio-visual project Are We Dreaming, which I direct and create all the visuals for, as well as produce the music which spans many genres but is primarily centered around bass music and hip hop. Today, GRAMMY Award-winning artist Bilal unveils new single “Tell Me,” the latest from his forthcoming album Adjust Brightness, out September 27. Following the success of his June Black Music Month release, Live at Glasshaus featuring Questlove, Common, and Robert Glasper, Bilal is back with his first album of new music in eight years. The new work features 11 brand-new tracks that will take listeners on his most daring musical journey yet, marking a bold step forward in Bilal’s already innovative sound. 

“Tell Me” is a standout piece from Adjust Brightness, offering a glimpse into the forward-thinking sonic journey Bilal has crafted. The mesmerizing layered vocals are both intimate and raw, creating an abstract yet captivating listening experience. The track deconstructs traditional love ballads, weaving in unconventional structures while retaining a haunting emotional pull. Though it carries the bare and natural essence of a demo, “Tell Me” is masterfully produced, with every sonic detail honed to perfection.

“I realized a long time ago that, with the specter of AI and streaming, we risk losing our humanity,” says Bilal. “With Adjust Brightness, it was like: let’s make some shit that is going to confuse the damn computer. We’re bringing a love frequency — emphasizing the warmth, the love. It’s an intimate record.”

Eight years following 2015’s In Another Life, a collaboration with Adrian Younge that drew from the psychedelic verve of vintage funk, Adjust Brightness marks a bold new chapter for Bilal. This album is a giant step forward, as Bilal merges his organic, soulful roots with experimental electronic influences inspired by artists like Aphex Twin, Stereolab, and Jai Paul. The creation of Adjust Brightness was deeply inspired by a period of musical and visual experimentation. Bilal began to approach his music much like a painter approaches a canvas — focusing on moods, textures, and atmospheres rather than traditional song forms. His experiences with experimental jazz and live performances fed into this avant-garde direction, and tracks like “Sunshine” and “Humility” highlight his innovative use of atmospheric grooves, intricate beats, and sonic manipulation. Though he’s venturing into new territory, the album retains the warmth, intimacy, and emotional core that have always defined Bilal’s artistry.

The late Rich Homie Quan, who passed away September 5, will have the first posthumous track, “Song Cry”, released on the day of Quan’s memorial services in Atlanta today(September 17).

Song Cry is a real personal and emotional effort from Quan, who recognizes the pitfalls and downsides of fame and celebrity status.

“Aye, this one here personal,” he says in the intro. “I know a lot of my songs, y’all don’t take serious in a way, but I want y’all to turn this one up.”

The song comes on the day of Quan’s funeral in College Park, GA, where the expected crowd is anticipated to shut down several roads in the Southside of Metro Atlanta.

The funeral, which is being termed a “celebration of life,” is taking place at World Changers Church International. Fans will also be able to view the rapper’s body beforehand through purchasing tickets. After the funeral, there will be a repass celebrating Rich Homie Quan’s life at The Bank, a club-like venue in Atlanta.

Even though an autopsy was recently completed, his cause of death has not been made publicly known.

Rich Homie Quan was only 34 years old.

The Pink Friday 2 deluxe is being scrapped. That’s because Nicki Minaj is blessing fans with Pink Friday 3.

Minaj was going to deliver the PF2: Gag City Reloaded deluxe edition last week, but that has pivoted into the release of Pink Friday 3.

“Instead of doing a DELUXE to Pink Friday 2, I’ve decided to do a brand new album. I’ll still incorporate new songs like #Mamita & [The ‘anxiety’ song] for the remainder of the tour tho…and I’ll announce the new date within the next couple weeks,” Minaj announced. “The new music is just too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album. Last night, the songs I recorded were just way too iconic. I love you guys so much. You know that. I know you do. I’ll still give you something leading up to the announcement, so no worries.”

She added, “PF3 is about to do PRECISELY wtf BEEN needed to be done. TRUST ME BARBZ. IM SO EXCITED. BLESSED. LOVED (by the Barbz) & fortunately (for the Barbz & me), I’ve learned A LOT since 12/08/23. PF2 means so much to me. Detroit rapper Babyface Ray is set to release his new album, The Kid That Did, this Friday, September 13th. Global rap icon Eminem is set to return to the MTV Video Music Awards, opening the 2024 show live from New York’s UBS Arena on Wednesday, September 11th at 8 PM ET/PT. The 15-time GRAMMY® winner will deliver the first TV performance of tracks from his newly released 12th studio album, The Death of Slim Shady.

Eminem, who is tied with Peter Gabriel for the most Moon Persons wins, last opened the VMAs in 2010 with a memorable rendition of “Not Afraid” and a powerful duet with Rihanna for “Love the Way You Lie.” This year, he leads with eight nominations, including “Video of the Year,” “Best Hip-Hop,” “Song of the Summer,” and “VMAs Most Iconic Performance” for his 2000 medley featuring over 100 look-alikes.

Securing even one win would cement Eminem’s legacy as the most celebrated male artist in VMA history. He already holds the record for the most wins by a rap artist and, with 67 nominations, is the second most-nominated artist, trailing only Madonna.

Today, from the late, legendary Juice WRLD comes The Pre-Party, a two-pack of highly anticipated songs fans have been trading notes about for years. The surprise set pairs luxe emo-rap cut “World Tour (Aquafina)” with “Lightyears” featuring Young Thug, which has a slight country sway to it. Juice previewed “World Tour (Aquafina)” on Instagram Live back in 2018, leaving listeners wondering if they’d ever hear the official release. Now, they can listen closely as the Chicago star inhales at the top of the track, then swan-dives through DJ Relentt’s jewel-tone synths into a blissed-out fever dream that rolls drugs, sex, and threats into a technicolor blur: “I can’t feel my tongue, shorty, I’m off the moll’, yeah / I still see the snakes, n****, run inside, yeah.”

“Lightyears” takes a different tack, mixing downcast guitar with booming bass while the two rap visionaries paint a modern picture of class and excess. “Taking trips off the Percs, I be sky high / In the sky sippin’ on red lean like it’s red wine,” Juice coos, while Young Thug flexes, “Ride big Bentleys everywhere that I go / Keep the Lamborghini parked at the bank though.” The beat comes courtesy of longtime Juice friend and collaborator Nick Mira. 

The latter song has also been the subject of much speculation. Before Juice’s passing, Thug confirmed the two had more songs in the works, and their chemistry has been affirmed time and again, from Future’s “Red Bentley” (2018), to Juice’s “On God” (2019), to their collab track “Bad Boy” (2021), on through Thug’s “Money” featuring Nicki Minaj (2023) – to name a few. Mira’s involvement with “Lightyears” upped the anticipation — he’s had multiple songs on every Juice album to date, including Top 10 hits “Lucid Dreams,” “Bandit,” and “Smile.”

Guess who’s back? It’s EZ & Trilla, your favorite twins from Atlanta. They just dropped a new single called “Rock-A-Bye Baby“, and it’s already making waves. Since its video dropped in mid-August, the track has been racking up serious numbers on YouTube, proving once again why these two are a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. But this time, they didn’t come alone; they brought Sensei Kyh along for the ride, adding a whole new flavor to their already unique sound.

So what’s the vibe with “Rock-A-Bye Baby”? If you’ve ever heard an EZ & Trilla track before, you know these two aren’t just riding trends—they’re creating their own lane. EZ, the older twin by a whole two minutes, jokes about how people expect them to be perfectly in sync all the time. But the truth is, they have this crazy twin telepathy that makes their music feel like a conversation. “We barely need to talk in the studio,” EZ says with a smile. “I’ll be thinking something, and Trilla’s already playing it.”

The duo’s independent label, Boss Club Dynasty, is the engine behind their hustle. They’re not signed to a major label, and they’re proud of it. Their journey began when they were just 12 years old. They were messing around with a beat-making program called REASONS and recording tracks with a cheap computer mic. Trilla laughs, remembering, “We’d cover the mic with three socks to try and make it sound better.” It wasn’t fancy, but it was a start. When they turned 15, their dad, a resourceful mechanic, even transformed part of his shop into a studio for them. EZ gets a little nostalgic as he recalls, “It wasn’t much to look at, but it was ours. That’s where we really found our groove.”

Fast forward to today, all that hard work? It’s paid off big time. Their last single, “Vintage”, was a hit, no doubt. But “Rock-A-Bye Baby”? This one feels different. It’s on another level. The track itself has this hypnotic vibe, heavy bass, and a slow, haunting melody. Trust us, it’ll get stuck in your head. And with Sensei Kyh featured on it? The song takes on a whole new life. Trilla says, “Kyh brought his own flavor. We made the cake, and he brought the icing.”

Trilla puts it simply: “BET Awards, Billboard hits, collaborations with the best. We’re going all the way.”

Want their advice for breaking into the music scene? “Don’t tell everyone your plans. Some folks will try to bring you down the second they know what you’re working on.” EZ adds, “Stay focused, stay hungry, keep pushing.” Their bond as twins is a huge part of their success. Trilla explains, “We’ve always got each other’s back. When you’re in sync like that, it’s unstoppable. We’re like two halves of the same whole.”

This week’s MLB playlist comes from Terrance. California born utility man for the Cleveland Guardians organization, former USC star Tyresse Turner. The switch hitting right hander was recruited to the Guardians’ High-A Lake County Captains before being shifted to the Lynchburg Hillcats, hitting .238 with 23 RBIs and 30 stolen bases with both teams that year.

This year, the 24-year-old Turner took his talents to the Double-A Akron Rubberducks(another Cleveland Guardians affiliate) and back to Lake County, where he now boasts a .250 batting average, with 25 RBIs including four homers in 68 games. Turner was mainly used as an infielder in his first year, playing all positions except first first base for the Captains and the Hillcats, but was switched to left field and utilized as a designated hitter half of his time on the field for the Rubberducks and the Captains in 2024.

Even as a West Coaster, Turner still has a Dirty South musical taste, with heavy NoCap, Gunna, Rod Wave and others from South of the Mason/Dixon. He still reps the Golden State with some Nipsey and Buddy collaboration flavors. Having worked with the likes of Boslen and 2KBABY, he’s a weapon in the studio as much as he is on the court. This summer he’s released a string of singles that serve unparalleled beats and honest lyrics with no room for apologies. Today’s track, “I Know” is no different. First we’d like to start off by asking what city do you rep these days? Being from Toronto, living in France, and roots in Ghana – you’re a global guy.
I’ll always rep Scarborough. It doesn’t matter how far or where I go, East Scarborough made me who I am.

Tell us about your latest release, “I Know”. What’s the story behind this one?
I wrote this song in Paris two years ago on my first Europe tour. It encapsulates the time in my life where I was in a situationship that probably wasn’t healthy but was lit.

For all the singles you’ve released this summer, what did the creative process look like? Did you collaborate with anyone in the studio?
I keep my musical circle super tight. This next release I did everything on, but even on the others it’s really just my manager and creative guy, and we craft the songs together from start to finish.

Your sound is multi-dimensional, with various genres and flavors mixed in. What are some of your influences that have shaped your music?
I listen to everything. I think that’s what has shaped and continues to shape my sound the most. From Sam Cook, to Drake, to Fela, to Adele. I think with anything, the wider your base of knowledge is, the more you can do in that space.

You have quite an interesting resume as both an artist and an athlete. When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
And same question but in regards to playing pro volleyball.I’ve always been around music. Growing up, I played the piano, guitar, sang, and even played the trombone. Making the switch to make music professionally came in my last year of high school – I had been working as a producer in my home studio recording local artists. I started to experiment with recording myself and never looked back. Volleyball, for me, came a little later than others that play the sport. I started playing when I was 15 and honestly, I was terrible. I had a 15-inch vertical. Brian Singh, who was my coach throughout my youth career, played a crucial part in my development, and I wouldn’t be the player I am without him.

What does a typical day look like juggling music and sports full time?
I typically have two practices a day so one early morning weight lift and then another practice later in the afternoon where I scrimmage. I’ll come back home, shower, eat, and then begin my day with my music work. Since I am 9 hours ahead of LA where the label is and 6 hours ahead of Toronto time, I won’t start with the music stuff until about 6pm my time.

When you’re warming up on the court, what are you listening to?
It’s funny actually, most people would think I’m listening to some crazy rap pump up song but I’m really listening to some slow old-school Blues or R&B. Nina Simone is definitely in the rotation.

What’s next – are these singles leading up to a larger body of work? 
I have a larger body of work on the way and I’m super excited to share it with all my supporters.

When will we be able to see you live?
Tough to say honestly, but since I’m now playing Pro and spending a lot of time overseas, I’d really like to do a show out here sometime.

Alexander Oswald Mowbray, commonly known as Lecky, is an artist of Australian and Fijian descent, distinguished for his talents as a rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. After years of sharing his music online for free, Lecky released his second studio album, “Lovers 2 Enemies,” in November 2023 under the LeckyENT label. This album garnered both critical praise and commercial success, featuring notable singles such as “Love & Lust,” “Goku,” and “Volkanovski.” In February 2024, he continued his musical journey with the release of his third studio album, “Enemies 2 Lovers,” also under LeckyENT, which includes popular tracks like “Secrets,” “24 Hours,” and “Minute Maid.” In addition to his solo projects, he is affiliated with the Melbourne-based hip hop collective LeckyENT.

Born on November 8, 2002, in Melbourne, Australia, Mowbray has Fijian ancestry. He was raised in an Australian family with Fijian heritage, alongside two siblings. His upbringing in Melbourne was fraught with difficulties, including his father’s imprisonment, which resulted in his placement in a permanent home by the Department of Human Services. Never one be far removed from drama, Tekashi 6ix9ine has decided to use his drama to generate some views, and this time, it involves his former flame, singer Yailin La Mas Viral. The troubled and now wanted Brooklyn rapper dropped “Repuesta,” a diss track, along with a video yesterday (Sept. 4) aimed at an ex-girlfriend and fellow artist, Yailin La Mas Viral and the ‘Get The Strap” rapper goes in on his former lover.

Even though all of the lyrics are in Spanish(and can understood in depth by those who speak the language), the visual for Repuesta(which means response) gives viewers 6ix9ine’s perception of the rocky relationship between the two artists. Also, Tekashi, known for his flamboyant wear and hairstyles, toned it down this time around, donning a black suit while casually spitting his verses instead of his signature screaming style.

The visual includes footage of the rapper and Yailin La Mas Viral when they were still together. The duo dated throughout 2023 before ending things in August. Footage also includes 6ix9ine interacting with Yailin La Mas Viral’s son, whom she shares with Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA. The relationship publicly went sour when it was reported that 6ix9ine was arrested in the Dominican Republic on domestic violence charges back in January after Yailin’s mother made a report.
