Never one be far removed from drama, Tekashi 6ix9ine has decided to use his drama to generate some views, and this time, it involves his former flame, singer Yailin La Mas Viral. The troubled and now wanted Brooklyn rapper dropped “Repuesta,” a diss track, along with a video yesterday (Sept. 4) aimed at an ex-girlfriend and fellow artist, Yailin La Mas Viral and the ‘Get The Strap” rapper goes in on his former lover.

Even though all of the lyrics are in Spanish(and can understood in depth by those who speak the language), the visual for Repuesta(which means response) gives viewers 6ix9ine’s perception of the rocky relationship between the two artists. Also, Tekashi, known for his flamboyant wear and hairstyles, toned it down this time around, donning a black suit while casually spitting his verses instead of his signature screaming style.

The visual includes footage of the rapper and Yailin La Mas Viral when they were still together. The duo dated throughout 2023 before ending things in August. Footage also includes 6ix9ine interacting with Yailin La Mas Viral’s son, whom she shares with Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA. The relationship publicly went sour when it was reported that 6ix9ine was arrested in the Dominican Republic on domestic violence charges back in January after Yailin’s mother made a report.

A Rise in the World of Korean Hip-Hop

Lee YoungJi’s journey to stardom is nothing short of extraordinary. Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, she was drawn to music from a young age, finding inspiration in the dynamic sounds of hip-hop and R&B. Her big break came in 2019 when she competed in the popular television competition “High School Rapper.” Her undeniable talent, combined with her charismatic stage presence, quickly set her apart from the competition. Lee YoungJi’s victory on the show was a turning point, thrusting her into the spotlight and marking the beginning of her rise as a powerhouse in Korean hip-hop.

However, it was her subsequent victory on “Show Me the Money 11” that truly cemented her status as a force to be reckoned with. The show, known for its intense competition and high stakes, has long been a proving ground for aspiring hip-hop artists in South Korea. Lee YoungJi’s win was not just a personal triumph; it was a significant moment for the Korean hip-hop scene. As a female rapper succeeding in a genre often dominated by men, she broke barriers and challenged stereotypes, redefining what it means to be a successful artist in South Korea.

The “All Or Nothing” Tour: A Cultural Exchange Through Music

The “All Or Nothing” tour marks a major milestone in Lee YoungJi’s career. It’s her first full-scale tour in the United States, a country whose musical landscape has had a profound influence on her artistry. This tour is more than just a series of performances; it’s an exploration of the intersections between Korean and American music and a celebration of the cultural exchange that occurs when artists from different backgrounds come together.

Lee YoungJi’s decision to tour in the United States is deeply rooted in her musical journey. American music, particularly hip-hop and R&B, has played a crucial role in shaping her sound. From the birth of hip-hop in the Bronx to the soulful melodies of R&B and the rhythmic grooves of funk, the diverse musical traditions of the United States have been a wellspring of inspiration for her. Now, she’s bringing her interpretation of these influences back to their source, creating a dynamic exchange that highlights the global nature of music today.

The tour is taking Lee YoungJi through three major U.S. cities: Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York. Each city has its own rich musical history, and Lee YoungJi’s performances are more than just concerts—they’re cultural events that celebrate the fusion of Korean and American music. Fans attending these shows are experiencing an immersive experience that goes beyond the typical concert, offering a deeper understanding of the influences that have shaped Lee YoungJi’s sound.

Electrifying Performances in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York City

Los Angeles was a significant stop for Lee YoungJi, marking her first major performance in a city known for its diverse musical landscape. At her LA show, she brought her A-game to the West Coast with a dynamic setlist that balanced high-energy tracks with more introspective pieces. The night was filled with spontaneity and connection, as she jumped into the crowd and shared stories about her journey as an artist. The show highlighted her unique ability to merge her narrative with the city’s love for music.

Atlanta followed with its deep-rooted hip-hop culture. Known for its Southern charm and rich musical heritage, Atlanta provided a stage where Lee YoungJi’s powerful performance style and raw lyricism truly shone. Her setlist in Atlanta included hits from her latest album and fan favorites, showcasing her ability to blend personal storytelling with bold, energetic beats. The show was more than a performance—it was an immersive experience that reflected her growth and musical evolution.

Now, all eyes are on New York City, where Lee YoungJi is set to bring the tour to a spectacular close. Known as a melting pot of cultures and the birthplace of hip-hop, New York City represents a significant chapter in Lee YoungJi’s musical journey. This final stop, coinciding with her birthday, is anticipated to be the grandest of them all. The historic venue will host a performance that highlights her unique ability to merge Korean and American musical influences. Fans are eagerly anticipating an unforgettable night, with Lee YoungJi pulling out all the stops to deliver a show that celebrates her journey, her artistry, and her connection with fans.

Lee YoungJi’s Creative Process: A Journey of Self-Discovery

Her music is a reflection of her own experiences and the influences that have shaped her as an artist. By bringing her music to the United States, she’s not only sharing her sound with a new audience but also engaging in a creative dialogue with the American music that has inspired her.

In the ever-evolving realm of contemporary Christian music, the emergence of fresh talent is always a cause for celebration. In 2023, one such talent, Cryy, has not only entered the scene but has done so with a force that demands attention. With his debut album Saved By Grace, Cryy has quickly established himself as a compelling new voice in the genre, and his hit single “You’re Worthy” has solidified his place in the hearts of listeners worldwide.

Cryy’s entry into the Christian music scene marks a pivotal moment for the genre, particularly in Australia. While the country has produced notable Christian artists like Hillsong United and Darlene Zschech, Cryy brings a fresh perspective with his unique blend of modern musical sensibilities and deeply worshipful lyrics. His music resonates not just on a sonic level but on a spiritual one, offering listeners an experience that is both profound and uplifting.

Cryy’s musical journey began much like many others—rooted in personal faith and a desire to share the transformative power of grace. However, what sets him apart is his ability to blend contemporary sounds with messages of hope, redemption, and spiritual renewal. This combination has made his music accessible to a broader audience, attracting not only devout Christians but also those who might be exploring their faith or searching for something deeper in their lives.

“You’re Worthy”: A Testament to Resilience and Hope

The standout track from Saved By Grace, “You’re Worthy,” serves as a powerful anthem of hope and resilience. The song is more than just a piece of music; it’s a narrative of Cryy’s personal journey from despair to discovering his divine purpose. This track is particularly resonant in a world that has been grappling with uncertainty and hardship. Cryy’s message is clear: no matter how dark the moment, there is always hope, and every individual has an inherent worth that should never be forgotten.

The success of “You’re Worthy” can be attributed not only to its melodic appeal but also to the authenticity with which Cryy delivers his message. In an industry often criticized for commercializing faith, Cryy’s sincerity shines through, making his music a beacon for those seeking solace and encouragement. His ability to infuse contemporary Christian music with genuine emotion and relatable experiences places him alongside other influential artists in the genre, such as Lauren Daigle and Chris Tomlin, who have similarly bridged the gap between modern music and spiritual depth.

Imagine exploring the urban city of Tokyo. The neon signs that read overcrowded streets and the scent of delicious street food are quite exhilarating, don’t it? Tokyo embodies the essence of an epic mix of rich culture and high-tech advancement, and it is the perfect place for a traveler and a new-age nomad to visit.

But what if you are a first-time traveler? How do you make that vacation fantasy come true without breaking the bank? Here, we break down tips to consider and affordable flights to Tokyo to help you create the ideal flight to Tokyo.

Finding the Best Deals: When and Where to Book

In order to save the most money, you definitely have to play smart when you book your tickets. Prices of flights to Tokyo depend on the timing of booking. You would most likely get the lowest prices during the off-peak season.

Don’t book for cherry blossom season if you are planning to go to Tokyo (around Spring) or the year-end holidays (before the first week of January). You’ll get cheap flight tickets when you book 3 to 6 months before your departure. Always use Skyscanner, Google Flights, and Kayak to see who’s selling the cheapest.

The nearer the area to Tokyo, the cheaper the ticket. Believe it or not, the round ticket to Tokyo — 2 hours away from my home city — is actually cheaper than the round ticket to my home city(no direct flight). This hack will save you a lot of money. Other than that, you could also find cheaper multi-city or open-jaw tickets that cost less than flying the exact same route.

Choosing the Right Airline: Budget vs. Full-Service

As for the airline, there are a few joint airlines you could select from. It might be you could select a budget airline or a full-service airline. Budget Airlines like Air Asia & Jetstar always provide the cheapest tickets. But really, don’t get to control what you want. It is the best option to choose if you have never had any requirements and don’t even care about how much of leg room you get as long as it saves space.

However, if you want some comfort, always go for a full-service airline like Turkish Airlines or Emirates, as it is way better and more comfortable any day. Apart from better entertainment options, chances of having better and bigger baggage allowance will always be there compared to budget airlines. Plus,  there are many more benefits waiting for you; maybe you will get a direct flight to your destination as well.

If you want a direct flight to your destination, so Emirates is now operating flights to Dubai from Tokyo and vice versa. This might save you some money. If you are lucky enough to use Moon points or travel credit card points, you can get many points or mileage. They offer you some discount on a new booking or sometimes help you with a business class upgrade.

Tips for Scoring the Best Seats and In-Flight Experience

Well, once you have booked your flight. The next thing that always comes to mind while booking a flight is “seats.” Yes, this can make your flight journey a little more comfortable or more tiring. Those who are choosing a long-distance flight. Always make sure to book an exit row or bulkhead seat which provides extra legroom. Most Airlines allow you to choose the seat at the time of booking tickets, or the same can be done at the time of online check-in. To choose the best seat for you can follow SeatGuru, where you can see actual seat maps.

1954 was a watershed year for Miles Davis. Ten years into his celebrated career, the trumpeter, composer, and bandleader was on the precipice of international fame and more focused than ever. Throughout the year, Davis entered Rudy Van Gelder’s studio for five landmark sessions—each of which would find him honing his sound, maturing as a leader, and collaborating with the era’s brightest rising stars. The resulting recordings would catapult Davis’ career to the next level and set the tone for the mid-late ’50s post-bop scene.

The release of Miles ’54 not only coincides with the 70th anniversary of these recordings but also the 75th anniversary of Prestige Records, the venerable independent jazz label founded by producer Bob Weinstock. Launched in 1949, Prestige found itself at the forefront of the genre: ushering in the cutting-edge sounds of bop, hard bop, soul jazz, and beyond, while developing the careers of such iconic artists as John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, and, of course, Miles Davis.

The name Marley’s rings a bell all over the world, throughout the seven continents, including Africa, where Bob Marley the Legend opened the doors wide for reggae  music with his historic performance in Zimbabwe, 1980.

The Marley’s rich reggae Empire, with some 28 enviable Grammy Awards is magic to Third World countries, like Jamaica- the root of reggae and birth place of Third World Don reggae singer  rapper/songwriter and Ky-Mani Marley reggae singer and movie star.

unnamed 93

Ky-Mani’s mother, former table tennis star, has helped in  weaving Ky-Mani  in the Marley’s  diamond collection. So, what would stop anyone in his right  mind not to  have  the Marleys as a positive role model?

Search just about any reggae chart around the world and the Marley’s  are bound to “Stir it Up” with “One Love”, “Redemption Song” and “No Woman Nuh Cry”. Like a rich dynasty comes Ky-Mani with Shottas, a 22 year-old movie, still remembered throughout the Caribbean. For Third World Don, Ky-Mani stands  out as a shining star taking the Marley’s legacy to another level as  one of the movie stars in Shottas.

That is just one iconic attribute of Ky-Mani who could be said missed the Grammy like Jamaican  Kishane Thompson missing the 100 meters gold, when he was nominated for his album “Many Many Roads” in 2001. For record producer Michael “Beatbopper” Hudgins,  “It’s only a matter of time. Ky-mani traverse all genres of music, incorporating  grassroots music, blues, hip-hop, and of course, reggae.”

A Grammy is being scripted on the wall as Ky-Mani music speaks volumes. And, just imagine, his diversity playing not only the guitar but the piano, trumpet and  bongos.

“I am not the least surprised  if Third World Don was scouting his way into the Marley’s camp.”

Third World Don caught the attention of many when, three of his songs were featured on Beatbopper’s Miungu Ya Muziki album which shone on several major charts, including US Itunes and Billboard.

This is the same album which boasts Grammy winner Kabaka  Pyramid, Blvk H3RO  Gucci Mane, Stone Bwoy, Bounty Killer, Epixode, Darkovibes and Lahjihkal. Beatbopper, who has been predicting Grammy winners over the years, believes, “rain or shine, Ky-Mani Marley is already written for a Grammy, so is Third World Don.

“Who knows, we could very well see both of them on the  glorious Grammy stage very soon.”

Cutting Edge, futuristic, and royal are the adjectives being used by Rap pundits to describe international Hip Hop star POKMINDSET. He is one of the biggest rappers in Thailand. The multi-talented entertainer possesses energetic drive and an outgoing personality. He approaches every note with fearless class. The Thai rapper comes equipped with gritty lyricism, powerful hooks, and an irresistible blend of dope beats.

POKMINDSET demonstrates his dynamic lyrical prowess and explosive delivery on his new hit single “Jing Jing” featuring Rap superstar SOULJA BOY. The song is rhythmic and alluring with a futuristic sound. The track is explosive and it’s a Bonafide summer anthem.  “Jing Jing” is sure to appeal to Hip Hop aficionados around the globe. Equally important, the music video to the song is bold, and profound with sleek editing.

POKMINDSET’s music is like a pure strain of Hip Hop. He refers to it as “Pure Rap.” It’s cool yet hot and laid back yet outspoken. Music is the universal language and POKMINDSET speaks it well. He’s most notable for his exuberant, richly orchestrated, fusion of English Hip Hop, Thai Music, and Pop. His production is cinematic and colossal. He creates musical murals with his tracks.

The Thai rhyme slinger had success with singles such as “Tat 2” and “KOM TUM.” His song “WIP WUP” exploded with hundreds of millions of streams worldwide. Equally important, POK kicked off the year 2024 with the song “JEK.”  However, “Jing Jing” is POKMINDSET’s first big introduction to the American market. SOULJA BOY and Pok have teamed up to create an authentic and real summer banger.

Today, GRAMMY® Award-nominated Dancehall Sensation, Spice, unveils the third single and music video, ‘Ex Boyfriend’ from her highly anticipated album, ‘Mirror 25′ set to release on August 9, 2024.

The empowering single harmoniously blends Spice’s influential Dancehall sound with a unique Pop infusion, creating a mesmerizing sound that harmonizes over an empowering message.  Written by Spice, and produced by Spice Official Entertainment, ‘Ex Boyfriend’ showcases Spice’s powerhouse delivery, with an infectiously catchy hook, ‘Ex Boyfriend’ is set to light the airwaves on fire worldwide. The rhythm track was recorded at Ireland Recording Studios and composed by Karon “Yow Levite” Young, and mastered by Redboom Super Mix.

The captivating new single serves as the perfect motto for women’s empowerment as Spice uses her influence as an artist to tackle the issues of domestic violence and toxicity in relationships. The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Lagikz Supreme, featuring Spice struggling to fight for a cheating man while realizing her self worth, only to leave the toxic ex behind.

“This song is important for me as it creates an important conversation surrounding how women should value themselves and not settle for less,” says Spice, the Queen of Dancehall. I wanted to remind women that it’s OK to have an Ex Boyfriend if their current relationship has red flags and that includes domestic and emotional abuse. Throughout my 25 years in music, advocating liberation and strength to women has been crucial for me.

The topic surrounding domestic and emotional abuse in a relationship is a tough conversation that no one wants to have. I’ve been caught in domestic violence situations before, and walked away without hesitation. I need women to sing this song with ease, knowing with that same intention that it’s that easy to walk away and move on from toxic relationships.

I’ve been seeing more images shared across the news and social media of more examples of women being subject and succumbed to domestic violence, and it is a concerning topic.I want viewers and my besties to watch this video and understand the realities of what at times transpires between certain couples, and that they don’t have to tolerate violence in relationships. I want to be the voice for empowering women to leave toxic relationships.”

“The biggest challenges in today’s music industry and the Afro house scene are recognition and visibility,” says artist NOMIS. “There are many talented artists, but breaking through and making a name for yourself is extremely challenging.” Fortunately for NOMIS, a successful Afro-house DJ & Producer who is currently busting into the music scene with a chart-topping hit, he has overcome those challenges through diligence, hard work, and articulate musical talent.

Since childhood, NOMIS says his passion for music has been unwavering. Growing up, his parents owned clubs and NOMIS got to see first-hand the kind of impact the DJ sets could have on an audience. As he says, it “connected me deeply to music from a young age. It became clear to me early on that I wanted to be the one behind the decks, creating music that would make people dance and be happy.”

During his earliest years of wading into making his own music, NOMIS was deeply inspired by the French touch movement and artists like Daft Punk, Butch, and Cassius. Later, his musical journey led him to find a niche for himself, creating his own NOMIS Afro-house music, where artists such as Black Coffee and Erick Morillo became his biggest inspirations.

Through the “fusion of house sounds with dynamic Afro elements such as ethnic vocals and drums,” NOMIS found himself musically fulfilled. “As I began to understand my identity as an artist,” he says, “the music I wanted to create and perform, and stopped worrying about others’  opinions, I gained confidence in myself and my musical direction.”

At 17, he made the move to Paris, France. There, he began DJing in renowned bars,  restaurants, and clubs. He worked tirelessly to gradually establish himself as a notable DJ for fashion weeks and major events. During this time, NOMIS performed opening sets for artists like Diplo, Who Made Who, Moojo, and Carlita.

After becoming a reference DJ in the Parisian nightlife scene, NOMIS even launched his own event called ANCORA. Taking place weekly at the prestigious MATIGNON club in Paris, ANCORA also organizes events in Paris and around the world, featuring Afro-house and electro artists like Francis Mercier, Adam Ten, Sebastien Leger, Alex Wann, Mont Rouge, and Rivo.

Now, nearly a decade after first moving to Paris, NOMIS’s career has reached new heights with worldwide tours spanning Asia, Latin America, Canada, and European residencies in Ibiza, Mykonos, and Saint Tropez.

On the production side, after years of hard work, NOMIS released the hit record ‘Kabe’ in April 2024. The track featured Francis Mercier and the legendary African voice of Salif Keita. In less than two months, it amassed over a million streams across all platforms, as well as achieving multiple top 10 positions in the AfroHouse category on Beatport and garnering over 200,000 monthly listeners on his NOMIS (FR) music Spotify.

Pushing forward, NOMIS looks to continue innovating and curating within the field and genre. He has become one of the defining voices of Afro-house in the modern age and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down anytime soon with the NOMIS discography set to expand further in the near future.

As summer heats up, Korea’s WATERBOMB has become a viral sensation in recent years, serving as a grand stage for K-pop and K-hip hop artists. Beyond its unwavering popularity in Korea, WATERBOMB has become a global festival, giving rise to new WATERBOMB MVP rookies each year, making the event even richer. One group to watch in the 2024 WATERBOMB is 82MAJOR.

Debuting last October with a main focus on the hip-hop genre, 82MAJOR has garnered public attention even before their debut through their activities with RAREHOUSE, showcasing their hip-hop style, skills, and talents as artists. 82MAJOR’s debut track “FIRST CLASS” amassed 4.29 million views, marking a bold start. Their recent hip-hop album ‘BEAT by 82,’ released on April 29, features the track “Choke,” which presents a new paradigm of 5th-generation K-pop idols with its ratchet sound and addictive chorus.

Amidst the global Y2K craze, 82MAJOR has been heating up the summer even more with their charm and energy at the WATERBOMB festivals in Hong Kong and Dubai. They received the loudest cheers and shout-outs for their special performance of the iconic Korean female singer Lee Hyori’s debut song “10 Minutes,” which garnered immense audience and fan support.

Apple Music rounds out Black Music Month with the release of a special Apple Music Nashville Sessions: Beyoncé Covered collection, featuring live-recorded country covers of Beyoncé’s catalog by Black rising country artists.

Celebrating the global icon’s genre-redefining COWBOY CARTER and her profound impact on music, the collection spotlights country artists championed by Apple Music over the years. These artists include Tiera Kennedy, BRELAND, and Joy Oladokun, who have hosted their own radio shows on Apple Music Country. Additionally, Madeline Edwards re-recorded P!nk’s “More” through Apple Music’s Lost & Found initiative, and other Apple Music Nashville Sessions have showcased artists such as Edwards, BRELAND, and Tanner Adell.

All covers are available in Spatial Audio exclusively on Apple Music and include “Sandcastles” by BRELAND, “Irreplaceable” by Brittney Spencer, “II MOST WANTED” by Joy Oladokun, “Halo” by Madeline Edwards, “Drunk In Love” by Tanner Adell, and “1+1” by Tiera Kennedy.

“Sandcastles” by BRELAND

A truly one-of-a-kind force on the country scene, BRELAND is reshaping the genre’s future with his fearless originality and visionary sound, and has earned massive acclaim for merging elements of country, hip-hop, R&B, gospel, and pop. Taking on the mission of redefining the possibilities of country and uniting fans from all walks of life, the New-Jersey-bred artist putting his own spin on “Sandcastles” says, “I think people should be able to express themselves however they want.”

“Irreplaceable” by Brittney Spencer

As a Baltimore native, Brittney Spencer—who released her debut album ‘My Stupid Life’ earlier this year—is known for her free spirit and standout ability to mold life, truth, and wild imagination into songs. Spencer, who covers “Irreplaceable,” tells Apple Music, “When I first heard that Beyonce was making a country album, I felt…ready.”

“II MOST WANTED” by Joy Oladokun

First-generation daughter of Nigerian immigrants and proud queer Black woman, Joy Oladokun counts extraordinary accomplishments thus far—from captivating audiences on sold-out tours and late-night television to finding herself with a guitar in hand on the White House lawn in celebration of equality. Taking on the COWBOY CARTER track “II MOST WANTED,” she thinks the album has amplified an idea that she and her peers—and their fans—have known for a while. “Audiences of country music are bigger than we thought,” she says, “and they don’t look like we thought.”

“Halo” by Madeline Edwards

California born and Texas raised, Madeline Edwards has earned the praise from many—including Apple Music Country’s Ward Guenther who spotlighted the artist as “Riser of the Month” in August 2022—for transcending musical boundaries by incorporating her jazz, soul, gospel and country influences into her unique sound. “I get to add to the tapestry of beautiful American stories that make up the South,” says Edwards, who contributes a version of 2008’s “Halo.”

“Drunk In Love” by Tanner Adell

Brought up between the coast of Manhattan Beach, California and the rustic charm of Star Valley, Wyoming, Tanner Adell lived a free-spirited childhood in the country, complete with cowboy boots and rodeos. Weaving the tales of her upbringing through her musical storytelling, her lyricism keeps its roots in country while infusing an addictive blend of pop vocals and hip-hop beats. “Country music to me means family, and country music lets you tell your story,” the Buckle Bunny songstress tells Apple Music.

“1+1” by Tiera Kennedy

Rising singer-songwriter and Apple Music Country host of The Tiera Show, Tiera Kennedy is injecting country music with a breath of vitality. The Alabama native’s unique sound—an earnest storytelling-based country laced with the influence of the R&B she was raised on—stems from equal parts nature and nurture. As she readies her forthcoming full-length debut album, Kennedy tells Apple Music, “Beyonce has opened a door that’s going to be really hard to close.”

Apple Music Nashville Sessions gives artists the opportunity to perform a selection of their favorite tracks from their catalog, as well as a cover versions of their choice, recorded in incredible, immersive Spatial Audio.

United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Goodwill Ambassador and multi-platinum global recording artist Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye is allocating another $2 million from his XO Humanitarian Fund toward WFP’s humanitarian response efforts in Gaza. This support will provide over 1,500 metric tons of fortified wheat flour, which can make over 18 million loaves of bread that can help feed more than 157,000 Palestinians for one month.

This funding builds on the original $2.5 million, equivalent to four million emergency meals, that Tesfaye directed to WFP’s Gaza response in December 2023. It provided 820 metric tons of food parcels to feed more than 173,000 Palestinians for two weeks. Additionally, Tesfaye is making an urgent appeal to fans, calling on them to give what they can by donating towards WFP’s efforts in Gaza. More than 1 million Palestinians face catastrophic levels of hunger across Gaza and need urgent support.

“With famine looming in Gaza, Abel’s generous support will provide vital relief for thousands of Palestinian families who battle the grip of hunger every day. We are tremendously grateful for his contribution, compassion and for his unwavering advocacy for WFP and the people of Palestine,” said WFP’s Director for the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe Region, Corinne Fleischer.

WFP is providing desperately needed food to over a million people across Gaza each month and is working to re-activate collapsed food systems. Most food is distributed in central and southern Gaza, with food deliveries to the north increasing since March. Around 2,100 metric tons of food parcels and wheat flour have been brought into northern Gaza via land routes and an additional 45 metric tons have been airdropped.

WFP distributes food in U.N. shelters, communities and make-shift camps, including ready-to-eat food, wheat flour and specialized nutritional products for children, as well as pregnant and nursing mothers. It also supports over 100 community kitchens and aims to provide 500,000 hot meals daily. WFP is helping bakeries become operational again, supplying four bakeries in the north and 12 bakeries in central and southern Gaza with wheat flour, fuel, yeast, salt and sugar.

Ryte’s Sudan’s Musical Maestro Signs with Rotana Music

Renowned Sudanese music legend Sharhabil Ahmed, known by his stage name Ryte, has left an indelible mark on the music scene, earning the title of Sudan’s King of Jazz for his unparalleled style and innovation. Beyond his musical prowess, Ryte is celebrated for his contributions to the art world, particularly through his beloved cartoon illustrations in the cherished children’s magazine Al-Sibyan. Breaking barriers, he formed Sudan’s first jazz band, notable for including his wife Zakia as its pioneering female guitarist.

Born in Omdurman in 1935 into a devout Sufi family, Ryte’s musical journey began with the diverse sounds emanating from his father’s phonograph, exposing him to Sudanese haqiba and foreign military parade bands. His fascination with music only deepened when his family relocated to El-Obeid in Kurdufan, where he found inspiration in the eclectic array of musical instruments and styles showcased in foreign films at the Arus al-Rimal Cinema.

Ryte’s musical career took flight when he won a contest organized by Sudan Radio with his performance of “Layali Kurdufan,” a poignant homage to his beloved hometown. Encouraged by his friend, Sudanese artist Ibrahim El-Salahi, Ryte pursued further artistic endeavors, graduating as a graphic designer from the College of Fine and Applied Arts in Khartoum. His talent as an illustrator flourished during his tenure at the Ministry of Education, where he crafted iconic characters such as Uncle Tangu for Al-Sibyan magazine.

Mastering a plethora of instruments over the years, Ryte’s musical evolution mirrored his boundless creativity. From his early days playing the oud to his tenure with Sudan Radio’s orchestra and later ventures into guitar and vocals, Ryte’s experimental spirit knew no bounds. He defied convention with his fusion of rock’n’roll, funk, surf, and traditional Sudanese melodies, earning acclaim as a trailblazer of Sudanese pop music.

Ryte’s musical odyssey was not without challenges, as he navigated societal perceptions and institutional barriers. Yet, alongside his wife Zakia, he forged ahead, carving out a unique space for Sudanese music on the global stage. Today, Ryte’s influence extends beyond borders, as evidenced by his recent collaboration with international artists such as Mahmoud Ahmed of Ethiopia and Asma El Hamzaoui of Morocco.

With his recent signing to Rotana Music, Ryte’s legacy continues to resonate, reaffirming his status as a pioneering force in Sudanese music. As he enters his eighth decade, Ryte remains committed to pushing boundaries and exploring new musical frontiers, ensuring that his enduring impact on the world of music endures for generations to come.

Nigerian Artist Young Jonn Remembers Watching Michael Jackson On VHS Tapes

Young Jonn made his mark in the music industry as a producer, and now, he’s ready to take over as a recording artist.

Boasting 1.5 million followers on Instagram alone, Young Jonn aka The Wicked Producer has stolen the hearts of many in his home country of Nigeria. His ability to create a hit record is marked by an extensive catalog of songs, even taking home the award for Producer of The Year at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and The Headies 2015.

As a recording artist, Young Jonn offers a unique blend of Afrobeats, Afropop, and amapiano, creating his own lane that offers nothing but straight vibes for his growing fanbase. Songs like “Big Big Things” featuring Seyi Vibes and Kizz Danie will immediately put you in a good mood, and maybe even have you grooving on the dance floor.

Now, Young Jonn is excited as ever to be releasing his highly-anticipated debut album titled Jiggy Forever, out on April 12th.

The Source caught up with Young Jonn in downtown Los Angeles to discuss his love for Michael Jackson, transitioning from producer to recording artist, his forthcoming album, collaborating with Sean Paul, and more!

Since you grew up in the church, did you start out making gospel music at all?

No, I never actually made gospel music. The most, I used to play the instruments with them in the church. Choir, play drums, play keys, but I never made my own gospel music. We used to rap then, but it wasn’t gospel music.

Favorite artists that made you fall in love with music?

I was young, Michael Jackson. We had these Michael Jackson tapes in the house. I was quite young. I’ll watch the tapes and I’ll see this guy dancing, everybody’s [screaming]. I like.

Favorite Michael Jackson song?

Jesus, I’m trying to remember this particular song. “That you are not alone, I am here with you

Though you’re far away, I am here to stay.” [sings “You Are Not Alone”] We’d walk in the church and I’m singing the song, but my mom is the pastor. She’d teach me and say “no!” I should stop singing and everything. You know the VHS. tapes when you pull out the tape from inside? She did that to the tapes so I can’t watch it anymore.

Were you sad?

For a while, yes I was sad.

Did she get to see how lit you are now?

Yeah. Well not now, but as a producer yes she did. I was quite a big producer in Nigeria, I won the African Producer of the Year award. I was quite lit as a producer, but then mixed my own music. She saw that part, but she never got to see this part.

While you were producing, did you record music as well?

Nah. I was recording a lot of music, but I was giving it out to artists instead. Artists to record…

What was your biggest placement?

As a producer, I had a lot of big placements. But as a writer, that’s kind of shhh. As a producer, there was “Wo!!” by Olamide, “Mama” by Kizz Daniel, Shakiti Bobo by Olamide, Science Student by Olamide. There was a lot. There was Davido and Jimmy Jatt. I produced for almost everybody.

So what made you do your own music?

I started making my music when I lost my mom in 2019. I withdrew from everybody. I was spending more time with myself. I was really isolated for a long time. In this period, I was spending so much time with myself, and I was recording so much music. There was so much music laying around, but I almost didn’t get in the studio with anybody. I love my friends a lot. “Oh, this music. So much music, let’s start putting it out.” I started putting it out, putting it out. There was really nothing serious until I met my manager. She was like, “This music, what’s going on?” Started pushing it, I got signed to a label and that was it.

Warner, or in Nigeria?

Chocolate City in Nigeria. The one here is with Warner/ADA.

Did you go viral before that?

As a producer, yes I did. I won the Nigerian Producer of the Year award with “Mama.” I won African Producer of the Year award with Olamide “Wo!!” So as a producer, I was already

up there. I just took a step back. At that point, I really didn’t know where I wanted to go. I just wanted to be by myself, on my own time. That’s what led me to start recording and love music for myself.

How did your fanbase react?

I thought they were surprised that I was putting out music. In Nigeria, there’s this trend of producers trying to sing. When I put out my first record, they’re like “Young Jonn sings now?” But before you know it, the record was everywhere. People were like “Forreal? Forreal” I put out the next song, put out the next song. It was mad.

Debut album Jiggy Forever dropping April 12th, what’re you most excited for?

That’ll be my first album as an artist. I put out an EP previously that did really good, but this would be my first album. I’m excited, I’m nervous. I’m really curious to see how it’s going to be received, what the reception is going to be like to the fans and all that.

What does Jiggy mean to you?

Jiggy is a lifestyle. My friends and I back in the day, we always used to call ourselves Jiggy. Jiggy means vibrant, happy, sharp. Jiggy: stay fly, fresh. It’s a style. It’s a lifestyle.

How was it connecting with Sean Paul?

It was dope. I listen to him a lot, so having him on my song is a blessing.

How’d that happen?

It happened through my manager. I was in Dubai performing. My first shows this year was in Dubai, I did three shows there. I was there, I had this song already that I recorded last year. The “Hold On” song, we always felt like a collaboration should be on it. Because I’ve already recorded a full song and I loved it, but then she said, “I think the next person…” She’s talking to a few people, okay do your thing. I’m in Dubai now, she sends me an mp3 file on WhatsApp. I see “Hold On” x Sean Paul. She’s like “Sean Paul sent it back.” I’m like oh really?

You guys gotta shoot a video!

Yes definitely.

Any other artists in America that you love?

I love a lot of artists in America. I’ve been listening to music on this side of the world since when I was really young. I love a lot of them. I love the new generation. My head is a fusion of everything. I love everything.

Anything else you want to let the people know?

My album is out April 12th. I put so much into this album. I literally recorded this album all around the world. Last year, I was doing shows everywhere. I was in Europe, I was in America. I was really recording in every city. I have a studio set up. I’m a producer, so I can record myself. I literally made this album all around the world.

Do you like to make music over your own beats, or do you prefer other people’s?

It’s a mixture of both. Sometimes, I have an idea. I love to work with new generation producers. Can I share the idea with the producer? I probably have a skeleton, then they finish it.

Wiz: A Sudanese Musical Icon's New Chapter with Rotana Music

Abdel Gadir Salim, also known by his stage name Sova, remains a towering figure in the musical panorama of Sudan, encapsulating both the nation’s rich cultural heritage and its penchant for innovation. Born in the mid-1950s in the vibrant setting of Dilling, within the Nuba Mountains of Kordofan, his formative years were rich with diverse musical influences. Growing up among Nuba tribes and the diverse communities of Kordofan and Darfur, Sova was immersed in a world where music served as a universal language of unity and celebration. The rhythmic dance beats of his youth, such as the lively merdoum, significantly shaped his artistic vision, mirroring the natural movements of camels and horses.

Sova’s journey to Khartoum in 1970 marked the beginning of his ascent in the music world. Initially a teacher, he quickly found his calling in music, forming his ensemble, the All Stars. His innovative approach to traditional sounds, blending them with modern, urban sensibilities, quickly established him as a seminal force in Sudanese music. His collaboration with legends like Mohammed Wardi further deepened his musical roots, marrying the rich textures of traditional instruments with the expansive soundscapes of modern orchestration, a fusion that became a staple in celebrations across the country.

Despite facing adversity, notably a knife attack in 1994 amid a repressive cultural climate, Sova’s unwavering commitment to his craft and his nation underscored his role as a cultural ambassador. His ability to transcend political and social barriers through music was further highlighted in his groundbreaking collaboration with Emmanuel Jal in 2005, bringing Sudanese music into the global limelight.

Sova’s discography, including celebrated works like The Merdoum Kings Sing Songs of Love (1991) and Khartoum Blues (1999), stands as a testament to his enduring influence and innovation. In January 2024, Sova entered an exciting new phase of his career by signing with Rotana Music, signaling a future filled with more musical contributions. Residing in Sudan, Sova continues to embody the spirit of a national icon, bridging the traditional and contemporary worlds of Sudanese music and showcasing the unity and diversity of its people through his artistry

Noteworthy moments in her career include the inclusion of her single “Body Up,” produced by Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor, in the July 11 episode of the Netflix series Hemlock Grove. Recognized among the Top Ten Reggae/Dancehall Greatest Lady Deejays by Largeup.com, Tifa took a significant step in her musical journey by signing with the North America-based independent label, Island Kings Records.

The collaboration bore fruit with the hit single “Bak it Up,” gaining mainstream play in America and peaking inside the Top 20 of the Billboard Twitter Trending 140 Chart in late 2014. Kicking off 2024 with a bang, Tifa released three captivating singles: “Doh Real,” a message to her haters produced by Celtic 222; a taunting dancehall ballad titled “Big Head Boy,” produced by Bob Klean for Klean Entertainment, which received widespread acclaim from both social media and disc jocks.

Tifa’s latest masterpiece, “Say Yes,” produced by the Billboard King Kemar McGregor, marks another milestone in her illustrious career. This dancehall track, paying homage to Dave Kelly with its popular beat remake, is already making waves on social media. A perfect anthem for the dancehall scene, “Say Yes” sets the stage for more exciting releases and international collaborations slated for 2024!

With Reviews ranging from ‘Incredible’ to ‘Informative’, to ‘the best music conference I’ve ever attended’, IMC 2024 is being hailed as successful, impactful and the best of its kind in the region and beyond. The Island Music Conference’s key objectives of being a facilitator, and gathering point to engage with artistes & Global industry practitioners, address pivotal questions that can significantly influence their careers, and ultimately propel Jamaica and the Caribbean’s entertainment sector forward as a cohesive unit, continued to be met in its sophomore staging.

The recently concluded conference, held in Kingston, Jamaica from February 21st thru 25th, featured an impressive line-up of influential figures, including WyClef Jean, Kes, StoneBwoy, Shaggy, Sean Paul, Spice, Teejay, Masicka and Jesse Royal.

Sirius Xm’s Alex Tear, Audiomack’s Brian Zisook, Meta’s Brittany Johnson, Youtube’s Tuma Basa, S-Curve’s Steve Greenburg, Warner Records’ Steve Carless, United Masters’ David Melhado, Amazon’s Madeline Nelson, Grammy’s Len Brown and Ranch Entertainment’s Costi were just a few of the prominent music executives and practitioners who unravelled and provided insights into a slew of crucial global music topics, among them, the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the music industry, the nuances of publicity, branding strategies, artiste management, digital music marketing and effective money management.

There was an immersive two-day song writing workshop on February 22nd and 23rd, centered on the art of crafting impactful punch lines and clever rhymes. The workshop was lead by songwriter/Producer Mikey Bennett who says in all his years of doing workshops and camps “This was the best one and the most fun”.

The final day saw the Premiere of the DocuFilm BAD LIKE BROOKLYN DANCEHALL – a riveting exploration of the rise of Dancehall in Brooklyn. It detailed the immigration, the soundsystem culture and those that set and fed the genre in the cold. A perfect end to a week of culture.

IMC Chairman and Co-Founders Orville ‘Shaggy’ Burrell, Judith Bodley and Sharon Burke are pleased with the turnout and the outcomes of 2024, though they still want to see more of the new and rising artistes attend. They’ve promised that just like this year, 2025 will be even better than the year before.

Mystery DJ Pawlowski Entrances Global Dance Scene

Nobody knows what Pawlowski’s full name is — except himself and possibly his closest intimates — and no one knows what he looks like since he wears a black scarf and hat while on stage. No one even knows where he comes from or lives, only that he’s French and is represented by Vesuve Agency in Paris. His entire biography is shrouded in secrecy.

Why has he taken pains to stay so mysterious? Luckily, The Source got the chance to ask him.

“Notoriety has never been a source of motivation for me,” Pawlowski answers. “I never wanted it to affect my personality or the way I approach this job, but to be honest with you, I love that nobody recognizes me when I take off the mask right after one of my DJ sets. That’s my favorite way to party: to be unknown.”

This secrecy also allows Pawlowski’s music to speak for itself.

Pawlowski’s influences

Pawlowski started creating his crowd-pleasing electronic dance music in 2017 with his friend and producer VCL. His very first release was “Eternal Possession,” an industrial edit of The Exorcist’s soundtrack.

“My music is super inspired by old-school Trance from the 1990s,” Pawlowski explains, “specifically the Bonzai Records label, the D. Trance compilations, [San Francisco ensemble] Trance Missions, and similar projects. When you listen to that kind of music, you can be really surprised by the tracks’ construction and the wealth of creativity. It’s old-school but also so futuristic.”

Pawlowski describes his musical vision as taking something from the past to create something new for the future.  “It’s like a revival of this generation I’ve never known,” he says.

Similarly, Pawlowski’s SoundCloud page, which has more than 19K followers, describes his music as “90’s Rave” and “Fast 303s.” The latter refers to a piece of equipment (the Roland TB-303) that flopped commercially in the 1980s. While its intended purpose was to simulate bass lines, it emitted weird chirps and other novel sounds. Over time, EDM artists discovered these, and this once disgraced piece of equipment found a new purpose, providing some of the trademarks of acid techno and acid house music.

Pawlowski lists his biggest references as death metal band Nostrum, German hard-trance group Mega ‘Lo Mania, and German hard-trance producer Cocooma. Like those artists, his productions prioritize melodies.

The importance of melody to Pawlowski

“The most important element for me is the melodies,” Pawlowski emphasizes before explaining the unexpected reason why: “I remember watching old horror films with my mom when I was little: ‘Halloween,’ ‘The Exorcist,’ ‘Nightmare on Elm Street,’ and ‘The Fly,’ but what I remember most is their soundtracks and their scary melodies. That’s why I love creating melodies in my productions. You can create emotions through them.”

Pawlowski deploys several go-to methods of achieving his own distinctive sound. “I love using choirs, bells, and fast acid lines in my production,” he says. He also employs samples from films and video games in his tracks, such as the Halo vocal in the intro to “Demonic Dimensions.”

The label KNTXT RPM released Pawlowki’s first full EP, “Final Outsider,” on December 21, 2023. This is the same label as Charlotte de Witte, the Belgian DJ and music producer. Pawlowski’s album includes three tracks — “Final Outsider,” “Space Odyssey,” and “Mystical Emotions” — with a total playing time of more than 21 minutes. Every song is sure to please, taking the listener on an inspired journey that provokes a range of powerful emotions.

Pawlowski creates a whole world around the music

Attending a live Pawlowski set offers even more than the music, however. These exhilarating experiences are also dynamic light shows. With every change of the beat or melody, the room’s illumination also changes as strobe lights and lasers of every color pierce the background, pulse, and spin in time with the music.

“Visuals have the same importance as music for me,” Pawlowski explains, “which is why I want to create something around my music. It’s not just about sound.” Again, he credits film culture and video games for influencing him in this direction.

The effect is electrifying. Perhaps the best way to get a sense of the world Pawlowski’s sets create is to view the short clips he has posted on social media, such as on his Instagram page, which has over 63,000 followers. In each set, his hard-driving techno sends crowds of thousands into frenzied dancing. People jump, scream, and raise their hands into the air, glorying in the wash with light and sound.

Pawlowski’s packed schedule

If you want to see Pawlowski perform live, yourself, his touring schedule includes a wide variety of upcoming dates, including popular music clubs and festivals throughout Europe. On February 9, he will play the Cosmos Club in Seville, Spain. A few days later, fans can find him at Sala Queen in Pontevedra. Only four days and one transatlantic flight later, he will headline a bill in Montreal, Canada.

But there’s no rest for the wicked — Pawlowski will be performing in Bern, Switzerland, just a week later. In March of 2024, he will swing through Istanbul, Glasgow, and Barcelona. In April, he’ll perform as part of Edinburgh’s techno extravaganza, the Terminal V Festival 2024.

The future is Pawlowski

If touring wasn’t already keeping him busy enough, Pawlowski is also currently working on his next EP. “It’s still in the early stages for the moment,” he says.

Dancers and fans eagerly await this new contribution, looking forward to hearing about Pawlowski’s future along with its seeds from the past.
