In a recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Rose dismissed rumors of a romantic involvement, stating that they never slept together and that their connection was purely business. “He only paid for PR,” she wrote, putting an end to the speculation about a real romance between the two.

ICYMI, earlier this year, Rose and Druski had kinda confirmed their relationship or situationship back in April, even sharing intimate photos and videos on Instagram, including snapshots from a vacation in the Dominican Republic.

Anyway, in a later interview during Paris Fashion Week, Rose declared her single status, saying, “F*ck love,” and adding, “Okay, I’m single, guys.” Druski also reflected on their supposed breakup, describing it as a “learning situation” and confirming he was also single.

Finally some guard rails with Instagram to protect kids. The massive social media platform is rolling out new separate accounts specifically for users under 18, aiming to make the platform safer for young people amid increasing concerns over social media’s impact on mental health.

About time.

Get this, starting Tuesday in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia, new users under 18 will be automatically placed into these more restrictive accounts, and existing teen accounts will be transitioned over the next 60 days. Similar changes will be implemented for teens in the European Union later this year.

Meta is trying to get ahead of kids circumventing the soon to come protections. The company acknowledges the possibility of teenagers lying about their age and has stated it will require more frequent age verification. The company is also developing technology to identify accounts where teens might be pretending to be adults, automatically placing them into restricted teen accounts. These accounts will be private by default, and direct messages will be limited to people teens already follow. Additionally, “sensitive content” will be restricted, and teens will receive notifications if they spend more than 60 minutes on the platform. A “sleep mode” feature will disable notifications and send auto-replies between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

What’s more, teens aged 16 and 17 can opt out of some of these restrictions, while users under 16 will need parental permission to do so. Naomi Gleit, Meta’s head of product, stated, “The three concerns we’re hearing from parents are that their teens are seeing content that they don’t want to see or that they’re getting contacted by people they don’t want to be contacted by or that they’re spending too much on the app. So teen accounts are really focused on addressing those three concerns.”

Timing wise, this move comes as Meta faces lawsuits from multiple U.S. states, alleging that the company has contributed to the youth mental health crisis by creating features that are addictive to children. New York Attorney General Letitia James called Meta’s actions “an important first step,” but emphasized that more needs to be done to protect children from social media harm. While Meta has introduced features like time-limit notifications in the past, these have been criticized for not being strict enough, as teens can easily bypass them without parental supervision.

Basically, with the new teen accounts, Meta provides parents more tools to oversee their children’s activity on Instagram. If parental supervision is enabled, parents can limit their teens’ screen time and see who is messaging their child, offering them a chance to engage in conversations about online safety. Gleit added, “Parents will be able to see, via the family center, who is messaging their teen and hopefully have a conversation with their teen.”

This is a good thing no matter how you slice it.

Netflix has unveiled the first extended trailer for its eagerly awaited NBA docuseries, “Starting 5.” Released on Monday afternoon, the series will chronicle the lives and careers of LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Jimmy Butler, and Domantas Sabonis throughout the 2023-24 NBA season. Saquon Barkley added 95 yards on 22 carries, while DeVonta Smith put up 76 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven receptions. The Eagles had an opportunity to run out the clock on their final drive but had to settle for a field goal inside the two-minute warning. This gave them a six-point lead, leaving the door open for Cousins and the Falcons to rally.

This marks the first win for the Falcons after signing Cousins in the offseason. He went 20-of-29 for 241 yards and two touchdowns. Bijan Robinson provided a boost on the ground with 97 yards on 14 carries, and Darnell Mooney added 88 yards and a touchdown on three catches.

Yet again, Miley Cyrus is facing a new lawsuit alleging copyright infringement. This time, her 2023 hit song “Flowers” allegedly intentionally copied elements of Bruno Mars’ 2012 track “When I Was Your Man.” Yikes.

Get this, the lawsuit was filed by Tempo Music Investments, which claims to hold a share of the copyright for Mars’ song, though Mars himself is not listed as a plaintiff.

Okay so according to the suit, Tempo Music Investments claims that “Flowers” borrows from “When I Was Your Man” in terms of melody, harmony, and chord progressions. The company argues, “It is undeniable based on the combination and number of similarities between the two recordings that ‘Flowers’ would not exist without ‘When I Was Your Man.’” They are seeking an unspecified amount in damages and are also demanding that Cyrus be prohibited from performing or distributing “Flowers” in the future.

As for Cyrus, the pop star has not yet publicly responded to the lawsuit, and representatives for both Cyrus and Mars have not issued comments.

What’s more is this lawsuit marks the fourth time Cyrus has faced accusations of copyright infringement. In March 2018, Jamaican artist Michael May, known as Flourgon, claimed that Cyrus’ 2013 song “We Can’t Stop” used lyrics similar to his 1988 track “We Run Things.” May alleged that the song “misappropriated” his “musical composition/lyrical phrase” and sought $300 million in damages. The case was eventually settled out of court in 2020.

Back in September 2018, another lawsuit was filed against Cyrus and Universal Music by Ariella Asher, known as Yella the Triple Threat. She alleged that the song “23” by Mike Will Made It, which featured Cyrus, had an “infringing composition” on her 2012 song “J’s On My Feet.” This lawsuit was dropped two months later, in November 2018.

Oh but wait, Cyrus was also sued in September 2022 by photographer Robert Barbera after she posted a photo of herself on Instagram. Barbera argued that Cyrus did not own the rights to the image and that her sharing it with her large Instagram following “crippled if not destroyed the potentiality of any market for the Photograph by Plaintiff.” This lawsuit was settled in October 2022 and dismissed “with prejudice,” preventing Barbera from refiling the claim in the same court.

Looks like lawyer fees are going to start piling up.

Colman Domingo has been busy lately. The “Rustin” star is reportedly in early talks to join iconic director Steven Spielberg’s next project. While details about the film are scarce, as things tend to be in Hollywood, the project reportedly already has a cast that includes Colin Firth, Emily Blunt, and Eve Hewson. Deadline Hollywood has was first to report Domingo’s talks and early attachments.

What we do know is the film is based on an original story by Spielberg, with frequent collaborator David Koepp serving as the screenwriter. Spielberg’s Amblin and Universal are set to produce, along with Kristie Macosko Krieger. The project is currently slated for a May 15, 2026 release, hinting at its potential to be a summer blockbuster.

Get this, Deadline notes that the film is “in the summer tentpole zone Spielberg practically created decades ago with such films as Jaws and Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Given Koepp’s history of writing major summer films like Spider-Man, War of the Worlds, and Jurassic Park, this project may follow in the footsteps of these high-profile blockbusters. Additionally, Koepp’s work on the cult classic Death Becomes Her suggests there could be some comedic elements in Spielberg’s new film.

Though Domingo has not previously worked with Spielberg directly, he did star in the musical adaptation of The Color Purple, which Spielberg produced. This past collaboration might have influenced Spielberg’s decision to consider Domingo for his new film.

Looks like big things all around for Domingo and Spielberg.

If you love TikTok and all that comes with it, have fun now because it might not last too much longer. The U.S. government clashed with the popular platform’s lawyers in federal court over a law that could ban the app by mid-January. TikTok is arguing the measure is unconstitutional and the Justice Department claiming it is necessary to eliminate a national security risk.

The legal battle took place before a panel of three judges at a federal appeals court in Washington.

Andrew Pincus, representing TikTok, argued, “The law before this court is unprecedented and its effect would be staggering,” suggesting that it would impose speech limitations based on hypothetical future risks. Additionally, an attorney for content creators who joined the challenge compared the law to banning Americans from publishing on foreign-owned media outlets.

Get this, the law was signed by President Joe Biden in April, comes after years of concern in Washington about TikTok’s ties to China. The U.S. government make a serious claim that TikTok collects sensitive user data that could be accessed by the Chinese government and that the app’s proprietary algorithm could be manipulated to shape content.

What’s more, Daniel Tenny, an attorney for the Justice Department, argued, “The problem is that same data is extremely valuable to a foreign adversary trying to compromise the security of the United States.”

Pincus contended that Congress should have opted for transparency regarding potential propaganda rather than forcing a divestiture or ban.

Interestingly, the judges also pressed the Justice Department on First Amendment concerns. Judge Sri Srinivasan noted that government efforts to curb content manipulation raise alarms regarding free speech. Tenny responded that the law does not directly target TikTok users or creators, suggesting any impact on them would be indirect.

Anyway, TikTok maintains that it does not share U.S. user data with the Chinese government and that divestment is not a feasible option. The company argues that even if divestment were possible, TikTok would lose the technology that powers the app, reducing it to “a shell of its former self.”

TikTok here or gone, it’s part of a bigger construct with the impact of social media in our lives. And that is here to stay.

Before the chaos in Florida, you might have caught what happened at a recent Las Vegas rally, where Donald Trump misgendered reggaeton star Nicky Jam while introducing him.

Look, let’s call it what it is. Trump probably had no clue who Nicky Jam was, and calling him a woman and proceeding to call him (thinking he was a she) hot is just his typical misogyny toward women in plain sight.

Specifically, Trump said, “Latin music superstar Nicky Jam. Do you know Nicky? She’s hot.” The incident occurred during a Friday event at The Expo at World Market Center.

Trump weirdly and quickly corrected himself once Nicky Jam, Nick Rivera Caminero’s real name, approached the stage. “Oh, look, I’m glad he came up,” Trump remarked. Wearing a red “Make America Great Again” cap, Nicky Jam expressed his gratitude, telling Trump, “People that come from where I come from, they don’t meet the president. So, I’m lucky. We need you. We need you back, right? We need you to be the president.”

Weird. Just plain, weird.

Nicky Jam, originally from Massachusetts and raised in Puerto Rico, is one of several reggaeton stars, including Anuel AA and Justin Quiles, who have supported Trump’s presidential candidacy. Despite the misgendering, Nicky Jam seemed to brush off the incident, posting a photo with Trump on Instagram with the caption, “Nicky jam la potra la bichota,” along with laughing emojis. The phrase translates loosely to “the filly, the big shot,” a Latin slang term popularized by Colombian singer Karol G in her 2020 song “Bichota.”

Anyway, not everyone was happy about Jam’s endorsement, and he’s receiving plenty of fallout over his appearance at the rally.

Well, well, well, so the guy who rubber-stamped the so called ‘War on Drugs’ in 1971 did not think weed was a bad drug. Not surprising. Alright, in a newly unearthed recording from March 1973, way back in the day, former President Richard Nixon admitted that he knew marijuana was “not particularly dangerous.” Despite Buddy’s role in declaring the war on drugs and rejecting a federal commission’s recommendation to decriminalize it he said:

“Let me say, I know nothing about marijuana. I know that it’s not particularly dangerous, in other words, and most of the kids are for legalizing it. But on the other hand, it’s the wrong signal at this time.” He also criticized overly harsh penalties, stating that a 30-year sentence for cannabis was “ridiculous.”

Minnesota cannabis lobbyist Kurtis Hanna recently discovered the recordings in a trove of materials uploaded by the Richard Nixon Presidential Library. What else is in there? one might wonder.

What’s wild is Nixon’s comments contrast sharply with his public image as a staunch opponent of drug use. In 1971, he declared drug misuse “public enemy number one” and began the war on drugs. The following year, he dismissed the recommendations of the Shafer Commission, a group he had appointed to study marijuana laws. The commission had suggested decriminalizing marijuana, arguing that “criminal law is too harsh a tool to apply to personal possession” and that the harm of marijuana use was “not great enough to justify intrusion by the criminal law into private behavior.”

Nixon ignored the commission’s findings but privately acknowledged that marijuana penalties were excessive.

In another recording, the disgraced former President said:

“I have no problem that there should be an evaluation of penalties on it, and there should not be penalties that, you know, like in Texas that people get 10 years for marijuana. That’s wrong.” Despite these remarks, Nixon made it clear that he did not support full legalization, stating, “But we are not for legalization, I don’t want to encourage the drug thing.”

Hanna remarked, “President Nixon, the man who signed the bill into law to put marijuana in Schedule I, who kept it in Schedule I after the Shafer Commission report, and who created the Drug Enforcement Administration through administrative action didn’t believe marijuana was addictive or dangerous.”

What’s disturbing is Nixon’s domestic policy advisor, John Ehrlichman, later revealed in a 1994 interview that the war on drugs was partly a political strategy to target “the anti-war left and Black people.” He stated, “By getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and Blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

These very telling unearthed tapes shed light on Nixon’s complex and contradictory stance on marijuana, revealing that his public policy decisions were not always aligned with his private beliefs.

Who would have thought it? Apparently, Nixon did.

Okay, we won’t add too much color to this story. Let’s get right to it. Apparently, someone tried to creep on Trump’s golf outing with an AK-47 Sunday (September 15). In case you were preoccupied with your Sunday watching football or going to church or maybe even an end-of-summer cookout, the incident occurred when U.S. Secret Service agents opened fire at Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, where Trump was playing a round. 

The alleged perp’s name is Ryan Wesley Routh. Officials are describing this as an apparent second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump. We’re not sure if Buddy took a shot. That much seems hazy to various reports.

Routh first appeared in U.S. District Court in West Palm Beach. So get this, Routh, 58, appeared like what evs, as he faced charges of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. 

Check it, an agent reportedly spotted a rifle with a scope in the bushes and fired multiple shots, prompting the person to flee the area in a black Nissan. Routh was later arrested in a neighboring county. Officials recovered a rifle, two backpacks, and a GoPro camera near the scene.

Routh is due back in court for a bond hearing on September 23. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is expected to release body camera footage of Routh’s arrest.

This time, Trump was not harmed in the incident. There were no “bloody” ears or anything, although his ears seem to heal faster than any human ears in history or recorded science.

He later commented on Truth Social, saying, “It was certainly an interesting day!”

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris stated she was glad Trump was safe, remarking, “Violence has no place in America.” President Joe Biden commented that the Secret Service “needs more help.”

ICYMI, Tagovailoa exited the Dolphins’ loss to the Buffalo Bills after a hit to the helmet caused a fencing response, a clear sign of a concussion. He was placed into the concussion protocol, marking his third such injury after missing five games in 2022 due to concussions.

Get this, during a news conference, Pierce, who played nine seasons in the NFL, advised Tagovailoa to prioritize his health and consider retirement. “I’ll be honest, I’d tell him to retire. It’s not worth it,” Pierce said. “Scary — you could see right away; the players’ faces on the field… He’s going to live longer than he’s going to play football. Take care of your family.”

What’s interesting is other NFL coaches weighed in on the issue as well. Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Pederson stressed the importance of prioritizing player health, saying, “If it was one of our guys, you have to be very careful and do the right thing for the player… You just have to continue to think about the player and the health and safety of the player.” Pederson, also a former NFL player, suggested that players should carefully consider their careers when facing recurring head injuries.

Then Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel addressed the media, emphasizing that Tagovailoa’s immediate focus should be on his health and family. “You’re talking about his career — his career is his,” McDaniel said. He urged the public to avoid speculation about Tagovailoa’s future, saying it’s not helpful at this time. McDaniel added that Tagovailoa is unlikely to play in the next game but emphasized that decisions about his future would be up to him and his medical team.

Numbers don’t lie, nor do trends, and the latter is looking favorable for Vice President Kamala Harris in her tight matchup with former President Trump.

So get this: a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll reveals that Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris is leading former Republican President Donald Trump by 47% to 42% in the race for the 2024 presidential election.

Now, in case you’re counting—and we are—this five-point lead reflects an increase from her four-point advantage in August, which was largely attributed to her strong performance in a recent debate against Trump.

What’s more, among voters familiar with the debate, 53% believed Harris won, while only 24% thought Trump did. Many cited Trump’s lack of sharpness during the debate.

ICYMI, VP Harris effectively put Trump on the defensive, particularly highlighting his felony conviction related to falsified business records. That’s putting it lightly. She destroyed him.

Among voters who followed the debate, 52% said Harris demonstrated higher moral integrity than just 29% for Trump. Even within Republican circles, 31% of voters felt neither candidate won, and 14% believed Harris outperformed Trump.

When it comes to the most epic debate of debates, the face-off attracted 67.1 million viewers and showed Harris as more dignified and relatable to voters, with 56% favoring her demeanor compared to 24% for Trump. Moreover, 49% of voters felt that Harris would better understand their concerns, while only 18% felt the same about Trump.

Despite these findings, the race will ultimately be determined by the state-by-state Electoral College results—actually seven states: North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Arizona.

Another one … As you might have seen from earlier reporting, former Danity Kane and Dirty Money artist Dawn Richard filed a sprawling lawsuit against none other than Sean “Diddy” Combs, accusing him of verbal, physical, and sexual abuse.

Let’s be clear: Diddy and his legal team have denied these claims, and it seems they plan to fight them in court.

Anyway, the 55-page document, Richard also alleges that she witnessed Diddy abuse his then-girlfriend, Cassie, during their relationship.

We said that one already, but get this. She names celebrities Usher, Ne-Yo, and music executive Jimmy Iovine as witnesses who did nothing to stop the abuse.

Again, these are her allegations.

What’s more one notable incident detailed in the lawsuit took place at a star-studded dinner in Los Angeles before Diddy signed a deal with Jimmy Iovine’s Interscope Records. Richard alleges that during the dinner, Diddy threatened and punched Cassie in the stomach in front of the guests, causing her to double over in pain. Usher and Ne-Yo were reportedly present and saw the incident unfold.

The lawsuit claims details such as:

“In front of dinner guests, Mr. Combs hissed at Ms. Ventura in a screaming whisper and forcefully punched her in the stomach, causing her to double over in visible pain, crying.”

As we mentioned, the details were fast and furious. Diddy’s attorney, Erica Wolff, responded to the lawsuit, calling the claims “false” and suggesting that Richard is seeking money in conjunction with her album release. Wolff added, “If Ms. Richard had such a negative experience with Making the Band and Danity Kane, she would not have continued working with Mr. Combs for Dirty Money or returned for the Making the Band reboot in 2020.”

Scared money doesn’t make money; in this case, scared candidates don’t want to face opponents who make them look horrible. Donald Trump announced he would not participate in a second debate with Vice President Kamala Harris following their first face-off in Philadelphia. Whoops.

Trump laughably claimed victory in the first debate, stating on Truth Social, “Polls clearly show that I won the Debate against Comrade Kamala Harris, the Democrats’ Radical Left Candidate.” He pointed to Harris’ request for a second debate as evidence of his win, writing, “When a prizefighter loses a fight, the first words out of his mouth are, ‘I WANT A REMATCH.’

Delusional, much?

As you and the rest of the world saw, multiple post-debate polls indicated that Harris was the perceived winner by a large margin, with many conservative commentators and some Trump supporters agreeing she outperformed him.

Unless you were under a rock after Trump’s debate with Joe Biden, his face off with Kamala Harris was Trump’s second in the 2024 election cycle. Biden’s irrefutably poor performance led to his withdrawal from the race, with Harris taking his place as the Democratic candidate.

That performance by President Biden might’ve just been the greatest thing to happen to democracy.

Despite Harris’ call for another debate, Trump made it clear there would be no rematch, saying, “KAMALA SHOULD FOCUS ON WHAT SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE DURING THE LAST ALMOST FOUR YEAR PERIOD. THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!”

Listen, loser energy.

Speaking at a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, Harris emphasized the importance of another debate, saying, “I believe we owe it to the voters to have another debate, because this election and what is at stake could not be more important.”

Kansas City Chiefs suer star quarterback Patrick Mahomes wants no part of the political discourse. Well, sort of doesn’t. 

The Super Bowl champion stated on Wednesday that he will not endorse any presidential candidate, including Donald Trump or Kamala Harris, despite Trump’s continued comments about Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, being a supporter of his campaign. 

Here’s what he said:

“I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever, either way,” Mahomes said, focusing instead on encouraging people to register to vote and do their own research. “I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote. It’s to inform people to do their own research and then make the best decision for them and their family.”

In case you missed the earth shattering news, his comments came after Taylor Swift, who is dating Mahomes’ teammate Travis Kelce, publicly endorsed Kamala Harris for president. 

Trump responded to Swift’s endorsement by saying in a Fox News interview, “I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan. I like Brittany. I think Brittany is great.”

Only Trump would compare Brittany Mahomes to Taylor Swift in a conversation about political endorsements. Weird.

Trump had previously referenced Brittany Mahomes after she briefly liked an Instagram post outlining the GOP platform. He posted on Truth Social: 

“I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me.” Brittany has since remained politically quiet, only responding to critics on social media, saying, “To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood.”

Get this, when asked about Trump’s remarks about his wife, Mahomes sidestepped the question, emphasizing his focus on his family. “At the end of the day, it’s about me and my family and how we treat other people.”

Of course he championed his wife, hightlighting the charitable work he and Brittany do in the community, saying, “I think you see Brittany does a lot in the community. I do a lot in the community to help bring people up, and give people an opportunity to use their voice. In political times people are going to use stuff here and there, but I can’t let that affect how I go about my business every single day of my life.”

While Mahomes declined to speak about his personal political views, he emphasized the importance of unity.

Get this, the new series, co-created by “The Office” adapter Greg Daniels and “Nathan for You” co-creator Michael Koman, is not an official spinoff but a mockumentary set within “The Office” universe.

Listen, we know some of those folks don’t like each other but like previous years, they put aside their political differences, briefly for the sake of solemn commemoration.

Check this out, a viral moment occurred when Vice President Harris and Donald Trump, fresh from their first in-person interaction at a presidential debate the night before, shared a handshake ahead of the ceremony. 

Yup, that happened. Trump initiated it after Mike Bloomberg appeared to get VP Harris’ attention on behalf of Trump. We’re speculating but that’s what the tale of the tape appear to show us.

As you would think, this simple gesture stood out, given the high tensions of current political campaigning. 

Following the solemn ceremony in New York, Biden and Harris traveled to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, to lay a wreath at the Flight 93 memorial.

At the site, Biden placed his hand on the wreath and made the sign of the cross as he observed a cross constructed from the plane’s wreckage. Biden also met with families affected by the tragedy at a local volunteer fire station, which had served as a critical gathering point in 2001.

What’s more, Biden and Harris participated in another wreath-laying ceremony at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. Trump was also expected to visit Shanksville later in the day, according to sources.

To highlight what we all know but the commemorations highlighted the lasting impact of the 9/11 attacks, which claimed nearly 3,000 lives when terrorists hijacked four planes, crashing two into the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon, and a fourth into a Pennsylvania field after passengers fought back against the hijackers.

Okay if you’re not up on your movie history, the story has seen two major cinematic versions: the 1999 film starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo, and the original 1968 version featuring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. The plot follows a wealthy man who pulls off an elaborate heist, only to face a clever and seductive investigator determined to bring him down. In the 1968 version, McQueen played a charismatic bank executive who engaged in a mental and emotional duel with Dunaway’s insurance investigator. The 1999 adaptation saw Brosnan as a “rich and successful playboy” who steals art for fun, with Russo taking on the role of the detective tasked with investigating his illicit activities.

What’s more is specifics of the new remake remain under wraps. Deadline reports that the script—initially penned by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, later revised by Drew Pearce—is based on the 1968 film.

“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.

Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.

I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.

I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. He felt the need to say this wild claim as he criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and the Biden administration’s handling of immigration.

Trump’s remarks, made on the national stage, hurling these crazy claims and accusing immigrants – naturally, without evidence – of killing and consuming cats and dogs, yes, that part echoes seriously harmful stereotypes.

But racism is a thing. And Trump’s been accused of it. Time and time again. 

Get this: The baseless rumor appears to have originated online, as all things do in this day and age. Actually, it was on a Facebook group in Springfield, Ohio. Local authorities have denied any truth to the claims, with Springfield’s city manager stating that there is no credible evidence to suggest such incidents have occurred.

ABC moderator David Muir quoted local officials who found no proof to support these alarming accusations.

Womp, womp. 

However, Trump doubled down: 

“What they have done to our country by allowing these millions and millions of people to come into our country… look at what’s happening to towns all over the United States. A lot of towns don’t want to talk about it because they’re so embarrassed by it in Springfield.” He went on to claim, “They’re eating the dogs, the people that came in, they’re eating the cats. They’re eating the pets of the people that live there, and this is what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame.”

Wild. 

Following the debate, which many pundits and journalist on both sides of the aisle felt Kamala handedly won, disavowed the remarks. 

Many Democrats, including Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, condemned Trump’s vile lies.

Ellison said: ”The baseless claim that Haitian immigrants in Ohio are eating pets is not only a lie, it’s a racist lie designed to dehumanize Haitian immigrants as savages, which Trump does all the time.”

Trump’s ramblings at the debate are a pattern of fear-mongering and misinformation in political discourse. But he’s no stranger to it. This time around, there was a candidate standing opposite him ready for his nonsense, a credit to Vice President Harris who was clearly the only stable politician on that stage.

Twenty-five years ago, the MTV Video Music Awards celebrated the diversity of hip hop during an impactful year. 

By the dawn of the new millennium, hip-hop was at a crossroads. 

There was still a significant void after the killings of Tupac Shakur in 1996 and the Notorious B.I.G. in 1997. Their deaths stemmed from an intense east coast/west coast turf war where nobody dared to cross enemy lines. 

Allegiances were seemingly set in stone, but cracks started to show in 1999. There was plenty of talent to go around regardless of the fealty of one particular region.

Jay Z, Nas, and DMX respectively took over New York. Eminem put Detroit on the map with the release of The Slim Shady LP. Snoop Dogg found peace with Master P’s No Limit Records after tumultuous tenure with Death Row Records and the release of his No Limit debut No Limit Top Dogg. Cash Money Records featuring Lil Wayne, B.G, the Hot Boys, and Juvenile helped to sustain the south. 

The phenomena of nu-metal, a unique blend of rap, heavy metal, and grunge, were pervasive with Limp Bizkit and Korn.

Women in hip hop reached critical mass in 1999. Lauryn Hill was riding high off the success of her groundbreaking album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Lil Kim was coming into her own post Biggie with her blistering lyricism and fashion sense as she prepped for her second album The Notorious K.I.M. Missy Elliot held double duty as a trendsetting artist, producer, and music video revolutionary with her sophomore album Da Real World. TLC came back from a five year hiatus with their fan appreciation album Fanmail. 

The moral panic surrounding the perceived social ills of popular music and its connection with youth culture had shifted towards the satanism of Marilyn Manson and so called “goth music”. In the aftermath of that year’s shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado the shooters were accused of being influenced by the music.

A few years prior it was “gangsta rap” being subjected to congressional hearings and organized boycotts of  Time Warner and other major labels by civic leaders such as C. Delores Tucker alongside former Reagan Education Secretary William Bennett. 

By 1999, hip hop was an embedded part of American popular culture. It was infused into everything from movies, commercials, sports, and fashion. 

Those elements came to the fore at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City during some notable moments. 

Lauryn Hill took home four awards, including the VMA for the coveted Video Of The Year for “Doo Wop (That Thing).” 

Lil Kim rocked a lavender pasties outfit inspired by Missy Elliot, and Diana Ross jiggled her breast while presenting the award for Best Hip Hop Video alongside Mary J. Blige, where The Beastie Boys won for their song ”Intergalactic”

It was during the acceptance speech that Adam Horovitz made a plea about respect for women and girls and safety at music festivals after the horrific acts of violence on display at that summer’s Woodstock 99, where there were multiple incidents of sexual assault. 

In a heartfelt moment, Will Smith introduced Afeni Shakur (Tupac mother’s) and Voletta Wallace (Biggie’s mother) to present the award for Best Rap Video, which went to Jay Z for “Can I Get A…” ft. Ja Rule and Amil off the Rush Hour soundtrack. 

Eminem won for Best New Artist Video for “My Name Is” while also performing alongside Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre. TLC performed “No Scrubs,” and the video won for Best Group Video. 

In replacement of DMX, who was scheduled to perform, Jay Z took the stage and performed “It’s A Hard Knock Life”, “Can I Get A…”, and “Jigga My N—-”.

The 99 VMAs were more than an annual award ceremony honoring the best in music at the dawn of a new century; they solidified hip hop’s forever place in the broader culture. 

There wasn’t a need for any singular voice or even a handful to carry the weight, a collection of artists with a vast array of skills from all regions of the country kept the music alive.

Guess who’s back? It’s EZ & Trilla, your favorite twins from Atlanta. They just dropped a new single called “Rock-A-Bye Baby“, and it’s already making waves. Since its video dropped in mid-August, the track has been racking up serious numbers on YouTube, proving once again why these two are a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. But this time, they didn’t come alone; they brought Sensei Kyh along for the ride, adding a whole new flavor to their already unique sound.

So what’s the vibe with “Rock-A-Bye Baby”? If you’ve ever heard an EZ & Trilla track before, you know these two aren’t just riding trends—they’re creating their own lane. EZ, the older twin by a whole two minutes, jokes about how people expect them to be perfectly in sync all the time. But the truth is, they have this crazy twin telepathy that makes their music feel like a conversation. “We barely need to talk in the studio,” EZ says with a smile. “I’ll be thinking something, and Trilla’s already playing it.”

The duo’s independent label, Boss Club Dynasty, is the engine behind their hustle. They’re not signed to a major label, and they’re proud of it. Trilla chimes in, “We’ve always wanted to do things our way.” From day one, they’ve been in the studio, working hard, creating their own beats, and releasing their own music. Their journey began when they were just 12 years old. They were messing around with a beat-making program called REASONS and recording tracks with a cheap computer mic. Trilla laughs, remembering, “We’d cover the mic with three socks to try and make it sound better.” It wasn’t fancy, but it was a start. When they turned 15, their dad, a resourceful mechanic, even transformed part of his shop into a studio for them. EZ gets a little nostalgic as he recalls, “It wasn’t much to look at, but it was ours. That’s where we really found our groove.”

Fast forward to today, all that hard work? It’s paid off big time. Their last single, “Vintage”, was a hit, no doubt. But “Rock-A-Bye Baby”? This one feels different. It’s on another level. The track itself has this hypnotic vibe, heavy bass, and a slow, haunting melody. Trust us, it’ll get stuck in your head. And with Sensei Kyh featured on it? The song takes on a whole new life. Trilla says, “Kyh brought his own flavor. We made the cake, and he brought the icing.”

But it’s the video that’s really blowing up online. Since it dropped on YouTube, the views have been crazy. Sure, the visuals are amazing – the cinematic shots and edgy look are definitely a plus. But it’s the energy EZ & Trilla bring that really makes it special. EZ explains, “We wanted the video to be a whole mood, not just a performance. It had to match the song, which is chill but still has this intensity, you know?”

Their music isn’t just making noise in the U.S., it’s resonating globally. Fans from Jamaica to Africa are grooving to their unique beats. It’s been a long road, though. High school expulsion, the challenges of the independent music scene – they’ve faced it all. But they’ve turned those hurdles into stepping stones. Looking ahead, they’re aiming high. Trilla puts it simply: “BET Awards, Billboard hits, collaborations with the best. We’re going all the way.”

Want their advice for breaking into the music scene? “Don’t tell everyone your plans. Some folks will try to bring you down the second they know what you’re working on.” EZ adds, “Stay focused, stay hungry, keep pushing.” Their bond as twins is a huge part of their success. Trilla explains, “We’ve always got each other’s back. When you’re in sync like that, it’s unstoppable. We’re like two halves of the same whole.”

Well, this looks different … Read, set, go …On Friday (Sept. 6) Quavo dropped a teaser trailer for his fans to his upcoming live-action CGI film “Takeover.” In true sign of the times fashion, the visual was posted on the Gram. 

Now it’s just a short clip but it features what appears to be a near-lifelike version of the rapper turned actor tearing up an Atlanta roadway with a child in the backseat – ouch – while a bald man sits in the front passenger seat, holding a gun to Quavo’s side. Okay, now we’re getting somewhere. 

The visual is pretty intense and also gives viewers a police chase, blending Atlanta’s street racing culture, specifically street takeovers, with a world of high-stakes crime. Sounds like the logline to us.

Okay, so according to “Variety”, the gist of “Takeover” centers around Gamal Akopyan, the leader of an international heist ring, who uses street takeovers to pull off massive robberies. After his latest heist goes wrong, Akopyan must navigate the dangerous Atlanta takeover scene to escape — with nine figures’ worth of diamonds in tow. In addition to Quavo, actor Billy Zane will also star in the film.

Here’s what Quavo said in a statement: 

”Takeover” is unlike anything you’ve seen before and will blow minds. This film brings a whole new vibe that’s about to change the game, and I’m really hyped to share it with my fans.”

If you didn’t know, because we didn’t, Atlanta has become a hot spot for street racing and sideshows, where drivers block off streets to perform car stunts, often in the midst of illegal activities. 

Not get this, the film’s hybrid format, combining live-action and animation, aims to capture the allure and controversy of these street takeovers. Interesting artistic take.

ICYMI, Quavo’s acting career has been on the rise since he made his debut alongside his Migos groupmates, Takeoff and Offset, with a guest spot on FX’s “Atlanta” in 2016. He later made his film debut in 2022, appearing alongside Robert De Niro, John Malkovich, and Jack Huston in “Savage Salvation”. In 2023, Quavo landed a prominent role in “Praise This”, and he recently starred in John Travolta’s action-heist film “Cash Out”.

Outside of gracing the big and small screen, Quavo has also contributed to film soundtracks. Alongside generating buzz for “Takeover”, he recently promoted his collaboration with Ty Dolla Sign, “If I Fall”, which will be featured on the soundtrack for “Transformers One”. In the track, Quavo raps, “I’m in my prime, Optimus (Optimus), I’m goin’ big, Megatron,” a nod to the iconic “Transformers” characters. The song will play during the film’s end credits when it hits theaters on September 20.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die star Will Smith has officially taken his name out of the hat of the highly anticipated action-thriller “Sugar Bandits.” Now, the production is without its headline star. 

So what’s up with that? According to Deadline Hollywood, Smith’s departure is attributed to “scheduling conflicts.” That’s interesting, as most scheduling is lined up before stars commit to big tentpole projects, but what do we know? 

Still, it remains unclear which of his upcoming projects may have caused the alleged conflict. Smith has several projects in the pipeline, including the much-anticipated “I Am Legend 2,” in which he is set to co-star with Michael B. Jordan.

Get this: Smith’s exit places the film’s future in a weird position, especially regarding box office potential. Distributors had eagerly signed on to back the $80 million production at Cannes and the European Film Market (EFM), largely because of Smith’s involvement as the lead.

What’s interesting is Smith will continue to be attached to the project as a producer through his production company Westbrook, but finding a replacement actor who can carry the same star power is now a real concern.

There are some big shoes to fill and the clock is ticking. 

”Sugar Bandits” was scheduled to begin filming in the coming months. Despite the setback, the filmmakers are still eyeing a 2025 release date, but that will depend on how quickly a new lead can be secured.

What’s more, the film is set to be directed by Stefano Sollima (“Sicario: Day of the Soldado”) and is based on Chuck Hogan’s novel Devils in Exile. 

The story centers on a former special forces soldier who leads a team of vigilantes to take down Boston’s drug trade. Hogan is also attached as the film’s screenwriter.

Deadline wrote in their report that Smith’s departure “throws a major wrench into the film’s production schedule,” and without a new lead, the distributors who initially supported the project may reevaluate their commitment. Whether a new actor can step into the role and satisfy the high expectations that distributors and fans alike had for the film with Smith in the driver’s seat remains to be seen.

The film centers on a father, Mercer, who becomes caught up in a dangerous heist while desperately trying to protect his son from criminals during the chaos that erupted after the Rodney King verdict.

Snoop Dogg is an executive producer. Here’s what he said …

“1992 was a life-changing time for me, from “Deep Cover” to “The Chronic.” But as things in my life were coming together, everything in LA was coming apart. “1992” is a heist movie that really captures all of that. This movie is about an LA moment. Ariel made an outstanding film that depicts this moment in time. From my first encounter with Tyrese in “Baby Boy” to the performance in “1992,” I had to be a part of this. And it’s only fitting that the film come out under Death Row Pictures as Death Row is synonymous with LA culture in the 90’s, ya dig?”

The film boasts an ensemble cast including Clé Bennett, Dylan Arnold, Christopher A’mmanuel, Michael Beasley, Ori Pfeffer, Tosin Morohunfola, and Oleg Taktarov.
