Diesel’s new fragrance, Sound of the Brave, is finally in stores and the company hosted a concert featuring Flo Milli, Luh Kel, and A. Chal in commemoration.

The DJ duo, Angel and Dren, warmed the crowd up as they enjoyed featured cocktails like the Blue Bison Bellini and the Amber Aperol Spritz.

The festivities were originally supposed to take place on Elsewhere’s Rooftop but the organizers moved the party to the indoor section of the Brooklyn venue due to the weather.

A. Chal kicked off the performances followed by Luh Kel, but the crowd really started rolling in around 10 PM when Flo Milli was set to take the stage. Terrence J had the crowd pumping throughout the night.

Flo started off with her latest solo musical effort, “Roaring 20s” then performed a slew of fan-favorites for the intimate crowd including “May I?”, “Like That B*tch,” and her breakout single “Weak.”

Best of the Best is returning for the 15th annual concert after last year’s celebration was canceled in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Koffee, Spice, Lady G, Tanya Stephens, Tarrus Riley, Ding Dong, Tee Jay, Bunji Garlin, and more.

The event’s producers hosted an intimate launch at Racket-Wynwood where BOTB performer, Jo Mersa Marley attended. “Growing up I always saw Best of the Best concert, posters and promotions, the artists performing on the big stage, well now I am on that Best of the Best stage. Come out Sunday Oct. 10^th mek we blaze a fire and full joy” said Jo Mersa Marley.

Also, in attendance was one of this year’s returning sponsors Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) represented by Mr. Christopher Wright, Business Development Manager, who kicked off the night with the now staple slogan We’re Back. “We’re Back, and ready to enjoy good reggae and soca music, there is nothing like a good Caribbean concert and most of all we can’t forget the food. Congratulations to the Best of the Best team and we are happy to be a part of this great music fest again this year.”
As the conversation continued Consul General of Jamaica Mr. Oliver Mair, also congratulated the organizers, and applauded their efforts to make sure this is a safe and responsible festival, amid the ever-changing world we are living in today. “We applaud the organizers of Best of the Best, for entertaining responsibly. Inside the park on Sunday Oct. 10^th there will be vaccination opportunity for the patrons attending this year staging as well as sanitize stations.”

Similar to most millennials, FLASHGRFX spent a lot of his time as an adolescent coding and designing elaborate Myspace page layouts, which garnered the attention of his peers and he eventually began getting hired to design layouts for others.

Flash started designing party flyers and music cover arts, but the most pivotal moment of his career was when he designed a cover for one of the most successful emcees from his city: Meek Mill.

Flash was connected to the Philly emcee through a mutual friend and the rest was history after Meek posted Flash’s artwork for his song “From Da Bottom” on his social media pages. 

Flash saw more success after participating in The Game’s Year of the Wolf artwork contest. The Hip Hop veteran praised the Philly designer for designing his favorite cover art, but the bag was fumbled because Flash failed to get permission from the photographer to use the image. Flash was grateful for the exposure and the copyright lesson and went on to do great things.

Flash designed artwork for the likes of Gucci Mane for his 3x-platinum single “Both” featuring Drake. He also designed the artwork for Megan Thee Stallion’s double-platinum hit record, “Hot Girl Summer” featuring Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla Sign.

Flash’s work has been recognized Internationally after working on three separate projects for Burna Boy. He designed the cover art for three of the singles on his Grammy-award winning album, Twice As Tall, including the lead single, “Wonderful.” Flash was tapped to design the artwork for Burna Boy’s lead singles “KILOMETRES” and “Want It All” featuring Polo G, which may appear on his upcoming album Outsiders. 

WizKid and Tems’ “Essence” and MoneyBagg Yo’s “Wockesha” were two big records of 2021 and Flash had a hand in both! He directed the official lyric video for the “Essence” remix featuring Justin Bieber and designed the artwork for the “Wockesha” remix featuring Lil Wayne and Ashanti.

Flash is even a part of female rap history after designing the first-ever diamond plaque awarded to a female rapper.

What started off as a hobby transformed into an opportunity to inspire and build generational wealth by monetizing digital artwork. 

Although he’s been putting in work for over a decade, this is just the beginning for Flash Grfx.

Nas‘ brother, Jungle, recalls almost getting into a fight with 2Pac during an appearance on Apple Music 1’s Rap Life Radio.

The duo told Ebro Darden that things went left after Jungle proudly proclaimed his loyalty to Mobb Deep in front of the late rapper.

“I’m in the seats at the spot. And somebody came and said, ‘Yeah, your brother and them is getting it on in the lobby or whatever,’ or something like that,” explained Nas. “So I got up and I went out there, but it was already squashed at that point.”

Jungle said Nas was presenting an award and he ran into 2Pac while grabbing a beverage. 

“I went to get a drink and I saw this girl that looked lost,” Jungle said, citing his young age at the time of this incident. “So I’m like, ‘Where are you going?’ She’s like, ‘I’m looking for my friends.’ I said, ‘Who?’ ‘Death Row.’ I was like, ‘What? When I see one of them, I’m going to take a chain.’ And then she was laughing. I was trying to make her laugh to come get a drink with me. But I was on some Queensbridge Mobb Deep shit. It’s like, yeah, Mobb Deep in the house. I’m going to take a chain.”

Shortly after, the Death Row crew were walking in Jungle and the young woman’s direction. “I yelled it out, ‘Yo, Mobb Deep in the house. I will take a Death Row chain,'” he said. “They came right back with Pac, and he’s looking like, ‘Who said that?’ … And I was like, ‘Oh god.’ And I was with his guy, Moose, and Moose was like, ‘Man, yo, I got you. I see everybody and they don’t even know I’m with you.’ And he’s like this karate expert from Queens bridge. … I said it again, ‘Mobb Deep, what’s up Pac? What’s up? I’ll take your chain right now.’ And then they surrounded me again. They surrounded me, all, ‘What’s up with you? All it is. And Death Row, we here to die. You don’t know Death Row.’ They had razors in their hands, everything.”

2Pac had beef with Mobb Deep and things hit a peak when Pac referenced Prodigy’s battle with sickle cell disease on the 1996 diss track, “Hit Em Up.”

ATL Chris Robinson took to Instagram to tease the trailer for ATL 2: Homecoming starring T.I., Lauren London, Jason Weaver, Jackie Long, Evan Ross, and Albe Back.

“HEY @chancetherapper WHAT IF…….. WE DID IT ONE MORE TIME + #THE FAMILY,” Robinson captioned the preview.

Chance The Rapper tweeted on Wednesday, “I believe ATL is a movie that never truly got it’s flowers. It’s probably the most quotable movie from my childhood.”

The preview for ATL 2 was met with mixed reviews on Twitter but Lauren London began trending. “Me going to see ATL 2 just to see Lauren London,” one fan tweeted, meanwhile another user wrote, “I know y’all didn’t bother Lauren London to do this.”

It looks like everyone from the original movie reprised their role because Robinson even tagged Big Boi, who portrayed Marcus.

ATL was released in 2006 and marked Robinson’s directorial debut. It was produced by Dallas Austin and T-Boz and loosely based on their experiences growing up in Atlanta.

Will Smith also served as a producer and was a force behind the film’s success. They [the studio] were trying to give us like a limited release, a limited screen release, which is what they do with a lot of Black films in Hollywood and what that does, it doesn’t put you on an even level playing field [for box office revenue or press] where you can actually compete because you’re not in the same amount of theaters,” Weaver said on the Talk2pops podcast.

The veteran actor went on to explain that limited screenings hinder a movie’s success despite its critical acclaim. “With Will and his production company, they fought tooth and nail to make sure that we were at least in the same amount of theaters as ‘Ice Age 2,’ which I think was out at the time,” Weaver continued.

ATL went on to become a cult classic and officially launched Lauren London’s acting career, With a budget of just $7 million, ATL tripled, bringing in over $21 million throughout its run. The film also won an award at the BET Hip Hop Awards in 2006. 

News of a sequel was first reported in 2015 then reignited two years later. “I know that they are working on it, and I know that this is something that they are trying to push forward,” London confirmed.

Billboard reports Ye profited $12 million from hosting three listening events for DONDA.

At least 42,000 fans attended the sold-out first event at the Mercedes Benz Stadium. Each general audience member paid between $25 and $100 for a ticket.

Two weeks later, the Yeezus rapper hosted a second listening event after moving into the arena and previewed another rough cut of the album.

Kanye reportedly earned $7 million from in-person merchandise sales and topped his own Apple Music streaming record with 5.4 million viewers.

The third listening event for his yet-to-be-released album was in Chicago and featured a replica of his childhood home in the middle of Chicago’s Soldier Field.

The rapper sparked controversy by inviting Marilyn Manson on stage with him, who faces accusations and lawsuits from several women alleging sexual assault and abuse. A representative for Manson told NBC News Friday that his voice is featured on Donda, “and he will continue to conceptually collaborate with Ye on the Donda project.”

DaBaby was invited to the same stage, but fans didn’t seem too happy about him replacing JAY-Z’s verse in the original version of the album we all heard. “carti verse cut on Junya and dababy replacing Hov bro im buying a stem player and fixing this album,” one user tweeted.

In less than 45 Days, Experience Freaknik years ago, it was a wildly popular unofficial “Black Spring Break” known for The biggest block party in ATL.

Initially launched in 1983, Historically Black College and University students traveled in large numbers to partake in Freaknik. At its peak, it attracted a quarter of a million attendees. Two years back, it returned as a family-friendly all-day festival and concert.

The documentation of Freaknik is what has kept the spirit of the celebration alive. After9 Partners will be partnering up with the Georgia State Health Department to offer free Covid -19 testing and vaccination shots for the patrons of Freaknik. They will open the festival one hour early for everyone who has a negative Covid test, vaccine card, or whoever wants to be safe and party. The Festival Takes Pl., October 8th -10th at Morris Brown College. Tickets are on sale now for $10 a day when purchasing a foreplay group package. Doesn’t get any better than that!

ATL Chris Robinson took to Instagram to tease the trailer for ATL 2: Homecoming starring T.I., Lauren London, Jason Weaver, Jackie Long, Evan Ross, and Albe Back.

“HEY @chancetherapper WHAT IF…….. WE DID IT ONE MORE TIME + #THE FAMILY,” Robinson captioned the preview.

Chance The Rapper tweeted on Wednesday, “I believe ATL is a movie that never truly got it’s flowers. It’s probably the most quotable movie from my childhood.”

The preview for ATL 2 was met with mixed reviews on Twitter but Lauren London began trending. “Me going to see ATL 2 just to see Lauren London,” one fan tweeted, meanwhile another user wrote, “I know y’all didn’t bother Lauren London to do this.”

It looks like everyone from the original movie reprised their role because Robinson even tagged Big Boi, who portrayed Marcus.

ATL was released in 2006 and marked Robinson’s directorial debut. It was produced by Dallas Austin and T-Boz and loosely based on their experiences growing up in Atlanta.

Will Smith also served as a producer and was a force behind the film’s success. They [the studio] were trying to give us like a limited release, a limited screen release, which is what they do with a lot of Black films in Hollywood and what that does, it doesn’t put you on an even level playing field [for box office revenue or press] where you can actually compete because you’re not in the same amount of theaters,” Weaver said on the Talk2pops podcast.

The veteran actor went on to explain that limited screenings hinder a movie’s success despite its critical acclaim. “With Will and his production company, they fought tooth and nail to make sure that we were at least in the same amount of theaters as ‘Ice Age 2,’ which I think was out at the time,” Weaver continued.

ATL went on to become a cult classic and officially launched Lauren London’s acting career, With a budget of just $7 million, ATL tripled, bringing in over $21 million throughout its run. The film also won an award at the BET Hip Hop Awards in 2006. 

News of a sequel was first reported in 2015 then reignited two years later. “I know that they are working on it, and I know that this is something that they are trying to push forward,” London confirmed.

Nas‘ brother, Jungle, recalls almost getting into a fight with 2Pac during an appearance on Apple Music 1’s Rap Life Radio.

The duo told Ebro Darden that things went left after Jungle proudly proclaimed his loyalty to Mobb Deep in front of the late rapper.

“I’m in the seats at the spot. And somebody came and said, ‘Yeah, your brother and them is getting it on in the lobby or whatever,’ or something like that,” explained Nas. “So I got up and I went out there, but it was already squashed at that point.”

Jungle said Nas was presenting an award and he ran into 2Pac while grabbing a beverage. 

“I went to get a drink and I saw this girl that looked lost,” Jungle said, citing his young age at the time of this incident. “So I’m like, ‘Where are you going?’ She’s like, ‘I’m looking for my friends.’ I said, ‘Who?’ ‘Death Row.’ I was like, ‘What? When I see one of them, I’m going to take a chain.’ And then she was laughing. I was trying to make her laugh to come get a drink with me. But I was on some Queensbridge Mobb Deep shit. It’s like, yeah, Mobb Deep in the house. I’m going to take a chain.”

Shortly after, the Death Row crew were walking in Jungle and the young woman’s direction. “I yelled it out, ‘Yo, Mobb Deep in the house. I will take a Death Row chain,'” he said. “They came right back with Pac, and he’s looking like, ‘Who said that?’ … And I was like, ‘Oh god.’ And I was with his guy, Moose, and Moose was like, ‘Man, yo, I got you. I see everybody and they don’t even know I’m with you.’ And he’s like this karate expert from Queens bridge. … I said it again, ‘Mobb Deep, what’s up Pac? What’s up? I’ll take your chain right now.’ And then they surrounded me again. They surrounded me, all, ‘What’s up with you? All it is. And Death Row, we here to die. You don’t know Death Row.’ They had razors in their hands, everything.”

2Pac had beef with Mobb Deep and things hit a peak when Pac referenced Prodigy’s battle with sickle cell disease on the 1996 diss track, “Hit Em Up.”

Women championed their beauty on the popular social media app with the #WockeshaChallenge. “Taste like water sweet like fruit, wet like water can I love on you,” MoneyBagg rapped on the TikTok sound that helped push the song to the top of the charts.

Moneybagg Yo secured his first No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart as “Wockesha” advanced from No. 3 to lead the list dated Aug. 28th. 

The single became the format’s most-heard song in the week ending Aug. 22nd. The Memphis rapper has had quite the year of accomplishments, also taking the lead with the highest-selling rap album of 2021. 

The latest numbers show that MoneyBagg Yo’s A Gangsta’s Pain sold 777,000 copies, the highest-selling album of the year.

The “All Dat” rapper made his debut on the Billboard 200 chart in 2017 with Heartless, which peaked at No. 177. 

His current era has definitely cemented his status as one of the hottest Hip Hop acts in the past year.

Tennis icons Serena and Venus Williams both announced Wednesday that they are withdrawing from the upcoming U.S. Open due to medical reasons. Serena stated she has a torn hamstring, and Venus stated she’s suffering from a leg injury.

Serena, who has reigned supreme at the event six times in her career, was the first to make the announcement that she would not participate this year. She shared in an Instagram post she was advised to let her body fully recover rather than play in the Grand Slam tournament in Queens, New York, which is due to start on Aug. 30. 

“After careful consideration and following the advice of my doctors and medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the U.S. Open to allow my body to heal completely from a torn hamstring,” she wrote. “New York is one of the most exciting cities in the world and one of my favorite places to play – I’ll miss seeing the fans but will be cheering everyone on from afar.” 

“Thank you for your continued support and love,” she said. “I’ll see you soon.” 

Not too long after, Venus shared that she also was withdrawing. “Not the best news from Serena and I today,” she said in a video posted to Twitter. “I too am unable to play the U.S. Open.” 

She stated that she was having issues with her leg all summer and couldn’t work through it. “I’m gonna miss the Open — it’s my favorite Slam,” Venus said. “I’ve had so many amazing memories there, and I can’t wait to get back out on the court, whenever that is.”

Courtesy of its new remix with Justin Bieber, Wizkid’s “Essence,” featuring Tems landed in the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with a 13-5 lift on the chart dated Aug. 28. 

The latest version now with Bieber as a featured act adds to the single’s rise as the latest crossover success for the Afrobeats genre. With this jump, Wizkid earned his second Top 10 record. He previously made it to the Top after joining forces with Drake for One Dance which also featured Kyla. The infamous song was No. 1 for  18 weeks in 2016. 

This marks Tems debuut on the Top 10 chart. Bieber is no stranger to the No.1 spot having held down the spot for 7 weeks in April courtesy of his song Peaches featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon. 

“Essence,” which dropped in February off of Wiz Kid’s Made In Lagos album, has been gaining notoriety as a possible contender for song of the summer.

Fat Joe and former Terror Squad rapper Cuban Link have a long and ugly beef with each other. The two have been going back and forth over the years, and it looks like problems were reignited.

After throwing shade at Fat Joe for not being at Big Pun’s street naming ceremony in April 2021, Cuban Link is back with receipts and allegations against the “Lean Back” rapper. 

On Wednesday evening, Cuban uploaded a series of posts accusing the rapper of talking to police back when he was hustling in the Bronx. The first post shared was a news broadcast by veteran radio personality Star on his YouTube show The Star Report speaking on the paperwork he received that claims Fat Joe snitched. 

“Fat Joe exposed on snitching charge,” Cuban Link stated in the caption. “Big shout out to star for reporting the truth and keeping it [100] percent across the board!!! Now you might understand why I couldn’t get along with that animal but I guess let’s wait for the authenticity of this here paperwork.” 

In the second post, fans got to see the details of the alleged paperwork that states the Terror Squad head honcho cooperated with authorities and dropped the dime on a few gangbangers. 

According to the report, he told police he sold crack cocaine on Union Avenue in The Bronx while stating a man named Marqueo Stroud killed someone called Truth as a favor for a local street crew.   

The report continues to state that Stroud and two other men named Fat Chino (Arnold Rodriguez) and Shorty (Jose Serrano) orchestrated their plan. The “What’s Luv” rapper also allegedly revealed the names of other men who committed murders involved with the initial crime.

August 28th was officially declared Angela Yee Day by New York Mayor De Blasio and she celebrates the day by paying homage to her Caribbean and Brooklyn roots.

“The outdoor community event will include music, food and live performances from hip-hop and Caribbean artists Naomi Cowan, Shaneil Muir, Noah Powa, HoodCelebrityy, Romain Virgo, Adrian Marcel, Erick the Architect, Capella Grey and Alison Hinds, among others. Sponsors will include Chick-fil-A, Drink Fresh Juice, Miss Jessie’s and more. The event is free and open to all ages,” as per the press release.

The festivities is going down on Saturday, August 28th, 2021 from 12 PM to 5 PM at the Restoration Plaza in Brooklyn.

Showtime announced the TV adaptation of the 1999 romantic comedy The Wood is in the works at their virtual Television Critics Association (TCA) presentation.

The Wood starred Omar Epps as “Mike”, Taye Diggs as “Roland,” and Richard T. Jones as “Slim.”

The movie followed three Black men born and raised in the gentrifying suburb of Inglewood as they reflect on their lifelong friendship through the decades. It is an honest look at men trying to navigate love and your Black card will be revoked if you didn’t already watch it.

The TV adaptation is described as:

“An honest look at friendship and dating from the perspective of three young Black males born and raised in the gentrifying L.A. suburb of Inglewood, fondly referred to by locals as the City Of Champions. The trio’s struggles to balance fatherhood, ambition and loyalty force them to question if they are growing apart … or closer together.

Richard Famiyua who directed and co-created the film, will be directing the pilot. Although it is not confirmed if the original cast will be making an appearance in the TV series we know the project will acknowledge the characters of the film while highlighting a group of “young Black men and women trying to navigate life, love, and likes on the ’Gram.” 

There’s no tentative release date but we’re sitting at the edge of our seats waiting for The Wood to make its debut on the small screen on Showtime.

PNB Rock entered an open guilty plea to one count of possession with intent to deliver and one count of receiving stolen property. 

The “Selfish” rapper was sentenced to 36 months of probation on each count, running simultaneously, and was ordered to complete 100 hours of community service, according to a report by CBS 3 Philly.

Bensalem Police began investigating the Philly native in November 2018 after receiving several complaints of loud parties and the smell of weed coming from his residence. Officers also reported smelling marijuana, which led to probable cause the resident was selling the drug. 

The Special Investigations Unit completed a search warrant on January 20, taking five pounds of marijuana, several scales and packaging items, a stolen .40-caliber handgun, and $33,000 in cash.

The Catch These Vibes artist’s girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, was also arrested. Sibounheuang plead guilty in September 2019 to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to six months of probation.

PNB Rock denied the allegations in an Instagram Story after he posted bond. “I don’t know what the fuck they was talking about,” he said in the video. “It wasn’t me! What the fuck? I look like I’m selling drugs? Never!”

PnB teased the possibility of new music and included fans in the vetting process for his upcoming musical effort. Hopefully, things get resolved soon so that more music can be heard from the 29-year-old.

Blac Chyna has been mentioned on a countless number of songs from Future’s “Blow a Bag” to Nicki Minaj’s verse on Yo Gotti’s “Rake It Up.” She made a number of music video and magazine appearances. Drake arguably made her a household name after name-dropping her in “Miss Me.”

“Call up King of Diamonds and tell Chyna it’d be worth the flight,” the Toronto rapper spit.

Blac Chyna’s exotic looks and mystique grabbed the attention of mainstream media and she rose to prominence in the 2010s.

She starred Tyga‘s “Rack City” video which she noted was the most fun set and “the most epic one was with Nicki [Minaj for Monster].”

But now she’s ready to step into the booth and tell her story in her own words. “I’m just happy that I kind of like, was very silent. So now I’m talking about my music and my endeavors … it just makes it you know, even more better. Like people are really like listening to me, like literally from music and anything,” she said during a phone interview.

The public has an opinion on Blac Chyna based on the media, reality television, and her ‘no-f**ks-given’ persona. Now she gets to re-write her narrative as she steps into familiar territory but in a different position.

Blac Chyna has already released a slew of singles with some notable features including “Doom” featuring Asian Doll, “My Word” featuring Keak da Sneak and Too Short, “Cash Only” featuring Trippie Redd, and “Thick” featuring Desiigner.

“So actually I have two songs with Desiigner: [Thick] and another one I haven’t released yet. But my brother Mally Mal, he’s like a super producer, he put that play together for us,” Chyna shared when asked how did her collaboration with the Brooklyn artist came to fruition.

Chyna does get help with her songwriting but that doesn’t mean that she isn’t serious about her craft.

“I hate when people say, ‘Oh, my God, cause you got a writer … you’re not serious about music.’ … The most popular people that we listened to on Apple Music, it be like 10 writers, eight writers at the bottom. So all that is like a facade, and people got to tap in on it,” she said in a phone interview.

Speaking more about the creative process Blac Chyna said, “Even if you do write the song all by yourself, it might not make sense to somebody else … One thing I realized when I’m in these writing groups is I don’t really talk really that much ebonics. So I had to like force myself to like, add more slang to it because it cuz some words need to be slang down not like all proper.”

Chyna is used to grinding for everything that she has, so this is yet another challenge to her. Thankfully she can get feedback and criticism from friends like Nicki Minaj, who already heard some of her unreleased music. “I send her songs and I’m like, ‘Hey, what do you think about this? What do you think about that?’ And she likes when I do the more … melodic, vibey stuff.”

Blac Chyna is working on an EP but she noticed a major difference in the music industry from when she first entered a decade ago. “When i was younger the songs are longer, like three minutes. Now they’re like a minute and some seconds. Like I couldn’t figure out why artists are making the song so much shorter. It’s because people’s attention span is so short and they only listen to like the first verse and then on to the next song. Like in the club, you’re not listening to like the full song unless it’s just a straight-up hit.”

Music isn’t the only thing keeping the mother of two, entrepreneur, model, and now recording artist busy.

When speaking on why she rarely did interviews, Blac Chyna responded, “It was just like nothing to talk about, you know. So with me doing music and stuff I feel like okay, now I have a reason to do interviews. Because before what you see is what you get … The last two years, I’ve been more vocal, and it’s still working for me because I never was like a loudmouth girl.”

Beyonce and JAY-Z appeared in the jewelry company’s latest campaign and the singer is seen wearing the Tiffany Diamond, making her the fourth person in history and first Black woman to ever do so.

The campaign received some backlash as some critics accused the singer of wearing a blood diamond.

“Tiffany’s put Beyoncé in a diamond —“discovered” in a colonial mine in Kimberly in 1877—that no black woman has ever worn before in an ad with a never-ever-before-seen Basquiat and then pledged $2 million in scholarships & internships to HBCUs,” one user wrote in a now-viral tweet.

Tina Lawson caught wind of the criticism and swiftly came to her daughter’s defense. “How many of you socially conscious activist own diamonds ? I thought so ! Well guess what did you go to try to check to see where the diamond came from? Probably not,” she said.

She continued: “So when you guys get engaged you won’t have a diamond you gonna put on a sterling silver band And you better check out where it came from and the origin of where came from and why you add it check out the calls for the Leather that you weird because they made it came from another country to to ban and not buy diamonds right because your righteous !!”

Letitia Wright suffered minor injuries while shooting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever overnight in Boston.

“Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon,” a spokesperson for Marvel said Wedesday as per Deadline.

The injury was minor and will not impact shooting. Letitia Wright has already been released from the hospital and will resume working.

Although they were in Boston, the primary shoot has been happening in Atlanta since June.

Wright is reprising her role as Shuri along with Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba and Angela Bassett in the sequel. Ryan Coogler is returning as director.

The film has a July 8, 2022 release date.

LeVar Burton previously expressed his interest in stepping up as the host of Jeopardy! after the longtime host, Alex Trebek, passed away from pancreatic cancer.

More than 272,000 people have signed a Change.org petition with hopes to see Burton host the beloved game show.

“Between hosting 21 seasons of the educational Reading Rainbow, playing the brainiac engineer Geordi La Forge on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and filling the role of Kunta Kinte in the ever-important mini-series Roots, LeVar Burton has inspired and shaped the minds of several generations of trivia-loving nerds,” the petition reads. 

“This petition is to show Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. and producers Mike Richards and Harry Friedman just how much love the public has for Burton,” it continues, “and how much we’d all love to see him as the next host of Jeopardy!” 

However, this wasn’t enough to sway studio executives. TMZ reports that Sony Studios didn’t think he was the “right fit” and are considering him for other roles.

The petition came after Burton garnered positive reviews as a guest host. But Mike Richards ultimately gave himself the role and stepped down after he was blasted for the process and a previous discrimination lawsuit.

Following the controversy, a 2018 interview of Trebek surfaced online where he suggested CNN legal analyst Laura Coates as a potential replacement host.

Serena Williams pulled out of the last Grand Slam tournament of the year citing a hamstring injury.

“After careful consideration and following the advice of my doctors and medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the US Open to allow my body to heal completely from a torn hamstring,” Williams announced on Instagram.

Williams’ coach, Patrick Mouratoglou wrote in his own post, “It is heartbreaking, but this is the only possible decision.”

Serena Williams recently recovered from an injury to her right leg at her first-round match at Wimbledon in June.

But this isn’t the end for the 6-time U.S. Open champion who concluded her announcement with “I’ll see you soon.”

August 25th, 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of Aaliyah’s tragic plane crash. The singer’s mother, Diane Haughton said that she was “forced to make a drastic change at Ferncliff Cemetery and Mausoleum.”

“Dear Special Ones, First and foremost I want to thank my dear “Special Ones”(The Fans) that have been with us for years and supported every endeavor that came our way without hesitation. However, due to the behavior of an individual that has been to Aaliyah’s resting place in order to promote a book, I have been forced to make a drastic change at Ferncliff Cemetery and Mausoleum,” she wrote in a lengthy post on Instagram.

Ms. Haughton added, “This person interrupted all my thoughts and ideas to make August 25, 2021, a day of remembrance and love for my daughter. Please accept my sincere apologies for this and know I love you and always will. With Aaliyah and Her Comrades in out hearts.” 

Kathy Iandoli released Baby Girl: Better Known as Aaliyah, which explores her alleged abusive relationship with R. Kelly and her life leading up to her final moments.

Kathy responded, “I did not promote my book outside of Aaliyah’s gravesite. That is offensive to even suggest. I have been told that fans have had my book there with them. Please no longer bring my book to Ferncliff. Apologies that fans can not visit Aaliyah’s resting place.”

Aaliyah’s estate also slammed the release of her sophomore album, One In a Million on streaming platforms without their involvement. “We have always been confused as to why there is such a tenacity in causing more pain alongside what we already have to cope with for the rest of our lives,” the lengthy Instagram caption read.

The statement continued, “This unscrupulous endeavor to release Aaliyah’s music without any transparency or full accounting to the estate compels our hearts to express a word – forgiveness. Although we will continue to defend ourselves and her legacy lawfully and justly, we want to preempt the inevitable attacks on our character by all the individuals who have emerged from the shadows to leech off of Aaliyah’s life’s work.”

50 Cent revealed that there was a part in the introduction of Power Book III: Raising Kanan that was inspired by his real life.

“I got bumped around a lot in the park but I was more afraid of my mom than the people I got bumped around [by] because I could not escape her,” he told Page Six. “She being a single mom at that point — she was everything,” he said.

Fifty added, “[There’s a scene] from the first episode where [titular character] Kanan gets beat up and he goes back in the house and his mother puts the toys in the socks,” 50 said to the website. “That really happened; that was from my life.”

The mogul continued speaking more on the way his mother comforted him when he was under emotional distress. “[S]he was my mom and my dad and she was tough so I didn’t know when it was OK to be emotional and when it wasn’t. She would look at me on the floor [when he was distressed] and say, ‘Get up — what you over there crying for acting like a little girl [for].’

50 Cent said, “She would get mad at you and you say, ‘Oh shit — it’s not OK to be hurt this time.’ OK, so let me get up. So she determined when she should be soft and when she should be firm.”

Kifano “Shotti” Jordan made an appearance on Akademiks’ Off The Record podcast and spoke about his relationship with the polarizing rapper almost two years after he cooperated with authorities and testified against the Nine Trey Bloods gang.

Shotti addressed the allegations that he stole millions of dollars from Tekashi.

“There are people that handle money, and you know this,” he explained. “He had his business manager, I had my accountant, and my girl from booking; they all handled the funds. The point is, I’m a millionaire and he was mad. He’s not the only artist I worked with. I came in jail a millionaire, I’m going to go home a millionaire, probably with more money I came in with. It’s just that simple. There was never any need for me to steal anything from him. If I took money, I would’ve said ‘yeah, I took the money.”

Shotti was also asked if he would ever forgive 6ix9ine. “He’s forgiven,” he said at the 13:45 mark. “He’s got to forgive himself at the end of the day. He know he don’t like how he’s living, man. He don’t like that. He doesn’t like hiding, and he’s hiding. He don’t got no money to pay security. That money ran out, man. It’s over for him. That’s just that.”

Before his arrest on racketeering and firearm charges in November 2018, Tekashi 6ix9ine infamously appeared on The Breakfast Club and claimed that he was offered $2.5 million for a tour but was only given $300,000 and his former manager pocketed the rest.

Tekashi dodged a nearly 50-year sentence after testifying against his other co-defendants, including Shotti who was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Yung Bleu alleges that he was a victim of racial profiling this week in Georgia.

The Alabama rapper uploaded a video on Instagram explaining that he was trying to purchase a trailer for his upcoming Moon Boy Tour when the owner of the trailer company called the authorities.

“These Gainesville, Ga police officer are racially profiling us!” he wrote. “They approached me and my team for absolutely nothing trying to buy a trailer for my tour at (Absolute Trailers) the owner was a old white guy who called the police talking about they suspect fraud! I was just trying to buy a trailer!”

The “You’re Mine Still” crooner said he was profiled because the owner dealt with a fraud incident the prior week.

The Shade Room reports that Bleu was waiting outside of the trailer store for 10 minutes before the cops showed up. They let him go but then he encountered another officer on the highway.

“They trap and get get behind me! say my tag is obstructed but she clearly had her lights on way before she saw the back of my car! 5 cars have pulled up on us since then! Saying we do fraud and all type of lies!” he wrote in his Instagram caption.

Yung Bleu was later arrested for an expired license and cited for a party in April. He commented under TSR’s post, “They made that tag shit up to stop me u pulled me over before u even got behind me dumb and u smiling cuz u no u racist.”

Spike Lee is set to release his upcoming HBO documentary series, New York Epicenters: 9/11-2021½.

The Do The Right Thing director admitted that he doesn’t believe “official explanations” about the terrorist attacks that devastated New York City 20 years ago.

The project features Mayor Bill de Blasio, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Chuck Schumer, front-line workers, and conspiracy theorists who believe that jet fuel can’t melt metal beams.

“I mean, I got questions — and I hope that maybe the legacy of this documentary is that Congress holds a hearing, a congressional hearing about 9/11,” Lee said while speaking to the New York Times.

The revolutionary filmmaker was called out for featuring members of the conspiracy group Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth in his series, who believe that the government was involved.

“The amount of heat that it takes to make steel melt, that temperature’s not reached,” Lee said. “And then the juxtaposition of the way Building 7 fell to the ground — when you put it next to other building collapses that were demolitions, it’s like you’re looking at the same thing.”

He continued, “But people going to make up their own mind. My approach is put the information in the movie and let people decide for themselves. I respect the intelligence of the audience.”

Spike Lee addressed why encourages the public to question 9/11 but not COVID conspiracies or 2020 voter fraud.

“People are going to think what they think, regardless. I’m not dancing around your question. People are going to think what they think,” he said. “People have called me a racist for ‘Do the Right Thing.’ People said in ‘Mo’ Better Blues’ I was anti-Semitic. ‘She’s Gotta Have It,’ that was misogynist. People are going to just think what they think. And you know what? I’m still here, going on four decades of filmmaking.”

Tory Lanez is not allowed to attend any event Megan Thee Stallion is going to be at, as per a California judge’s order.

This comes after Tory was a guest performer during DaBaby’s Rolling Loud set. The judge ruled that this violated Megan’s restraining order against the Toronto rapper.

On top of the ban, the DAYSTAR rapper’s bail was increased from $190,000 to $250,000.

“You do not want to be doing things like this, sir,” Judge Keith Borjon told him. “You have the means and the wherewithal and a lot of smart people around you to advise you as to how you should be conducting your life so we don’t have to have hearings like this.”

Judge Borjon says if the problem arises again, Tory Lanez will be put in jail.

Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, pled not guilty to shooting Megan. His charges include a felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle.

The series finale of Insecure is set to premiere in October. Issa Rae previously announced that the award-winning comedy-drama was wrapping after the fifth season.

“Very excited to film our fifth and final season! We couldn’t have told a complete story without the tremendous support of our audience and the faith of @HBO. See y’all soon!” she tweeted.

In an interview with Deadline Issa said, “I’m so grateful to be able to play this character, who is a version of me, and in the same way that I want this character to grow, I want to be able to grow too,” she added to Entertainment Tonight. “So I think that’s what comes with it — I’ve played her for a long time, and I have so much more that I want to do.”

Insecure explores the life of the main character, Issa Dee, who goes through these phases with friendships & relationships while touching on a lot of uncomfortable everyday experiences like social and racial issues that relate to the Black experience. 

Season 4 ended with Issa having to decide what is best for her. She reconnects with her ex Lawrence who is played by Jay Ellis, and just as they seemed to be in a good place he tells her that his ex-girlfriend Candola, who is played by Christina Elmore, is pregnant.

On the site, K-Dot gave an update on his next album. “As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years,” he wrote. “The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling.”

Kung Fun Kenny started the note sharing how he spends most of his days and revealed that he goes months without a phone. “I spend most of my days with fleeting thoughts. Writing. Listening. And collecting old Beach cruisers. The morning rides keep me on a hill of silence. I go months without a phone. Tia Mowry confirms in a 15-second TikTok video that she will not be returning on the reboot of The Game. 

Mowry played Melanie Barnett aka Med-School in the 2006 drama series which lasted until 2015. 

Paramount recently announced a 10-episode reboot but the veteran actress will not be apart of it despite being a fan-favorite. Wendy Raquel Robinson who played Tasha Mack, and Hosea Chanchez, who played Malik Wright, will be returning. 

Elsewhere in the TikTok video, Tia shut down speculations of a Sister, Sister reboot.  

The sitcom ran from 1994-1999 and starred Tia and her sister, Tamera Mowry who were adopted and separated at birth but met at a mall. 

The video got 1.1 million likes and over 11,000 comments expressing disappointment, but you’ll still get to see more of Tia Mowry.

Multiple sources told Page Six that the 24-year-old is pregnant again.

Caitlyn Jenner seemingly spilled the tea on Thursday by announcing that she’s going to be a grandma again, but didn’t state who was with child.

There aren’t any details about the baby’s gender or due date but the outlet reports that the entire family is “thrilled.”

The beauty mogul spoke about having another baby in an interview with Harpers Bazaar last year. “My friends all pressure me about it … They love Stormi. I definitely feel pressure to give her a sibling, but there’s no plan.”

Kylie also said she wanted “seven kids down the line, but not right now” during an appearance on her best friend’s #DoYourPart Instagram live series.

“Pregnancy is just not a joke; it’s a serious thing and it’s hard,” she added. “I’m not ready for that just yet.”

Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott have been in an on-and-off again relationship since 2017 and share a 3-year-old, Stormi.

Soulja Boy is a rapper of many firsts, but according to Atari, owning a video game company isn’t one of them.

Soulja hopped on Instagram live and announced that he owned the company after they reached out to him following the success of SouljaGame, and he plans to sell it for $140 million.

Fans began speculating that there was a Destiny’s Child reunion because the header and bio on the group’s Twitter and Facebook pages were updated.

Additionally, Beyonce revealed that she was working on new music in a recent interview.

“With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again. I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible. I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. Yes, the music is coming!” she told Harpers Bazaar.

It’s unclear if Bey is working on solo music of music with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, but the remark was enough to fuel the rumor.

However, Beyonce’s father and Destiny’s Child manager, Matthew Knowles told TMZ there are “zero plans for the iconic group to reunite, make an album, tour or do anything of the sort.”

The reason for the social media update is just a routine revamp by the label.

After an ugly fallout with Savage, Azriel has been cooperating with the Feds to take Kelly down.

The 22-year-old previously admitted that she was “brainwashed” and “manipulated” in an interview with The Sun.

“I definitely do believe that I was very naive and very brainwashed and manipulated by him,” Clary said. “And as much as I hate to say it I’m woman enough and I’m grown enough to admit that yes, I was brainwashed and yes, I was manipulated. And yes, this man did have me wrapped around his finger. If he would have told me to jump, I would have said, ‘how high?'” 

She met R. Kelly at one of his concerts while she was still in High School and moved into his home, where she lived for five years.

Now Azriel Clary preparing to testify against him in court next week and her father told TMZ he’s going to stick beside her.
