Okay, so Tucker began by laughing off his frustration over the mix-up. He said: “Let me tell you why I’m pissed off about that slap with Will Smith and Chris Rock. They mixed me up in it. You know? Because we’re Chris’, they thought I got slapped. People were calling my mom’s phone every night asking, ‘Is Chris okay? I heard he got the sh”t slapped out of him.’ ‘Chris is right here rewinding the tape so I can see the slap. Now stop starting rumors.’”

Get this, then the “Jackie Brown” star joked about how huge the incident was and discussed around the world. He mocked languages spoken in Tokyo, Puerto Rico, and Africa. Listen, it was all in fun and he was equally disrespectful.

According to IndieWire, as expected, the film topped iTunes’ transaction rankings and Fandango’s revenue charts, boosting its already successful run. 

Get this, the film was released 47 days after its theatrical premiere, and the VOD version of “Ride or Die” includes an exclusive post-credits scene, enticing fans to purchase the digital copy. See that’s smart creative marketing. 

Despite its availability on VOD, the film remains a box office contender, currently within the top 10 and edging closer to the $400 million mark globally. So basically let that movie cook in theaters, because it is not done!

Check out these numbers, as of now, it has grossed $395.3 million worldwide, with $203.5 million from international markets and $191.8 million from North American theaters.

If you’re into HBCU sports then get this. Allen Media Group has finalized an agreement with Fox-owned stations in Los Angeles and Chicago to broadcast its 2024 college football package under the HBCU Go banner. 

That’s just good to hear because there’s a lot of money in college football on TV and they should get a slice.

Let’s get to the deal. As reported in Variety, this partnership with KCOP-TV in Los Angeles and WPWR-TV in Chicago completes the syndication lineup for HBCU Go football, which will feature 26 games from August 31 to November 23. HBCU Go serves as the television partner for sports programs at the nation’s 107 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). With this deal, HBCU Go’s football schedule will be accessible to 95% of U.S. TV households. 

Diving in, HBCU Go has partnered with stations owned by Sinclair, Gray, Tegna, Hearst, Nexstar, and Scripps. 

Additionally, the games will be available on the Armed Forces Network and through Allen Media Group’s TheGrio.com, Local Now, and HBCU Go digital platforms. 

Seems like a big deal, no pun intended. 

Talking about the deal, Byron Allen, founder, chairman and CEO of Allen Media Group stated: “Allen Media Group is proud to be the number-one provider of live Black college sports,” 

He went on to say: “It is important for us to showcase these excellent athletes and amazing HBCUs — not just in their hometowns, but to sports fans worldwide.”

Check this out, the upcoming season marks the third year of Allen Media Group’s initiative to ensure wide national distribution of HBCU football. The featured conferences include the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

In terms of time frame, the season will begin with the HBCU Go Pre Show on August 24. The following week, play-by-play analyst Charlie Neal, color commentator Jon Kelly, and sideline reporter Lawrencia Moten will provide live game coverage. The season’s first game will feature Clark Atlanta University against Fort Valley State University.

Feels good all around, especially in the world of Black media.

The first images just dropped for “The Fire Inside”, the upcoming biopic about boxer Claressa Shields, written by Barry Jenkins and starring Ryan Destiny and Brian Tyree Henry. This film, previously titled “Flint Strong”, marks the directorial debut of Rachel Morrison, the Oscar-nominated cinematographer recognized for her work on “Mudbound”, making her the first woman ever nominated for Best Cinematography. Morrison has also worked on notable films like Ryan Coogler’s “Black Panther” and “Fruitvale Station”. So this all sounds like a big deal. Here’s more …

THE FIRE INSIDE is the inspirational true story of Claressa Shields, arguably the greatest female boxer of all time. Claressa, a high school Junior from Flint, Michigan, aided by her tough-love coach, Jason Crutchfield, pushes past all limitations to become the first American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in boxing. But even at the pinnacle of success, Claressa has to reckon with the fact that not all dreams are created equal, and the real fight has only just begun.

Get this, Claressa Shields herself is involved in the project as an executive producer. The film is set to premiere in September at the Toronto International Film Festival and will hit theaters this Christmas.

“The Fire Inside” has been in development for several years, with Jenkins attached to the project since the awards campaign for “Moonlight”, before its Oscar wins. The biopic draws from the 2015 documentary “T-Rex”, which chronicles Shields’ journey. Directed by Drea Cooper and Zackary Canepari, “T-Rex” was a tri-continental effort (North America, Europe, and Asia) that began production in 2012 and successfully raised $64,000 through crowdfunding, supplemented by major funding from Independent Lens.

Universal initially acquired the rights to Shields’ life story and the documentary in 2016 before the project moved to Amazon MGM.

Kicking things off out the gate, the new label’s inaugural project is for the soundtrack for the upcoming short film “Dullsville and the Doodleverse.” Listen, goldendoodles, bernadoodles and even cavapoos, are all the rage these days, so they got something right with that name. Or maybe they mean when you’re doodling on a sketch board. Either way, pretty cool. 

Get this to celebrate its high profile launch, Doodles Records will release a three-song EP for “Dullsville and the Doodleverse.” And they ain’t playing, as reported in Variety, the EP features tracks from notable artists: Coi Leray and Pharrell’s “Not in the Store” is set to drop in early August, Lil Wayne, Lil Yachty, and Kyle Richh’s “Can’t Hold Me Down” will follow in late August, and Swae Lee, Lil Yachty, and Pharrell’s “Doodleverse (Draw Me Closer)” is slated for release in September. Ryan Leslie paid tribute to Cassie Ventura during his Tiny Desk performance, which was released on Friday, July 26. 

During his set on the NPR showcase, Leslie honored Cassie by performing their 2006 single “Long Way 2 Go” followed by “Addiction” a hit song that features Cassie on the hook.

Let’s take ya’ll back … Leslie and Cassie’s professional relationship began in 2006 with the release of her debut single, “Me & U,” which Ryan wrote and produced along with most of her debut album. 

If you recall, Leslie released his self-titled debut album in 2009, solidifying his career with a series of chart-topping hits, innovative ventures in tech, and collaborations with top artists. His discography includes four albums, notably his acclaimed sophomore album, *Transition*.

What’s crazy is over the years, Leslie openly discussed Cassie leaving him for Diddy. There’s context to that assertion and it may not be that cut and dry but that’s what Leslie as alluded to. 

Thankfully for Cassie’s sake, she finally left Diddy and ended their relationship in 2018 after ten years. 

As you may know, in 2023, Cassie filed a lawsuit against Diddy, accusing him of sexual assault, sex trafficking, rape, and physical abuse, which was later settled.

Get this, following the lawsuit settlement, Leslie shared plans to collaborate with Cassie again and possibly plan a tour. Speaking to TMZ, he said, “I think that was much further past after our working relationship … The last conversation we had, she’s planning a tour.”

They’re talking to the driver. The driver’s wearing a suit and he has some sort of pin, and they questioned him about the pin. And apparently the pin is like, you work for the president. And they’re not having it because the Olympics are coming. So they pull them out, they question him. They arrested him for impersonating a police officer. They bring me in. They refuse to speak English, but they still leave me with the phone. I’m just like, “Yo, bro, I’m just trying to get to my family.”

Zane Lowe: I got my pastries.

Action Bronson: I didn’t get the pastries yet. So three hours. My man has to make the phone call. Somehow I text him, he calls them. He’s like, “Yo,” he calls the precinct. “He has the key to the city in Lyon, the mayor. This is going to cause a scandal, blah, blah, blah.” Somehow they fucking let me out. Three hours later I got the pastries, but my family had already left, so I was very angry. But there was no consolation except the pastry. I was just fucking pissed. I’m just saying, that’s how I started the tour.

Streamers are breaking records now? Guess so and Kai Cenat is doing it again after recently teasing on the Twitch chat to debut an unreleased track by Drake and Lil Yachty. That’s kind of a big deal. 

Get this, the song is rumored to be titled “Super Soak,” and although Cenat didn’t confirm the name, he did play the entire track, which runs for about four minutes. 

The song features a sample from Mr. HotSpot’s “Goodness Gracious.” That original song is a vibe btw. 

Drake leads the hook with the bars:

Following Drake’s hook, Lil Yachty, also known as Boat, takes over for the final two verses and does his Yachty thing which doesn’t disappoint.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is not immune to crypto scams. The “In the Club” rapper turned media mogul, revealed he was the victim of a cryptocurrency scam that netted hackers millions of dollars. 

Jackson shared on Instagram that his Twitter account and website, Thisis50.com, were hacked to promote a fraudulent cryptocurrency, resulting in a $3 million gain for the scammers within 30 minutes.

“My Twitter & Thisis 50.com was hacked,” 50 Cent wrote. “I have no association with this Crypto. Twitter worked quickly to lock my account back down. Whoever did this made $3,000,000 in 30 minutes.”

Get this: the hackers used a tactic known as a “pump-and-dump” scheme, where they flooded the accounts with promotional messages to inflate the cryptocurrency’s value artificially. Screenshots in 50 Cent’s post showed the $GUNIT crypto skyrocketing from under $1 million in market value.

This incident highlights social media platforms’ vulnerability to security breaches and the ease with which they can be exploited for financial scams. The rise of celebrity meme coins, which often depend on celebrity endorsements to boost their prices, has exacerbated the problem, making them attractive targets for such schemes.

Stephen A. Smith is blasting Diddy for deleting his apology video to Cassie. On his own podcast, Stephen A. said the video was the one thing he should have kept.

“If you had a million photos, if you had a million videos, and you decided to delete 999,999, that’s the one you should’ve kept up, if you’re sincere,” he said. “And I know, that you’ve been taking a lot of hits, and there’s been shrapnels of criticism all over the place aimed in your direction.

“Although one could argue, the ex that you hit had to deal with a hell of a lot more than you had to deal with in terms of the criticism.”

Amid ongoing lawsuits and accusations, Sean “Diddy” Combs has deleted all posts from his Instagram, including his apology to Cassie Ventura. This purge occurred during the week of June 16 without any prior statement or explanation. However, Diddy’s posts on X/Twitter, including his December 2023 declaration that “Enough is enough,” remain untouched. The Instagram wipe happened shortly after Diddy was accused of assaulting Cassie over her alleged relationship with Kid Cudi.

In a VladTV interview, Diddy’s former bodyguard, Roger Bonds, recounted an incident where Diddy found messages between Cassie and Cudi, leading to a confrontation. When Cudi wasn’t home, Diddy allegedly assaulted an employee, Capricorn, whom he believed knew about the relationship. “He put hands on Capricorn because of that situation. Capricorn ended up leaving and suing him for it. He paid Capricorn $450,000 to keep her mouth shut,” Bonds explained.

In May, CNN released 2016 footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie at a hotel. Despite Diddy’s prior denials, the video showed him slamming Cassie to the ground and throwing household items at her. Following the video’s release, Diddy apologized: “I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace.”

Anyway, that “apology” has gone off to Instagram oblivion, and it looks like the storm can’t stop and most certainly won’t stop.

Kai Cenat is set to up his live-streaming game with a 24-hour stream backstage at Travis Scott’s upcoming concert in London. Known for his engaging, hilarious streams and viral moments, Cenat will join Scott at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 11, part of Scott’s Circus Maximus tour. Who knows what’s in store for the “chat” but fans of the streamer and Houston rapper are here for it. 

The collab was sparked during one of Cenat’s recent livestreams when Scott called in with the idea: “I got a sold out stadium show. Let’s do 24 hours in London.” Scott continued, “We’ll do it backstage. We’ll go crazy.”

Get this: Scott played a crucial role in Cenat’s success with streaming. After Cenat faced a Twitch ban for guideline violations last year, Scott intervened to help him get reinstated, although the specifics of his assistance remain unclear. Since then, Cenat’s career has thrived.

ICYMI, recently, Cenat made headlines with a sleepover stream featuring Kevin Hart and Druski, following a solo stream with Hart. The Drake, Kendrick drama continues through big tech, music labels, lawsuits, and artificial intelligence. A group of major record labels, represented by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), is suing two AI startups, Suno and Uncharted Labs (developer of Udio), for allegedly using copyrighted music without permission to train their AI systems.

The RIAA, acting for labels such as Sony Music Entertainment, UMG Recordings, and Warner Records, has filed copyright infringement lawsuits against Suno and Uncharted Labs. The lawsuits claim that these companies used unlicensed sound recordings to train their AI models.

So what exactly is Udio? Founded by former Google DeepMind researchers, Udio, is known for creating “BBL Drizzy,” an AI-generated song that went viral during a dispute between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Udio aims to make it “easy for anyone to create emotionally resonant music in an instant” and raised $10 million in funding in April. Suno, which enables users to create songs with simple prompts and relies on OpenAI’s ChatGPT for lyrics, raised $125 million last month.

Get this: RIAA CEO Mitch Glazier stated that the lawsuits are “necessary to reinforce the most basic rules of the road for the responsible, ethical, and lawful development of generative AI systems and to bring Suno’s and Udio’s blatant infringement to an end.” He emphasized that while the music community collaborates with responsible developers, unlicensed services exploit artists’ work without consent or compensation.

In April, over 200 artists, including Billie Eilish, Kacey Musgraves, and Jon Bon Jovi, signed an open letter organized by the Artist Rights Alliance urging AI developers to stop using AI to infringe upon and devalue the rights of human artists.

For all you legal eagle junkies, the lawsuit against Udio notes that “if developed with the permission and participation of copyright owners, generative AI tools will be able to assist humans in creating and producing new and innovative music.” However, it warns that irresponsible development without respect for copyright protections could harm artists, labels, and the music industry, reducing the quality of new music and diminishing cultural value.

The lawsuit against Suno claims the platform has over 10 million users generating music files, resulting in about 2 million streams. These files compete with copyrighted recordings without giving credit or compensation to the original artists. 

Udio and Suno have not yet responded to requests for comment from media outlets that reported this story.

ICYMI, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland recently announced a new partnership between their music battle platform, Verzuz, and Elon Musk’s social media app, X, which has sparked backlash. Addressing the critiques, Swizz Beatz emphasized his positive intentions. 

“LIFE BEGINS AT THE END OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE,” read a joint statement on Swizz and Timbaland’s Instagram accounts, featuring a photo of the producers toasting with Musk. “IT’S OFFICIAL, VERZUZ IS BACK AND 100% BLACK OWNED AGAIN… WE WILL ALSO BE BUILDING NEW ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESSES ON THE X PLATFORM.”

And you all know the backlash was evident in the comments, with one highly liked comment stating, “Trying to force Black people back to Twitter with music while you’ve made the site a playground for straight up white supremacists is an insult to our intelligence — basically saying ‘it doesn’t matter how we treat them as long as we give them a hot beat to dance to.’ NO.”

Get this, Swizz Beatz responded to the criticism, noting, “But nobody said anything before we been on that platform since Verzuz started.” He further addressed concerns on X, saying, “You will see my intentions as always. We must change what we don’t like, not complain about it. We go hard since the 90s. People will soon see the plan. I understand that people have questions, and they will also understand I’m not a silly person.” He also pointed out the irony of critics using X to voice their complaints, adding, “But you’re on X [laughing emoji].”

It faced a hiatus in 2022 due to a legal dispute with Triller, which had acquired the platform in 2021. The lawsuit was settled the same year, with Swizz and Timbaland hinting at Verzuz’s return in 2023.

Spotify has introduced a new subscription plan, Basic, priced at $10.99 per month. It offers a $1 discount for users who don’t need audiobook access. Take that, inflation! 

Check this out: this single-user plan provides ad-free access to millions of songs and podcast episodes but excludes the audiobook feature available in the regular Premium Individual plan, which costs $11.99 per month.

Spotify explained this one dollar drop in price, stating, “Enjoy the music streaming benefits of your Premium plan without the monthly audiobook listening time,” when announcing the Basic tier. In contrast, the higher-priced premium plans include 15 monthly audiobook listening hours from a catalog of over 250,000 titles.

Get this: The launch of the basic plan follows recent price increases for most of Spotify’s existing plans. The Individual plan rose by $1 to $11.99 per month, the Family plan went up by $3 to $19.99, and the Premium Duo plan increased by $2 to $16.99 per month.

Oh, but wait. Additionally, Spotify offers an audiobooks-only plan for $9.99 per month, which provides 15 hours of audiobook listening time.

The new Audiobooks Access tier, introduced on March 1, allows Spotify to pay lower music-licensing rates for bundled plans. This follows a 2022 settlement between the National Music Publishers Association (NMPA) and streaming services, which includes a carveout for bundles like Amazon Prime and Apple Music + Apple News.

Don’t get too excited. Last week, the NMPA filed a complaint with the FTC against Spotify, arguing that these music-and-audiobook bundles will reduce mechanical royalty payments to songwriters and artists by $150 million annually. Spotify acknowledges that the bundles allow for lower royalty rates but maintains that overall earnings for creators will continue to rise.

The new school year is just underway and college students across the country are already flexing their flirting skills. In fact, Tinder sees the highest influx of new 18-year-old members during freshman orientations. To encourage this new cohort of users to put themselves out there and make new on-campus connections, Tinder is partnering with “Tap In” rapper Saweetie to launch Swipe Off. The nationwide challenge will award the college or university with the most Swipe activity, proving it’s at the forefront of crush culture, a free concert headlined by Saweetie, along with a surprise special guest.

Starting today, the Swipe Off challenge is open to select colleges and universities enrolled in Tinder U, an in-app feature that lets collegiate users easily connect with others at their school. The school that sends the most Likes (…or Nopes) on Tinder through October 6th will win a free concert for its campus.

Can You Dig It? A Hip Hop Origin Story has released the official trailer and cover art for the new Audible Original with hip-hop legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Chuck D. The 5-part Audible series, debuting August 10 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, explores a rarely told story that led to the birth of a global artistic movement. Offering an exclusive sneak preview, the trailer sets the stage for an extraordinary journey, telling the story behind the birth of hip-hop in the Bronx during the early 1970s.

Can You Dig It? explores the events surrounding the murder of Cornell “Black Benjie” Benjamin, a respected peacekeeper and member of the Ghetto Brothers gang in the Bronx. This series dives deep into the impact of his death and the subsequent Hoe Avenue peace meeting, where hundreds of gang members gathered to choose peace over violence. The outcome of this historic meeting laid the foundation for the birth of hip-hop, ultimately leading to Kool Herc’s legendary Back to School party in 1973.

Narrated by Chuck D, Can You Dig It? features interviews with influential figures who were at the forefront of this cultural movement. Their firsthand accounts, including former Black Panther and peacekeeper Joseph Mpa, original hip-hop MC Coke La Rock, and renowned photographers/documentarians Joe Conzo and Henry Chalfant, provide an immersive journey into the political and social landscape of the time.

Also included is insight from the family of Black Benjie, who go on-record, for the first time ever, “If Kool Herc is considered the father of hip-hop, then my uncle was the general; my uncle was the martyr,” says Angelique Lenox, niece of Black Benjie. “He didn’t die in vain, something good came from his death; his life mattered. This is truly my best version of a love letter to my father and my family and I will not stop until his name is a part of the hip-hop story.”

Walt Disney World Resort made a special appearance at the ESSENCE Festival of Culture to announce the opening of applications and nominations for the 2024 Disney Dreamers Academy. 
Gospel singing star Pastor Mike Jr., joined Disney executive Tracey D. Powell and motivational speaker/former dreamer– Princeton Parker during the announcement at the Essence stage in front of thousands of spectators to announce the life-changing program.    

The Disney Dreamers Academy is an epic four-day annual event held in March to enlighten and cultivate students at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The program is designed to broaden career and personal development for 100 teens from Black and underrepresented communities across America.

Students looking to achieve their dreams can apply and, for the first time this year, be nominated for the program at www.DisneyDreamersAcademy.com. The application process opens Monday and runs through October. The 100 selected students will receive an all-expense-paid trip along with one parent or guardian to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida to experience a combination of inspiration, education and fun at The Most Magical Place on Earth.

“We’re seeking the next generation of big dreamers to bring to Walt Disney World for the 17th year of this life-changing program,” said Disney Signature Experiences vice president Tracey D. Powell, who is also the program’s executive champion. “Any teen in your life who aspires to achieve their goals should apply. You never know where it could take them!”  

Pastor Mike Jr., dubbed “The New King of Urban Inspiration,” is an 11-time Stellar Award Gospel Artist, best known for his songs “I Got It” and “So Good”.  As one of several celebrity speakers who took part in last year’s Disney Dreamers Academy, he motivated the students through his inspiring storytelling and musical performance.

Students attend in-depth workshops in a variety of disciplines aligned with their dreams. These workshops introduce the Disney Dreamers to diverse career paths within business, entertainment, and sciences, including career opportunities within The Walt Disney Company.

In her role as Disney Dreamers Academy Ambassador, actor and singer Halle Bailey, who plays the lead role as Ariel in the live-action remake of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” was part of many special moments during this year’s event, sharing her own personal struggles and lessons on her path to success. She also personally hosted two aspiring filmmakers from the class at the world premiere of “The Little Mermaid.”

Over the years, Disney Dreamers Academy has inspired more than 1,500 students from across the country. After launching her official OnlyFans account on Friday (Jan. 13), rap star Iggy Azalea has reportedly earned over 307,000 dollars on the subscription-based platform.

“Lol, Y’all just be saying shit to say shit at this point cause that number was pulled outta thin air,” Iggy said in response.

In the announcement, the 32-year-old star shared that her new account supports her upcoming multimedia project in collaboration with the platform, titled “Hotter Than Hell x OnlyFans.” The forthcoming project showcases the “Fancy” hitmaker in mature content only available for paid subscribers. “You better be subscribed & logged on tonight,” she wrote on Twitter on Saturday (Jan. 14). “Something hotter than hell in your inbox at 9pm.”

Azalea and OnlyFans collaboration is a limited-edition one-year run that will conclude on December 23, 2023. Subscribers will receive a variety of content, including illustration, poetry, photography, video for creative yet unapologetically spicy content, and, of course, new music. Azalea credits the new collaboration as inspired by the 90s supermodel era.

Azalea’s latest venture will lead into the release of her forthcoming fourth album, Hotter Than Hell, which drops in late 2023. Already six months in the making, the project will highlight sexuality as well as give a nod to the idea of the centerfold model and is a hyperrealistic version of the blond beauty’s life.

“I’ve been working on ‘Hotter Than Hell’ for six months already and I’m full of excitement and nervous anticipation to begin revealing it to the world, layer by layer,” said Azalea in a press release. “Admittedly, I never knew OnlyFans was a place where I could be creative, so I didn’t expect to be collaborating with them on my biggest project to date.”

Azalea revealed that fans will be very surprised by the upcoming album. “The project is bold and fun — so is this collaboration — I think it’s going to surprise a lot of people,” she says.

Two years since she released an album, the mother of one has been and her music has been a cash cow with touring, licensing, and catalog purchase. She sold her music catalog last November to Domain Capitol Group for an undisclosed eight-figure amount.

Azalea joins the new wave of female rap stars, like Renni Rucci and Bhad Bhabie, launching OnlyFans accounts in the new year. Hip Hop joining and the lucrative income of the platforms has changed others’ prescription on joining as well.

“Once I looked beyond the surface level chatter about what it means to have an OnlyFans,” said Azalea when asked about the decision to join OnlyFans. “I realized it was the perfect platform to launch a multimedia concept on,” she said. “I feel excited about not having to worry about the overwhelming and creatively limiting censorship artists have to navigate when sharing work on other digital platforms.”

Moises “B-boy Moy” Rivas, is a legend in the world of breakdancing. He most recently helped to bring breakdancing to the 2024 Olympics as a competing sport. Before breakdancing hits the world stage, B-boy Moy has partnered with Monster Energy on the Dream Circles series to bring awareness to the art form. 

Monster Energy’s Dream Circles four-part series premiered on October 26. Their third episode is set to release tomorrow, November 23, where we meet fellow Monster sponsored athlete and breaker extraordinaire, Miguel “Gravity” Rosario.

Rosario, respectively known as “Gravity” in the breakdancing world, started as an all-around gymnast at a young age. At sixteen he had already won state championships, and regional championships and taken home over twelve first-place medals. The Long Island City native admits that he started to get bored with winning and being inspired by the 2004 dance film You Got Served, he began to explore the world of breaking.

A complete full-circle moment, Gravity is now making his way to the 2024 Olympics as one of the most influential breakers in the world. 

“That was the foundation to my breaking. Because of that discipline, I was able to bring that into breaking and I elevated faster than anybody can imagine…what took people ten years to accomplish, I was doing in three. If it wasn’t for gymnastics, I would not have been able to set the bar” says Gravity. 

“He’s actually the first one I’ve seen do a roundoff back double in a battle, dude is light on his feet and he’s not afraid,” exclaims breakdance legend Ken Swift. 

Miguel is one of twelve breakers sponsored by Monster Energy. Check out his episode on November 23 showcasing Gravity’s transition from a championship gymnast to a world-renowned breaker set to take the Olympics in 2024.

Media mogul Necole Kane, creator and founder of popular media outlet xoNecole, announced her exit from the media company on Wednesday (Oct. 19) to transition into the wellness industry with her newly founded plant-based relief brand, My Happy Flo.

The Kane-founded My Happy Flo is a plant-based period relief supplement that works to balance hormones and alleviate heavy bleeding, intense cramping, and other PMS symptoms for a happier, healthier period.

While Kane will be shifting focus from media to wellness, she feels her following will follow with majority of her audience women and the content on xoNecole caters to women’s interest. When asked about the transition, Kane said the following:

“I’m still serving the same audience that I have for years but in a new way. Our community has a unique set of needs that include Vitamin D3 and Iron deficiency but are often underserved and overlooked in the vitamin and supplement space. I am passionate about helping women of color who are struggling with heavy periods and fibroid symptoms and missing out on life because of it. The statistics regarding black women and fibroids are alarming and we wanted to help do something about this silent epidemic.”

My Happy Flo is personal for Kane as she knows all too well the harsh reality of hormone imbalance after her mom passed from estrogen-induced breast cancer at the age of 41. She’s also discovered various studies which reveal that 80% of African American women will be diagnosed with fibroids by the age of 50. Black women are also 4 times more likely to get a hysterectomy than other races and they are also 2 to 3 times more likely to suffer from period trauma. Due to  the lack of education around what a normal period looks like, it can take women up to 10 years to see a doctor for her symptoms or  get a proper diagnosis.

And with My Happy Flo, Kane will be championing holistic remedies for  women. “At My Happy Flo, we believe it is important to focus heavily on content around hormone health, endocrine disrupting chemicals found in the hair and beauty products specifically marketed towards African-American women, and signs and symptoms of estrogen dominance – a leading cause of heavy, painful periods,” she said in the press release. “There has also been a huge educational gap when it comes to the menstrual cycle being considered a fifth vital sign and serves as a monthly report card for our overall health. We weren’t taught that a heavy, painful period is not normal and can be the first sign of hormonal imbalances. When left unaddressed and undiagnosed, these imbalances can lead to fibroid development and breast cancer tumors, as well as other conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, and infertility.”

Kane would share that other products that found solutions would only be more harmful. “In the past, when we’ve been offered a solution, it often caused more harm than good,” she continued. “Hormonal contraceptives, painkillers, and hysterectomies shouldn’t be our only option for  period pain relief and with My Happy Flo, it doesn’t have to be.” 

In its first year of business, My Happy Flo has won over $50,000 in grants and has grown organically without any digital ad spend. The daily vitamin has also helped thousands of women find relief from period pain and hormone imbalance which previously caused them to miss out on professional and personal opportunities and provided more holistic options when facing fibroids and other reproductive health conditions.

Child sex abuse allegations dismissed and behind him, popular comedian Aries Spears returns to stand-up comedy with the release of a two-and-half-hour stand-up set last Saturday (Oct.8) to his 88,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel.

Recorded at The Chicago Improv, the looped full show sees the comedian spend the entire set roasting the crowd. Spears released a live show prior to this in September 2021 at the same venue on YouTube. Watch the full show above.

Spears’s stand-up marks the first new footage since the comedic actor and fellow actress Tiffany Haddish’s involvement in a lawsuit of sexually harassing and abusing an anonymous woman and her brother as children filed last August. The case was dismissed in September in the  U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, but not before Haddish would claim she lost all of her upcoming acting jobs due to the lawsuit.

Spears’s stand-up video joins a new trend of comics taking their full show content to their respective channels on YouTube, with Ali Siddiq releasing his stand-up special, The Domino Effect, on his YouTube channel last May. Merely days following the release of his full show at the Improv, Spears’s looped set has already amassed over 50,000 streams on YouTube. Upon the video’s release, he announced an upcoming nationwide comedy tour.

Directed by Grammy-winning music visual vet Calmatic, House Party was written by Jamal Olori and Stephen Glover and produced by LeBron James and Maverick Carter of The SpringHill Company.

The Atlanta lyricist flows over the bass heavy track, “Flex like I’m supposed. Hermes Orange in the Rolls. Wrist in the bowl, other wrist, it was froze. Dropped a four and brought back some extra Os.”

The 1990’s cult classic comedy, House Party is getting a remake. The rebooted film stars Tosin Cole as Damon, and Jacob Latimore as Kevin, who appear as best friends and club promoters mirroring the nostalgia of Kid ‘n Play with a new spin. The teens get hired to clean basketball star, LeBron James’ mansion and while he’s away they decide to throw a party that leads to hijinks and chaos.

Karen Obilom, Rotimi, D.C. Young Fly, and Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi) also star in the Warner Brothers, New Line Cinema release.

The film, directed by Calmatic, Grammy-winning music video director, has also been commissioned for the White Men Can’t Jump remake starring Jack Harlow.

According to Deadline, House Party marks the feature directorial debut of Calmatic. Written by Jamal Olori and Stephen Glover. Produced by LeBron James and Maverick Carter of The SpringHill Company. Reportedly several cameo appearances from Lena Waithe, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, and more are slated.

Actress Tiffany Haddish says she lost all her jobs after a recent lawsuit was filed against her.  Along with Aries Spears, the two comedians were accused of grooming and coercing two siblings “Jane” and “John Doe”, aged 7 and 14 at the time, to take part in sexually explicit skits on two separate occasions.

On Wednesday Haddish told reporters the lawsuit cost her everything, including all her jobs, but that she feels relieved now that the whole thing is behind her. 

 According to reports, Haddish worked out a settlement agreement, privately with the two accusers and in return, the “Jane Doe” has now dismissed the lawsuit entirely.

The Girls Trip actress said she “deeply regrets” agreeing to act in the comedy sketch six years ago alongside comedian Aries Spears.

The original cast from Beverly Hills Cop is returning to join Eddie Murphy in the upcoming Netflix sequel.  Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, and Paul Reiser are all joining Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley.  

According to Variety, Netflix picked up the rights in 2019 to release the next ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ movie, which is currently in production. The film will be the fourth installment in the action-comedy franchise with the third movie being released in 1994.

Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps, but it’ll most likely follow Murphy’s character “Axel Foley” as he returns to 90210 to break open a new case. Taylour Paige and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have reportedly been cast in the film as well.

Murphy is producing the movie with Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman for Jerry Bruckheimer Films.
