Whelp, we didn’t have that on our football picks bingo card. But Kirk Cousins apparently did after he led the Atlanta Falcons to a stunning 22-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Cousins delivered a quick 70-yard touchdown drive in just 65 seconds.

Get this, the Falcons trailing by six points and only 1:39 remaining in the game, when Cousins orchestrated a masterful drive that culminated in a 7-yard touchdown pass to Drake London. This score put the Falcons ahead and secured their first win of the season at Lincoln Financial Field.

Eagles star QB, Jalen Hurts had a solid performance for the Eagles, completing 22 of 28 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also contributed significantly on the ground, rushing for 85 yards and another touchdown on 13 carries. Saquon Barkley added 95 yards on 22 carries, while DeVonta Smith put up 76 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven receptions. The Eagles had an opportunity to run out the clock on their final drive but had to settle for a field goal inside the two-minute warning. This gave them a six-point lead, leaving the door open for Cousins and the Falcons to rally.

This marks the first win for the Falcons after signing Cousins in the offseason. He went 20-of-29 for 241 yards and two touchdowns. Bijan Robinson provided a boost on the ground with 97 yards on 14 carries, and Darnell Mooney added 88 yards and a touchdown on three catches.

As the New York Mets gear up for their final homestand of the 2024 regular season, the team has announced the installation of a commemorative purple seat to honor beloved McDonald’s character, Grimace. This tribute celebrates Grimace’s unique connection to die-hard Mets fans, which began after his memorable first pitch on June 12.

“It’s been great to see how our fanbase created the Grimace phenomenon following his first pitch in June and in the months since,” said Mets SVP of Partnerships Brenden Mallette. “As we explored how to further capture the magic of this moment and celebrate our new celebrity fan, installing a commemorative seat ahead of fan appreciation weekend felt like the perfect way to give something back to the fans in a fun and unique way. The commemorative purple seat, located in section 302, row 6, seat 12, will be available for purchase during all remaining home games this season. It adds a fun and meaningful touch to the Mets’ final homestand, which also features a fan appreciation weekend from September 20-22.

The Mets remain optimistic going into their seven-game homestead against the Phillies and the Nationals after a nail-biting loss against Philadelphia during the same game that Francisco Lindor was taken out due to an ongoing back injury. According to Lindor himself, he might be on the bench for what “could be three to five days” at the most crucial point in the Mets’ season.

Even though the prognosis of the 30-year-old shortstop isn’t deemed “too serious”, Lindor underwent MRI imaging after being taken out of Sunday’s game to determine the damage done to his lower back. Even though the results show no structural damage to his back, Lindor was left out of Monday’s lineup against Washington, with second baseman Jose Iglesias moving over to shortstop and taking Lindor’s leadoff spot in the batting order.

“I still have a little bit of pain, but we had good news,” Lindor said. “Everything seems like it’s good, it could be three to five days, or it could be two to three — depends on how my back reacts.”

He added, “I felt fine, I felt good — it wasn’t like a freak accident where I reinjured it. It just got tight on me. I just felt like I could play through it. And the next thing you know, I didn’t feel comfortable enough to stay on the field. When I can’t stay on the field to do what I love most, which is play defense, that’s when I said something. When I was a little timid on the ground balls.”

Team doctors agree that Lindo doesn’t need an injection in his back, so Lindor is hoping to be back before the end of the regular season.

“Honestly, relief. Really good news,” manager Carlos Mendoza said. “… I think we got the best news. Like [Lindor] said, it could be three to five [days], two to three, who knows? But the hope is that he’ll be a player for us before the year is over. So, I was expecting the worst to be honest.”

Recruited recently from Syracuse AAA-affiliate, Luisangel Acuna will be interchanging with Iglesias at shortstop until Lindor’s return. As Mets’ “ironman”, Lindor playing in all games of the regular season until today(September 16) has positively impacted the Mets’ chances at a Wild Card spot. With a three-game series ahead of New York vs. the Nationals followed by four games against Philly, the Mets’ postseason future will be determined this week at Citi Field.

The great thing about opinions is that you can change them. That’s the case with Byron Scott, former Lakers player, and coach, who just revised his opinion on the Los Angeles Lakers decision to hire JJ Redick as their new head coach.

For your information, Scott initially was critical of the move, expressing doubts about Redick’s lack of professional coaching experience.

While speaking with our friends at TMZ Sports, Scott said, “I got a lot of respect for him because of what he’s done in the league, but when it comes to coaching, people wanted an experienced coach.” His perspective changed after learning about the seasoned coaching staff Redick assembled, including veteran coaches Nate McMillan and Scott Brooks. McMillan has coached teams like the Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks, while Brooks led the Oklahoma City Thunder to the NBA Finals.

Get this, Scott acknowledged the impact of these additions, saying, “You got some guys who have head coaching experience, who’ve been on that bench before, who’ve won championships on that bench.” With this experienced support, Scott feels more confident in Redick’s potential to succeed with the Lakers.

“I’m excited. I think JJ’s going to do well with the staff that he has and the players that he has,” Scott went on to add. The UFC organization is being called everything from insensitive to racist after they aired a broadcast where boxer Terence Crawford was mistaken for famed Compton emcee Kendrick Lamar.

The “Not Like Us” lyricist spit this verse on “Euphoria”, saying, “I’m Terence Crawford, yeah, I’m whooping feet.” Many people laughed at the coincidence of his predictions, but they still launched a campaign accusing the UFC of racism, which is understandable. Crawford and Lamar are in two different forms of entertainment, and no insult to either, but the two personalities do not look alike at all.

UFC has yet to comment on the viral mishap.

Appearing on The Talk, 50 cosigned the selection. “I mean, it was a choice. As a solo artist right now, he’s the guy,” 50 said.

Roger Goodell praised the selection of Kendrick Lamar as the Super Bowl halftime performer.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Goodell revealed he is “feeling great” about taking the spot and he is a fan of the rapper.

Kendrick Lamar will take center stage at the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show at The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, 2025. Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL made the announcement, sparking excitement for the globally anticipated performance.

Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter, founder of Roc Nation, praised Lamar’s influence: “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision… His impact will be felt for years to come.”

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza might really be re-thinking his choice of pitchers over the weekend against the Phillies as Bryce Harper and the Phillies take the last two of the three-game series, severely jeopardizing the Mets’ chances of an NL Wild Card berth.

The Amazins came into Philadelphia on Friday with everything in their favor; they were one game ahead of the Braves in the NL Wild Card race with a 8-2 record in their last 10 games and no one knew about superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor’s impending back injury. Fast forward to Sunday evening and the Mets are a half game behind Atlanta, risking their spot in the Wild Card, which now heavily depends on how the Braves do against the Dodgers on their home turf in Truist Park tonight(September 15).

On Friday, New York embarrassed the Phils, beating them 11-3, headed off by three 3-run HRs from Alvarez, Nimmo and Bader and a solo shot from first baseman Pete Alonso in the top of the ninth to seal the slaughter. Jose Quintana took control of the mound in the Mets’ first outing against Philly, shutting down four batters and only giving up three hits in seven frames. The Phillies got all their runs in one shot from Brandon Marsh, who blasted a three-run shot off Alex Young in the bottom of the ninth.

Maybe it was the superstition of Friday the 13th that moved the Mets up to the third spot in the NL East, just eight games behind the division leading Phils who now lead the MLB in wins(90), but equally as esoteric, Lindor’s back injury had him pulled in the 7th inning, obviously raising questions about the team’s now unstable playoff position. In the second game of the series and the first game that the NL MVP candidate has missed in the past three seasons, the Phillies took the Mets down 6-4, with Bryce Harper banging two homers off Mets right hander Luis Severino in the 4th and 6th innings. Mendoza sent Young back to the mound for New York for only one out and gave up two hits and two runs, even after giving up three runs in one inning . Mets fans had hope on Sunday as Lindor returned to the lineup as the lead off batter, but was swiftly withdrawn from the game in the second inning. The Phillies edged the Mets 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth with a single from J.T Realmuto off Edwin Diaz, who replaced Phil Maton in the last inning.

With the Mets striking out at the plate more than the Phils in all three games, it may not just be pitching thats failing the Mets. The Mets seem to be hinging on Lindor’s uncertain return to the lineup, but the follow through from players like Nimmo and Alonso is needed, but isn’t happening. The Mets will also be missing RHP Paul Blackburn during this crucial point in the season after he was cleared for his hand injury just two weeks ago, but placed back on IL for a spinal fluid leak in his back yesterday(September 14).

Will the Mets maintain their position as the best team in MLB since the All Star break or will the combination of injuries, pitchers and fallen stars cost the Mets their chance at the pennant?

The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, a Low-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, fired catcher Derek Bender for the unspeakable; Bender was tipping batters from the opposing team as to what pitches were coming from the mound, giving them a heads up. For the non-followers of baseball, it’s probably one of the most blatant forms of cheating.

The sixth round draft pick out of Coastal Carolina was playing in a doubleheader last Friday(September 6) against the Lakeland Flying Tigers, a fam team for the Detroit Tigers, when he was reportedly telling several batters what pitches were being thrown by Mussels’ starter Ross Dunn.

Lakeland brought in four runs in the second inning and took a 6-0 shut out to win the Florida State League West division and eliminate Fort Myers from playoff possibility after the Mussels held a six-game lead just three weeks earlier.

The Lakeland coaches informed Fort Myers’ coaches after the game of Bender’s antics and the Flying Tigers gave no indication either. Sources say that he told his teammates that he wanted the season to be over. Bender spent the final two games of the season in the team’s bullpen instead of in the dugout. Ironically, the Mussels won both games.

Bender played 19 games for Fort Myers, hitting .200/.273/.333 with two home runs and eight RBIs. In three seasons at Coastal Carolina, he hit .326/.408/.571 with 32 home runs and 153 RBIs in 144 games.

A catcher and first baseman selected with the 188th pick this year, Bender signed for $297,500, slightly below the $320,800 slot for that selection. He will keep the entirety of his bonus, sources said.

Both Bender and the Twins organization declined to comment.

Football is a dangerous sport. And Las Vegas Raiders coach Antonio Pierce sparked conversations about Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s future after he suffered his third diagnosed concussion in as many seasons.

ICYMI, Tagovailoa exited the Dolphins’ loss to the Buffalo Bills after a hit to the helmet caused a fencing response, a clear sign of a concussion. He was placed into the concussion protocol, marking his third such injury after missing five games in 2022 due to concussions.

Get this, during a news conference, Pierce, who played nine seasons in the NFL, advised Tagovailoa to prioritize his health and consider retirement. “I’ll be honest, I’d tell him to retire. It’s not worth it,” Pierce said. “Scary — you could see right away; the players’ faces on the field… He’s going to live longer than he’s going to play football. Take care of your family.”

What’s interesting is other NFL coaches weighed in on the issue as well. Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Pederson stressed the importance of prioritizing player health, saying, “If it was one of our guys, you have to be very careful and do the right thing for the player… You just have to continue to think about the player and the health and safety of the player.” Pederson, also a former NFL player, suggested that players should carefully consider their careers when facing recurring head injuries.

Then Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel addressed the media, emphasizing that Tagovailoa’s immediate focus should be on his health and family. “You’re talking about his career — his career is his,” McDaniel said. He urged the public to avoid speculation about Tagovailoa’s future, saying it’s not helpful at this time. McDaniel added that Tagovailoa is unlikely to play in the next game but emphasized that decisions about his future would be up to him and his medical team.

What ever the decision we hope Tagovailo prioritizes his health above all else.

However, despite the entire baseball world watching Ohtani on his road to 50/50, Lindor’s only MVP competition still hasn’t broken the .300 mark either. Even Judge, with his phenomenal hitting feats, still ties Oakland’s Brent Rooker with the most Ks in the league(156). Additionally, Judge’s bat has been going cold lately, with no HRs in his last 13 games since the Home Run Derby, which has the Yankees’ record split 13-12 in their last 25 games.

Tyreek Hill and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, are calling for the officers involved in Hill’s arrest before a home game in Miami to be fired.

In case you missed it, Hill was pulled over outside the Miami Dolphins stadium for a moving violation, which escalated to Hill being pressed into the cement and detained. Dolphins lineman Calais Campbell was also detained, and body cam footage showed hostile officers throughout the exchange.

That was horrendous how they treated him. They didn’t treat him like a human being,” Rosenhaus said during an appearance on The Dan LeBetard show. “There’s no place for [those] police officers to be on the force.”

In a statement from Hill’s attorney, Julius B. Collins, to TMZ, the star wide receiver calls for the officer’s badges: “We are of the opinion that the officer’s use of force was excessive, escalating and reckless. We are demanding that the officer be terminated effective immediately.”

The statement added, “While we are in no way accusing the officer of being racist, we are accusing the customs and practice of law enforcement from a historical standpoint of being discriminatory and oppressive to black and minority communities.

“we cannot ignore this fact and remain silent on the issue just because it’s a tough conversation.”

The Orlando Magic announced today a multiyear partnership with Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks. The partnership brings the cheesesteak franchise with humble beginnings to the Sunshine State. Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks will place their first Orlando location inside the Magic’s home, Kia Center.

DeMar DeRozan will suit up for his fourth NBA franchise this upcoming season, arriving with the Sacramento Kings from the Chicago Bulls.

DeRozan was not short of suitors, with the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Miami HEAT all wanting his services. So why the Kings? DeRozan gave details on this week’s episode of Podcast P with Paul George.

“I was just looking for an opportunity to win at a high level wherever that was going to be…[Sacramento] came about, and they were showing interest, like real interest,” DeRozan said. “So when I sat back and looked at it, and analyzed the team. Great players. Great coach. I just always remember the last couple of years of always seeing them light this damn beam and winning and all that.

“Philly definitely was an option. The Lakers were an option always. Clippers were an option. And the Heat was an option too. I’d say those teams, for sure, were real personal, legitimate options that I was considering.”

The Sacramento Kings acquired free agent guard DeMar DeRozan in a three-year, $74 million sign-and-trade deal.

Breaking down the deal, the Kings sent forward Harrison Barnes and an unprotected 2031 pick swap to the San Antonio Spurs. 

Sources indicated that guard Chris Duarte, two second-round draft picks, and cash will also be sent to the Chicago Bulls. So the Bulls aren’t the victors in this deal or this summer, but when are they ever in free agency?

The Kings targeted DeRozan to join forces with All-Star guard De’Aaron Fox, All-Star center Domantas Sabonis, and promising young forward Keegan Murray, aiming to bolster their offensive firepower in the highly competitive Western Conference.

DeRozan, a six-time All-Star who will turn 35 next month, is coming off a solid three-year tenure with the Bulls, during which he made the All-Star team in his first two seasons and averaged 24 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists this past season. He finished second to Stephen Curry in voting for the NBA’s 2024 Clutch Player of the Year Award.

DeRozan traveled to Sacramento on Saturday to meet with team officials and Kings coach Mike Brown, who recently signed an offseason contract extension. Brown has led the franchise to back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2006.

A three-time All-NBA selection, DeRozan was the ninth pick in the 2009 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors and has since played for the Raptors, Spurs, and Bulls over his 15 NBA seasons. He has averaged 21.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in 1,110 NBA games throughout his career.

Even though K Dot took the stage for Super Bowl LVi alongside rap stars such as Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent, many believe that Weezy should’ve been offered the headlining spot for the biggest sports event of the year.

Culture critic DJ Akademiks argued that Kendrick is undoubtedly a great artist, but Super Bowl 61 should be in Lamar’s hometown, and the NFL could’ve waited two years to put him on center stage. Another New Orleans legend, Master P, saluted Kendrick as an artist and questioned why the Hot Boys superstar wasn’t chosen to perform in his hometown.

No one is saying Kendrick doesn’t deserve to make it on the Super Bow halftime stage, but many people on social media echo the same sentiments. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones announced Sunday that the Dallas Cowboys and star quarterback Dak Prescott have agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history. The deal keeps Prescott in a Cowboys uniform through the 2028 season.

The contract includes $231 million in guaranteed money, the most ever in the league, surpassing Deshaun Watson’s $230 million guaranteed deal with the Cleveland Browns. Prescott’s $60 million average annual value is also the highest in NFL history, eclipsing recent $55 million deals signed by Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow, Green Bay’s Jordan Love, and Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence. Prescott’s $80 million signing bonus sets another record, beating Love’s $75 million.

“I know that these numbers are beyond anything that I could have ever imagined,” Jones said.

The landmark deal was finalized just hours before Dallas’ season opener against the Cleveland Browns, following intense negotiations over the weekend, according to ESPN sources.

“There’s a lot of me that thinks [that] I hope Dak is our quarterback for the rest of my time,” Jones said. “And that’s not just limited to the terms of this contract, either. I have a lot of confidence in him. He brings so much to the table. He’s a player that the team follows — that’s big.”

In less than two weeks, the Cowboys secured Prescott as the NFL’s highest-paid quarterback and CeeDee Lamb as the league’s second-highest-paid wide receiver, locking both players in through 2028.

Several Miami Dolphins players, including All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill, were detained by Miami-Dade Police Department officers before Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Hill was pulled over for allegedly speeding on his way to Hard Rock Stadium three hours before kickoff. According to ESPN‘s Jeff Darlington, a “verbal altercation” led to Hill being placed in handcuffs and cited for reckless driving. The incident, captured by fans, quickly went viral on social media. Hill expressed confusion over the escalation, stating he had “no idea” why he was handcuffed and insisted he was not disrespectful or profane. Videos show Hill lying on the ground, handcuffed, surrounded by four officers.

“Right now, I’m still trying to put it all together … I still don’t know what happened,” Hill said. “But I do want to use this platform to say, ‘What if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill?’ Worst-case scenario, you know? … Everybody has bad apples in every situation, but I want to be able to use this platform to figure out a way to flip this and make it a positive on my end and Miami-Dade and do something positive for the community.

“It’s hard. I don’t want to bring race into it, but sometimes it gets kind of iffy when you do. What if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill? Lord knows what those guys would have done. I just wanted to make sure I was doing what my uncle always told me to do whenever you’re in a situation like that — put your hands on the steering wheel and just listen.”

Teammates Calais Campbell and Jonnu Smith stopped to support Hill and help de-escalate the situation, resulting in Campbell’s detainment. Miami-Dade PD Director Stephanie V. Daniels initiated an “immediate review” and later announced that an officer was placed on administrative duties pending the investigation.

Despite the pre-game chaos, the Dolphins rallied to defeat the Jaguars 20-17, scoring 13 unanswered points in the second half.

Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray is the latest NBA superstar to collect a major bag. On Sunday, Murray inked a four-year, $208 million max extension.

According to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, Murray is tied tot he Nuggets for the next five seasons, removing him from next summer’s free agency.

Murray is set to earn $36 million this season, with his salary rising to $46.4 million in 2025-26. He will then make $50.1 million in 2026-27, $53.8 million in 2027-28, and $57.5 million in the final year of his contract, per ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

Several reports have confirmed that Ugandan Olympic athlete Rebecca Cheptegei died Thursday(September 5) at a Kenyan hospital where she was being treated after 80% of her body was burned in an attack by her partner.

Cheptegei was only 33 years old.

A spokesperson at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret City confirmed Cheptegei’s death on Thursday. Menach said the long-distance runner died early in the morning after her organs failed. She had been fully sedated on admission at the hospital.

Cheptegei ran in the women’s marathon at the Paris Olympics almost a month before the attack. She finished in 44th place.

Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Jeremiah ole Kosiom said Monday that Cheptegei’s partner, Dickson Ndiema, bought a can of gasoline, poured it on her and set her ablaze during a disagreement Sunday. Ndiema was also burned and was being treated at the same hospital.

Menach said Ndiema was still in the intensive care unit with burns over 30% of his body but was “improving and stable.”

Cheptegei’s parents said their daughter bought land in Trans Nzoia to be near the county’s many athletic training centers. A report filed by the local chief said the two were heard fighting over the land where her house was built before the attack.

The Uganda Athletics Federation eulogized Cheptegei on X, posting, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our athlete, Rebecca Cheptegei, early this morning who tragically fell victim to domestic violence. As a federation, we condemn such acts and call for justice. May her soul rest In Peace.”

Uganda Olympic Committee President Donald Rukare called the attack “a cowardly and senseless act that has led to the loss of a great athlete.”

The documents revealed plans for a breakup, which Full Scope Agency shut down. The documents were titled “Comprehensive Media Plan For Travis Kelce’s Relations Following Breakup with Taylor Swift.”

The agency called them “entirely false and fabricated.”

“These documents are entirely false and fabricated and were not created, issued or authorized by this agency,” Full Scope said to PEOPLE.

Kelce will open the season at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Thursday (Sept. 5).

According to ESPN, Rondo pleaded guilty to unlawful carrying of a handgun, while charges of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed.

Rondo will be on probation for 180 days and must pay court costs.

The case is connected to a January arrest in which the former NBA point guard was pulled over for reckless driving on I-65 South. A juvenile was in the car at the time.

As the NFL kicks off another monumental season, Gatorade, the world’s leading sports drink, is shaping the future of football with its latest campaign, “You Know We Got ‘IT’.” The campaign, a revival of the brand’s iconic tagline “Is It In You?,” celebrates the evolving landscape of football, highlighting women’s growing impact, the rise of flag football, and a new era of athlete individualism.

“Gatorade was born on the football field, and we’re proud to continue fueling the next generation of trailblazers who are charting an exciting and inclusive future for the sport,” said Anuj Bhasin, Chief Brand Officer at Gatorade. “We want to inspire all athletes to believe that they have ‘IT’.”

To underscore this commitment, Gatorade is expanding its elite roster with new athletes who are redefining the sport. New signings include Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, and Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua. Additionally, world champion flag football quarterback Diana Flores becomes the first flag football athlete to join Gatorade’s roster.

Gatorade is also promoting inclusivity with a new limited-edition Drop, in collaboration with designer Kristin Juszczyk, whose gameday designs have garnered attention online. As part of its Equity in Sports initiative, Gatorade is investing more than $600,000 to provide greater access to sports for young athletes, focusing on female athletes in flag football. This includes donations from sales at Dick’s Sporting Goods and grants to several flag football organizations nationwide.

Launching alongside the NFL season, Gatorade’s new campaign film, narrated by Lamar Jackson, features a star-studded lineup of athletes inspiring the next generation to find their “IT” and strive for greatness. “This campaign is all about the idea that ‘IT’ is an internal mindset that drives you to be your best,” said Jackson.

Fresh from his successful quest to pick up a fourth Olympic gold medal, veteran NBA star Kevin Durant has become a minority shareholder at big-spending Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain. Clearly, the Phoenix Suns star has enjoyed his time in the French capital, and his move to invest in the soccer club came as part of his involvement with Arctos Sports Partners, who have a 12.5% stake in PSG.

35-year-old Durant is known to be a big soccer fan, and though PSG no longer has two of their most bankable assets, with Kylian Mbappe moving to Real Madrid over the summer and Lionel Messi having moved to Inter Miami a year earlier, the Parc des Princes side are still among Europe’s elite and have successful manager Luis Enrique at the helm.

Durant showed glimpses of his best during his first full season at Phoenix in 2023/24, and Suns fans who feel that the legendary star could help the Arizona-based franchise to their first-ever NBA title would do well to take a good look at the key insights and info relating to the best sportsbooks here, thereby assisting efforts to make the biggest bang for their buck. 

By all accounts, Durant is a good friend of PSG president Nasse al Khelaifi and he is part-owner of MLS side Philadelphia Union. It does seem very fashionable for big US stars to get financially involved in soccer right now.

Then there’s LeBron James, who has been involved with Premier League giants Liverpool for a number of years now. PSG are, by some distance, the biggest club in French football, hence their run of 10 domestic titles over the past 12 years, with the only sides to break that dominance being AS Monaco in 2016/17 and Lille in 2020/21.

It’s worth noting that prior to major investment from Qatar, PSG had won just two Ligue 1 titles in forty years, which goes some way to illustrate just how far the club have come in the past decade or so.

They are still hot in pursuit of their first-ever UEFA Champions League title, having reached the final in 2019/20, only to lose to Bayern Munich by a solitary goal from former player Kingsley Coman.

In 2024/25, Durant will hope to steer the Suns deep into the postseason and will hope to impress new head coach Mike Budenholzer, who came in to replace Frank Vogel, who lasted just one season at the Footprint Center.

He signed a five-year deal in May, worth a reported $50 million, making him the fifth-highest-paid coach in the NBA. 

Prior to his appointment as Suns head coach, he spent five years at the Milwaukee Bucks, having also spent five years at the Atlanta Hawks prior to that. He led the Bucks to the 2021 NBA title but was then fired in May 2023 after they lost to the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs in five games.

Law enforcement officials have confirmed that a University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestler has been arrested on Labor Day for the murder of the school’s star gymnast.

Chad Richards, 23, a former wrestler at Univ. of Wisc.-Whitewater, was present at the time of 21-year-old Kara Welsh’s death and, after an investigation, was placed under arrest at the off-campus apartment unit. Investigators discovered that Richards and Welsh had an altercation in the apartment that ended in fatal gunfire.

Richards made his first appearance in court yesterday(September 3) at the Walworth County Courthouse, where he has been charged with first-degree murder, endangering safety by the use of dangerous weapons, and disorderly conduct while armed, according to Whitewater PD.

“Due to the fact that this an ongoing investigation, no additional details will be provided at this time,” WPD said.

Welsh is a well-known gymnast who recently won a title at nationals and the WIAC Championship in 2023. In 2022, Kara placed 2nd at the WIAC Championship and 3rd in the NCGA Championships.

The Welsh family has started a GoFundMe to help with end of life expenses for Kara.

Cam’ron and the “It Is What It Is” sports show announce Michael Irvin as the show’s newest football analyst for season 5, starting September 2nd. 

Michael Irvin worked for the NFL Network for 15 years as an analyst. Irvin also spent several years providing football analysis on ESPN’s First Take, GET UP, Sunday NFL Countdown, and other ESPN programs.

Before his commentary career, Michael Irvin was deemed the “playmaker” for the Dallas Cowboys. He was a key piece in the Cowboys’ football dynasty, which won three Super Bowl titles in the 1990s. 

Michael Irvin is a member of the Hall of Fame All-1990s NFL team, a 5x Pro Bowler, a 1x All-Pro, and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In his 11-year career, he caught 750 passes for 11,904 yards and 65 touchdowns. He earned his 5 Pro Bowl selections from 1991-1995.

Several reports have confirmed that longtime Calgary Flames player Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were struck by a drunk driver and killed while cycling through their hometown in New Jersey just hours before their sister was scheduled to get married.

According to NJ State Police who were on the scene, “Troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash at 8:19 PM on County Route 551 North, milepost 11.1 Oldmans Township, Salem County. Based on a preliminary investigation, two pedalcyclists, John M. Gaudreau, a 31-year-old male from Carneys Point, N.J., and Matthew R. Gaudreau, a 29-year-old male from Pedricktown, N.J., were traveling north on County Route 551, close to the fog line of the roadway. Sean M. Higgins, a 43-year-old male from Woodstown, N.J., was traveling north on CR 551 in a Jeep Grand Cherokee behind a sedan and SUV.”

They continued, “Higgins attempted to pass the slower-moving sedan and SUV, entered the southbound lanes of travel, passed the slower-moving sedan, and attempted to re-enter the northbound lanes of travel when the SUV in front of Higgins moved to the middle of the roadway, splitting the north and south lanes to safely pass the two pedalcyclist traveling north on the right side of the roadway. Higgins then attempted to pass the SUV on the right and struck the two pedalcyclists in the rear. As a result of the collision, the two pedalcyclists sustained fatal injuries. Through further investigation, Higgins was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, charged with two counts of death by auto, and lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility. This crash remains an active investigation, and no additional information is available.”

Katie Gaudreau, the sister of the Gaudreau brothers, and Devin Joyce were slated to exchange nuptials on Friday(August 30) afternoon, but due to the recent tragedy the wedding has been cancelled.

Johnny and Matthew were both set to be groomsmen in their sister’s wedding and were just present at the wedding’s rehearsal on Thursday night. Johnny’s children were also listed as the wedding’s flower girl and ring bearer. Johnny’s wife and other sister were named one of the maids of honor.

Johnny, who was popularly recognized as “Johnny Hockey”, played nine out of his eleven season in the NHL with the Flames besides the last two seasons, which he played with the Columbus Blue Jackets, who issued a statement about his untimely passing. The team said they were “shocked and devastated” by the tragedy while calling Johnny a great hockey player. More importantly, they said Johnny loved his family and offered their support to his grieving relatives.

Other NHL players and athletes across the sports spectrum, including Lebron James, paid tribute to the NHL great and how heartbreaking the loss of Gaudreau and his family to the sports community.

This week’s playlist comes from Brooklyn Cyclones’ on fire infielder Junior Tilien. This 21-year-old has been increasingly delivering for the Mets organization since being signed in 2021. Tilien played for the Florida Complex League when he was signed, but was quickly called up to St. Lucie the next year at 19 years old, putting up a .248 batting average 12 homers and a whopping 44 RBIs in just 84 games.

The Dominican Republic-born right hander struggled in his first year in Coney Island and was sent back to redeem himself before he returned back to Brooklyn in 2024. After leading off the line up for the first half of the season, Tilien’s consistency at the plate got him shifted to the clean up position for a good part of the summer, even with him in the batter’s box as the DH when he wasn’t on the field. In 103 games with the Cyclones this year, Tilien BA is a modest .228, with 84 hits, including six HRs, 40 RBIs and slashing .304/.329/.632.
