Haute Living celebrated its September cover star, 50 Cent, with an intimate dinner at the Hudson Club in NYC on Monday, September 9. New York-based artist Skott Marsi presented a painting to 50 Cent at the event with a Tiger honoring success and power as a New Yorker to New Yorker.

The event was held in partnership with the Hudson Club New York. Guests sipped on Sire Spirits, Branson Cognac, and Le Chemin du Roi champagne.

The exclusive dinner hosted notable attendees, including Kamal Hotchandani, CEO of Haute Media Group, Laura Schreffler, Editor-in-Chief of Haute Media Group, Lauren Mosseri, VP of Communications and Luxury Partnerships at Haute Media Group, Ellen von Unwerth, Jonathan Cheban aka Foodgod, Naeem Khan, Linn Berggren, Anne Vyalitsyna, Erica Pelosini, Eytan Sugarman, Matt Shendell, Richie Romero, Andrea Ienna, Keytt and Alex Lundqvist, and more.

“In life,” says Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who just released his novel The Accomplice, “you don’t get a second chance at a first impression. I think my first impression was big enough. I had the largest debut hip-hop album in history as I came in.”  

On attending Eminem’s daughter Hailie Jade’s wedding: “It was unbelievable, the wildest thing for me, period. I was like, ‘Yo, bro, this is crazy. We’re getting old. Your baby is grown. What the fuck is going on?’ I was having a moment myself over there. I told Em, ‘You said it was OK to cry, because I’m crying.’ I couldn’t believe it went that fast.”“

In 2019, Shaniqua Davis founded Black Yacht Weekend, a luxury event experience in Chicago inspired by the famed Yacht Week in Croatia. What began as a local event to recreate the magic of yacht trips abroad has quickly grown into a cultural celebration that attracts attendees from around the globe. Now in its fourth year, Black Yacht Weekend has become a highlight of the summer, blending music, food, and vibrant social gatherings on land and water.

This year, a special Labor Day pop-up edition in partnership with Ciroc will elevate the experience even further, featuring brunches, yacht parties, and a transformed beach oasis to celebrate the launch of Ciroc’s new Lemonade product. As Shaniqua continues to build this unique brand, she shares her vision for creating unforgettable experiences that unite people in celebration of life, culture, and community.

Ahead of the weekend, Davis spoke with The Source on the development of Chicago’s Black Yacht Weekend and what is to come in the future.

The SOURCE: Can you tell us about the inspiration behind Black Yacht Weekend and how it came to life?

I came up with the idea for Black Yacht Weekend in 2019 after exploring Yacht Week in Croatia. At that time, a lot of friends were planning these big group trips to Croatia and Greece, and I thought it looked amazing. But it was really expensive, and the whole experience required a lot. It’s still on my bucket list, but until I have the opportunity to do that, I wanted to recreate that experience here in Chicago. I think Chicago is the most beautiful place in the summer, and it felt like a great opportunity to bring people together. Since 2019, we’ve been doing this for four years, and it’s grown each time. Now, we have an amazing partnership with Ciroc, which is looking to be our continuing backing partner.

You mentioned that partnership. How did it come about, and what will it bring to this year’s event that may not have been present in the past?

This weekend is actually a pop-up experience. Our annual event was in June, with around 500 people coming to Chicago worldwide. Ciroc reached out to us in May and wanted to explore a partnership for the June event, but we couldn’t make it work then due to timing. They asked if we could recreate the experience for Labor Day weekend to celebrate their new Ciroc Lemonade product launch. With this partnership, we’re taking all the elements of what we do—parties on land, parties on water—and letting them enhance the experience with their product.

At all the events I host, whether Black Yacht Weekend or otherwise, people are always wowed by unique experiences, whether it’s dancers, musical artists, or special giveaways. With Ciroc involved, there will be a lot of product giveaways, like tote bags, complimentary drinks, and food. At the Beach Fest, we’re transforming Whispers into a beach oasis to create a Mediterranean experience in Chicago. What are you most excited about for this pop-up experience?

I’m really excited about the Beach Party. My backyard is currently filled with Ciroc products! I thought they would send a few things, but it looks like a Ciroc shop in here. Seeing all of this makes me confident that what we’re going to walk into on Monday will be something truly special. It will be a fun way to wrap up the Chicago summer.

My last question concerns your ambitions for the event and the brand. What are some of your key goals for this weekend, and what does the future look like for you?

My goal for this weekend is to showcase the brand’s growth and where we’re heading. I want people to see Black Yacht Weekend as more than just a boat meetup—it’s a full production experience. People should start planning for it years in advance, like a floating festival on the water. We had people fly in from South Africa, London, New Zealand, and more for the June event. With our June 19-22 event next year, which starts on Juneteenth, we’re excited to continue building partnerships and expanding into new cities.

Michael Rubin’s white party again took over The Hamptons with entertainment and sports elite. Included among the guests was Drake, making one of his first public appearances in the fall out of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” running the summer.

The Boy was decked in cream, not white, and delivered a performance alongside Lil Wayne. Making it more comfortable for him, no Kendrick Lamar music was played during the event.

According to TMZ, the house DJs stayed away from anything from Lamar.

And now Michael Rubin reveals he made that call. Appearing on The Breakfast Club, Rubin revealed that was his call. “I just didn’t think it was appropriate, so I said, ‘Hey, let’s not play anyone’s music that’s feuding with anyone here,'” Rubin said. “That was a me decision. I just thought it wasn’t the appropriate thing to do.”

Adhering to the event’s all-white dress code, guests showcased an array of stylish ensembles. Camila Cabello and Emily Ratajkowski dazzled in drapey mini dresses, while Teyana Taylor opted for a striking white maxi with a gold metallic belt. In the world of culinary innovation, few chefs have managed to carve out a niche as distinct and groundbreaking as Chef Travis Petersen. A Vancouver native, Chef Petersen’s journey from competing on Masterchef to becoming a pioneer in the culinary cannabis scene is nothing short of inspiring. His story is one of passion, creativity, and a deep respect for the art of cooking—infused with the complex and multifaceted world of cannabis.

A Pioneering Path

Chef Travis Petersen, known as The Nomad Cook, began his culinary career in 2016 after competing on the hit TV show Masterchef. His introduction to cannabis-infused dining was serendipitous. In 2018, following Canada’s federal legalization of cannabis, Petersen transformed his home into a pop-up restaurant during the 420 weekend, hosting his first cannabis dinner. Over four days, he served 164 guests, a number that signaled the start of something much larger.

“I grew up in Vancouver, where the cannabis culture was widely accepted long before legalization. We’re known for some of the best bud in the world, and since my late teens, I’ve been a connoisseur of high-grade cannabis,” Petersen recalls. “That weekend in 2018, I had over 160 guests come through my house. The demographic was far from what I expected—people from all walks of life, cultures, and ages. Watching them come together around the table was something very special.”

From that moment, Chef Petersen knew that this was no passing trend. He has since served over 20,000 people their first infused dining experience, with close to 900 of those guests being first-time cannabis users.

The First High: A Memorable Start

Hosting his first cannabis dinners was a whirlwind experience. “We were hosting 12 guests at a time with five seatings a day over the four-day period,” Petersen says. One group stood out—a diverse mix of 21-year-old raver kids, a wealthy quiet Asian couple, a couple in their 40s, two hockey players, and a 68-year-old widower. Despite their differences, the group bonded instantly, sharing stories and laughter throughout the meal. “It was at that moment I realized there was something really special with culinary cannabis, and that this was not going to be a fad.”

Crafting an Infused Experience

Serving over 20,000 people their first infused dining experience is no small feat, especially when many are new to cannabis. Petersen takes great care in ensuring that first-time users have a positive experience. “Guests who’ve come in to consume cannabis for the first time are usually very nervous,” he explains. “They are the most important people we serve because we only get one chance to do it right.” Petersen emphasizes the importance of accurate dosing and using full-spectrum extractions, which offer a more balanced experience. “Those first-time guests usually follow up the next day with an email stating how much fun they had, how they had an amazing sleep, and woke up without a hangover.”

A Culinary Cannabis Education

In 2021, Chef Petersen launched Canada’s first recognized culinary cannabis certificate, a groundbreaking initiative that gained national media attention. His efforts to bring legitimacy and education to the culinary cannabis space have made him a pioneer. “Surprisingly, there really wasn’t a challenge other than getting the word out to the media on what we were doing,” Petersen says. The certificate program, supported by Canada’s largest national supplier of restaurant equipment, Russel Hendrix, and four culinary brands, quickly gained traction, certifying the first 250 culinary professionals in safety for culinary cannabis.

Nomadic Nights: Bringing Infused Dining Across the U.S.

Since relocating to the U.S. in 2021, Chef Petersen has taken his Nomadic Nights Pop Up dinner series to 38 cities across 18 states. Each dinner is a carefully curated experience, with menus tailored to the local markets and often paired with terpenes from state-specific cannabis strains. “My focus on menu development is always about the terpene profiles,” Petersen explains. His collaborations with major cannabis brands in North America further enhance the dining experience, with some brands offering products in goodie bags at the end of the meal, adding an unexpected value for guests.

From Cookbook to Online Course

In 2022, Petersen released his first cookbook, Introduction to Culinary Cannabis, a resource that offers a culinary approach to cooking with cannabis, with 80 pages of theory and 42 recipes. “Most cannabis cookbooks focus on brownies, cookies, and gummies—recipes that are perfect for stoner culture. My cookbook takes a culinary approach, offering recipes outside the norm,” Petersen says. His cookbook delves into the science of terpenes, extraction methods, and dosing, making it a comprehensive guide for anyone interested in culinary cannabis.

Following the success of his cookbook, Petersen created an online course in 2024 designed to teach both home cooks and chefs how to cook with cannabis safely, accurately, and confidently. “Cannabis has been the forbidden fruit of the kitchen, and the appetite from chefs to learn this skill set is at an all-time high,” he notes. The course covers everything from the fundamentals of culinary cannabis to advanced extraction methods, and participants receive a certificate upon completion.

A Global Culinary Adventure

Chef Petersen’s partnership with Soho House took him on a European tour in 2023, where he hosted infused dinners in iconic cities like London, Brighton, Amsterdam, and Paris. “Getting to cook in London and Paris was a dream I never dared to have,” Petersen reflects. The reception in Europe was markedly different from North America, with guests having much lower tolerance levels. “It is very common for guests to ask for 50-100 mg of THC or even more in North America. In Europe, 5-10 mg was more common than not.”

Hip Hop’s Influence on the Nomad Cook

As a 90s kid, Chef Petersen grew up with the sounds of Tupac, Biggie, Nas, and Snoop Dogg—pioneers in their own right. “Watching them go against the grain and carve out amazing careers is inspiring. There are very few cannabis chefs out doing this at a high level, and it’s exciting to be going against the grain and carving out my own path,” he says. The influence of hip hop is evident in his work, from the music playing during his dinners to the ethos of innovation and pushing boundaries that defines his culinary approach.

A Culinary High: My Experience with Chef Petersen

I had the privilege of attending one of Chef Petersen’s highly sought-after dinners, partnered with Kush Klub Dispensary, for a beautiful six-course menu. The setting was as unique as the dishes—an outside garden decorated with the owner’s creation of tombstones. The evening was a celebration of flavors, each dish thoughtfully curated and adjusted with the exact THC level for each diner’s tolerance.

The Source: Yesenia, Health As a Motha is truly a one-of-a-kind restaurant. What inspired you to create a plant-based restaurant that fuses Dominican and Trinidadian flavors?

Yesenia Ramdass: The inspiration came from my own cultural heritage and health journey. Growing up, I was surrounded by the vibrant flavors of Dominican and Trinidadian cuisine, but I also saw firsthand how our traditional diets could be healthier. After losing my mother to stage IV kidney cancer, I became even more passionate about holistic nutrition and the importance of what we put into our bodies. I wanted to create a space where people could enjoy the rich flavors of our culture without compromising their health.

The Source: It’s clear that H.A.A.M. is more than just a restaurant—it’s a lifestyle brand. Can you tell us more about the philosophy behind Healthy As a Motha?

Yesenia Ramdass: Absolutely. Healthy As a Motha is all about overcoming the challenges of transitioning to a healthier lifestyle. It’s about making conscious choices that benefit not just our bodies, but our minds and souls as well. The brand represents a holistic approach to health—understanding that what we eat is just one part of the equation. It’s about nourishing the mind with positive thoughts and the soul with good energy. Our restaurant embodies this philosophy by offering dishes that are not only delicious but also align with the values of sustainability, ethics, and wellness.

The Source: You’ve mentioned that you became a vegetarian at the age of 17 after reading “Skinny Bitch.” How did that book influence your journey toward plant-based living?

Yesenia Ramdass: That book was a game-changer for me. It opened my eyes to the harsh realities of the food industry, especially when it comes to animal products. The information was so powerful that I couldn’t unlearn it. It wasn’t just about becoming a vegetarian; it was about making informed choices that align with my values. From there, my journey into holistic health deepened, and I eventually transitioned to a fully plant-based lifestyle.

The Source: Losing a loved one to cancer is incredibly difficult. How did your mother’s battle with cancer shape your approach to health and wellness?

Yesenia Ramdass: Losing my mother was one of the hardest experiences of my life. It made me realize how crucial our health is and how much it can be influenced by our lifestyle choices. Watching her struggle motivated me to dive deeper into holistic nutrition and explore alternative options that aren’t always readily available. It became my mission to share what I’ve learned with others, hoping to make a difference in their lives. Health is everything—without it, nothing else matters.

The Source: Your menu at H.A.A.M. offers a delightful fusion of island flavors. What are some of your favorite dishes, and how do they reflect your cultural heritage?

Yesenia Ramdass: Some of my favorite dishes include the Jerk Tamarind Oyster Mushroom Burger and the Empanadas Trio. These dishes are a perfect representation of the fusion we aim for—combining traditional island flavors with plant-based ingredients to create something both familiar and new. The Bake and Shark is another favorite, offering a plant-based twist on a Trinidadian classic. Each dish is crafted with love and respect for our cultural roots, while also embracing the health benefits of plant-based eating.

The Source: What message do you hope to convey to your customers and the broader community through your restaurant and lifestyle brand?

Yesenia Ramdass: I want people to understand that transitioning to a healthier lifestyle doesn’t have to be daunting. It’s about making small, conscious choices every day that add up to big changes over time. Through our food, I hope to show that healthy eating can be delicious and satisfying, and that it’s possible to honor our cultural traditions while also making choices that are good for our bodies and the planet. Ultimately, I want to empower people to take control of their health and live their best lives.

The Source: Lastly, what’s next for H.A.A.M? Any exciting plans on the horizon?

Yesenia Ramdass: We’re always looking to expand our reach and impact. We’re exploring the possibility of opening more locations and even launching a line of plant-based products inspired by our menu. Our goal is to continue bridging cultures through clean, plant-based cuisine and to keep spreading the message of health and wellness far and wide.

Taylor and her entourage were spotted exploring Atlantis’ Marina Village, where she indulged in some retail therapy with purchases from the resort’s Barbie Bahamas Beach Vacation collaboration. The shopping spree continued at Crystal Court’s Balenciaga, where Taylor shut down the store for a private session.

Basically, according to a source close to her and reported by Marca, Pippen ultimately ended the relationship due to Jordan’s hidden lifestyle and daily lies about using drugs. Yikes. What’s wild still is Pippen … Jordan, in the same sentence but it’s not about Scottie and MJ. Sorry, we had to point that out. 

“She can’t waste her energy on anyone who takes drugs,” the source told the outlet. “He’s been hiding this lifestyle for a while and used to lie to her about it every day.” The insider added that Pippen stopped taking calls from Jordan when his behavior became too erratic to handle.

This all came to light after a few viral photos of Jordan appearing to snort somethin’ white, at an outdoor table in France. Internet sleuths have not been able to confirm the substance, but his lady friend, Ashley Stevenson, was seen giggling beside him in the photos. How quick some of these people just move on is always fascinating. 

After the images broke the interwebs, Stevenson reportedly began to distance herself from Jordan. “I’m single…Marcus and I are NOT dating and haven’t been,” Stevenson posted on Instagram in response to the photos. Quick fast reaction.

Get this, Pippen and Jordan, went public as a couple on Instagram, first broke up in February after a year together. Rough. They briefly reconciled on Valentine’s Day but parted ways again in March.

With Alyssa Scott, he has two children: son Zen, who passed away at 5 months old in December 2021 due to brain cancer, and daughter Halo Marie Cannon, born on December 14, 2022.

Cannon mentioned to E! that all of the children’s mothers get along, even though he doesn’t “expect them to.” He explained, “I think that’s the thing that people might always think that it would be that. But it’s like everybody lives their own life, before me and after me. So I think that’s how you keep the peace and everybody moving, like everybody worried about themselves and not worried about what someone else is.”

The avid father emphasized that the key to maintaining harmony is focusing on the children’s happiness, saying, “As long as the kids are happy and they have the strongest understanding, I think that’s what makes sense. You gotta operate out of that.”

Well, here we go, another day, another legal claim. This time the estate of the late rapper Juice WRLD is in the crosshairs of Joshua Jaramillo. Let’s get into it …

Jaramillo is a producer who is suing Juice WRLD’s estate in a claims that is all too familiar in not just Hip Hop but music in general. TMZ reported he is looking to recover royalties owed to him for his work on one of Juice WRLD’s posthumous tracks. 

Now you know TMZ are masters at getting their all seeing eyes on filed legal documents and in the paperwork, Jaramillo alleges he helped produce the 2021 song “Girl of My Dreams” and was promised 5% ownership of the track along with 1% of its royalties. 

Sounds like a standard deal Not a huge percentage but depending how the song streamed and any other revenue that may have come from the song, that percentage could mean a few bucks.

Why sue now? Get this, despite repeated requests, Jaramillo asserts that he has not been fully compensated and has not been informed about the total earnings from the song. Naturally, he is seeking unspecified damages and a complete accounting of the track’s revenue. He wants his money owed and damages for all that comes with the ordeal. Lawsuit 101 tbh.

If you recall, Juice WRLD, born Jarad Higgins, tragically passed away in December 2019 at the age of 21 due to an accidental overdose. The worst thing ever, for real. The Medical Examiner’s Office reported that he had toxic levels of oxycodone and codeine in his system at the time of his death. Super sad. Hopefully this story ends with as little stress as possible for all those involved.

Kanye West has finally found a buyer for his Malibu mansion, which had been sitting unfinished, gutted, and pretty much an eyesore as far as beachfront properties go. According to online records, the property entered escrow last Thursday. So, yeah, somebody is about to cut the check. 

West had been trying to sell the estate for some time, and in April, he slashed $14 million off the original $53 million asking price from January, bringing it down to $39 million. That’s about 25%. Do you think he is taking a loss? Quite possibly.

The final sale price remains undisclosed – so don’t ask.

ICYMI, the mansion was stripped down as part of a renovation project that Kanye never completed. Like, eh, 50 million dollar crib. Let’s strip it down to the studs and move onto something else. Gotta love it. Not to mention, the architect is like award-winning. Ye left it in a state that requires significant repairs. The property lacks walls and feels nearly uninhabitable, making it a major fixer-upper for the new owner, assuming escrow closes successfully. Whoever is taking it on has a project on their hands. 

Get this: Kanye enlisted the help of “Selling Sunset” star Jason Oppenheim to market the property. Oppenheim promoted the mansion as a blank canvas, appealing to the buyer. Oh, Ye thought it was a canvas, too. Let’s see how that works out. 

Anywho, the 4,000-square-foot estate includes 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, outdoor decks, and expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. Conceptually, it is beautiful. Time will tell what it actually looks like when it’s all said and done.

Snoop wanted to honor and share the love he and Pac shared with the rest of the world.

How did the idea of incorporating 2Pac’s legacy into the cannabis collection come about, and what was the creative process like?

Working with the 2Pac Estate has been such a joy. The exploratory process included storytelling, funny memories, and exploring his smoking habits. The Estate and the DRRC team worked in lockstep to determine strain selections, conducting various tests, and combing through different assets and imagery that made sense for this line. The 6 God recently posted on Instagram that his massive Toronto mansion, “The Embassy,” was not immune to Tuesday’s record-setting rainfall in the region, triggering flooding throughout his estate. 

Widespread power outages were recorded across parts of Canada, and sources say some 167,000 were without electricity following the storms.

Get this: On Drake’s Gram story @champagnepapi, the “Tootsie Slide” rapper posted what appeared to be brown water flooding a vanity room, closet, and other areas within his luxurious home. 

Drizzy waded through the ankle-deep water and found a bit of fun in the distressing scene by hilariously captioning the scene: 

“This better be Espresso Martini.”

The 4 inches of rain across Toronto may have flooded 700 basements.

Canadian architectural and interior designer Ferris Rafauli designed drake’s mansion. 

It’s beautiful. 

The 50,000-square-foot estate features an NBA-sized indoor basketball court, a recording studio, an awards room, an indoor swimming pool, modern Art Deco interiors, and a chandelier made of over 20,000 Swarovski crystals, as highlighted in an April 2020 profile by Architectural Digest.

“Because I was building it in my hometown, I wanted the structure to stand firm for 100 years. I wanted it to have a monumental scale and feel,” Drake told Architectural Digest. “It will be one of the things I leave behind, so it had to be timeless and strong.”

Thankfully, Drake can afford the repairs and probably have to shell out hundreds of thousands to rectify the damage caused by massive flooding. Sadly, many others in Toronto won’t be that lucky.

ICYMI, Wiz Khalifa was in Romania this past weekend performing at the Beach, Please! Festival in Constanța County and while that’s not really earth shattering news, Wiz, got himself arrested. Apparently, he lit a joint “cannabis under the shape of a craft cigarette,” and supposedly was in possession of additional cannabis. Now out in Romania, recreational marijuana is illegal. 

Get this, according to a press release, that was translated thanks to Hollywood Reporter, he was in possession of over 18 grams of weed. Hmm, okay, that’s something. 

So Wiz was released from custody pretty fast after the detainment and seems like he got himself a Popeyes chicken sandwich but more importantly issued an apology to the people of Romania. 

“Last nights show was amazing,” Wiz tweeted Sunday. “I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.”

Glad Wiz is not being treated like an arch criminal. He obviously learned a lesson. On that note, check out his mea culpa below.

Wiz Khalifa just caught a case in Romania. Here we go, SMH. The charge? Illegal drug possession. Not to be taken lightly in Eastern Europe. 

It all went down following a show at a seaside festival in Romania. 

Get this, Wiz allegedly took a puff of cannabis on stage, prosecutors announced on Sunday. Just out in the open, huh?

The “Black and Yellow” rapper was headlining the “Beach, Please!” festival in Costinești, a village on the Black Sea, a beautiful part of the world FTR. 

Reports allege he was found in possession of the drugs Sunday morning, according to prosecutors out there.

Here’s what they said in a press release from the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) – Constanța Territorial Service: 

“The prosecutors…ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings against a defendant (US citizen), investigated for the crime of unlawful possession of risk drugs.”

Okay, “Organized Crime and Terrorism” made a statement? Who do they think he is, Al Capone?

They went on to say in their grand statement:

“During a recital held at a music festival in the resort of Costinești, Constanța county, [Khalifa] possessed over 18 grams of cannabis (risk drug) and consumed another amount of cannabis on stage in the form of a craft cigarette.”

So obviously, in Romania, this is no laughing matter. Cannabis is classified out there as a “risk drug,” and possession of the substance is, get this – punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Sheesh. 

Although Khalifa has been charged, he was not taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing. Now exhale. Pun intended.

Hip-hop mogul Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter has become the latest celebrity to back the online watch market, taking an equity stake in luxury trading platform Wristcheck. The Hong Kong-based company recently secured approximately $5 million in funding, with Jay-Z among the prominent investors.

Jay-Z, renowned for his extensive collection of rare and valuable watches from brands like Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and Richard Mille, joins other high-profile celebrities venturing into the watch trading space. Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and F1 driver Charles Leclerc are investors in Chrono24, the largest dedicated online watch-trading platform, while Bezel, its US competitor, has attracted backing from Kevin Hart, John Legend, and J Balvin.

Founded in 2020 by watch collector and Instagram influencer-turned-CEO Austen Chu, Wristcheck targets high-end timepiece buyers and sellers in Asia and offers authentication services to combat counterfeit products. The company has raised about $13.6 million to date.

Jay-Z participated in Wristcheck’s pre-series A funding round alongside Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund, Gobi Partners GBA, and K3 Ventures. Austen Chu expressed admiration for Jay-Z, stating, “As an entrepreneur, Jay-Z has always been an inspiration to me. His lyrics not only introduced me to watch brands like Audemars Piguet but also fueled my love for watches even further, as he bridged the gap between watches and pop culture.”

Jay-Z, whose net worth is estimated at $2 billion according to Celebrity Net Worth, has amassed his fortune through music sales and strategic business investments. His ventures include beverage start-ups Armand de Brignac and D’Usse, as well as the streaming service Tidal, all of which he has sold controlling stakes in to corporations like LVMH, Bacardi, and Square.

As the founder of Marcy Venture Partners, Jay-Z’s portfolio includes investments in blockchain platform Alchemy, wellness company Therabody, and alternative meat company Impossible Foods. He has also exited investments in Uber and JetSmarter, significantly boosting his fortune by over $1 billion since 2022.

Jay-Z co-owns the entertainment agency Roc Nation with concert business Live Nation. Together with his wife, Beyoncé Knowles, the couple’s combined net worth stands at $2.6 billion. Their property holdings in the US are valued at least $350 million.

The Boy was decked in cream, not white, and delivered a performance alongside Lil Wayne. Making it more comfortable for him, no Kendrick Lamar music was played during the event.

According to TMZ, the house DJs stayed away from anything from Lamar.

As applications open for the 2025 Disney Dreamers Academy, one recent graduate, Te’Lario Watkins II of Ohio, exemplifies the transformative power of this Walt Disney World Resort mentoring program. Watkins, a 16-year-old aspiring entrepreneur, recently experienced a dream-come-true moment due to his participation in the academy.

Watkins, who has been running his own mushroom farm, Tiger Mushroom Farms, since the age of seven and started a non-profit Garden Club Project to address food insecurity in his community, caught the attention of investor Daymond John during the 2024 Disney Dreamers Academy. John, a celebrity mentor at the event, was so inspired by Watkins’ story that he invited him to spend an afternoon on the set of ABC’s hit show Shark Tank.

Walt Disney World arranged for Watkins and his father to fly from their home in Blacklick, Ohio to Los Angeles, California. There, John gave Watkins an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the Shark Tank set, connected him with other entrepreneurs, and introduced him to the show’s other “Sharks.” The highlight for Watkins was the opportunity to learn business strategies from John, gain entrepreneurial insights, and acquire life lessons from one of the most well-known self-made millionaires of his generation.

“Being able to meet Daymond John again was super exciting to me,” said Watkins. “I wouldn’t be here without going to DDA. To high school students: applying to DDA would be one of the greatest decisions you’ve ever made in your life.”

Earlier today, Disney announced during the ESSENCE Festival of Culture in New Orleans, Louisiana, that applications are now open for the 2025 Disney Dreamers Academy at www.DisneyDreamersAcademy.com. High school students looking to achieve their dreams can be nominated or apply themselves.

The Disney Dreamers Academy is an annual four-day transformational program at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. It is designed to broaden career and personal development for a select group of 100 teens from Black and underrepresented communities across America. These students will receive an all-expense-paid trip, along with one parent or guardian, to Walt Disney World Resort to experience a combination of inspiration, education, and fun at The Most Magical Place on Earth.

During the program, students attend in-depth workshops in a variety of disciplines aligned with their dreams. These workshops introduce the Disney Dreamers to diverse career paths within business, entertainment, and sciences, including opportunities within The Walt Disney Company.

Watkins was one of several teens from this year’s Disney mentoring program who had a life-changing experience following their involvement in the event. Elijah Moore of Norfolk, VA, an aspiring producer and musician, was flown to Los Angeles where he received a special tour of Dolby Studios and Walt Disney Studios. Orlando Ecung of Los Angeles, who dreams of being a business executive, attended the world premiere of the movie Inside Out 2 as a special guest of Walt Disney Studios.

Over the years, Disney Dreamers Academy has inspired more than 1,700 students from across the country. Graduates have gone on to become doctors, engineers, performing artists, entrepreneurs, Disney Cast Members, and more. Some have even transitioned into mentors for the next generation of Disney Dreamers.

Disney Dreamers Academy is a vital part of Disney’s commitment to supporting diverse communities. It encourages the next generation to think big and use what they learn in their relentless pursuit of their dreams to help make a difference in the lives of others.

Nick Cannon has put a price tag on his private parts. Sorry, but “that part” is hilarious. 

The host of The Masked Singer recently disclosed that he insured his testicles for $10 million, citing practical reasons for the decision as the father of 12.

Insured the jewels. Let that sink in for a second.

“I had to insure my most valuable assets,” Nick explained to Entertainment Tonight in an interview published on July 1. “You hear about all these different celebrities insuring their legs… so I was like, ‘Hey, well, I got to insure my most valuable body part.'”

At 43, the multi-hyphenate Cannon sees it as a precautionary measure. “[I’m] just making sure nothing goes wrong,” he added.

Last month, the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” actor clarified that he hadn’t lost his mind but was merely protecting himself using Dr. Squatch’s Ball Valuation Tool. “Haters say it’s time for me to stop having kids and put this super sperm to rest,” he wrote on Instagram, “but I’m doubling down on these valuable balls and my future kids.”

He continued, “Shoutout to Dr. Squatch for giving my balls the credit they deserve, and hooking me up with the protection I need to keep this family tree rolling!”

Unless you’re under a rock, Cannon’s family tree is extensive. He shares 13-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-wife Mariah Carey; Golden “Sagon,” 7, Powerful Queen, 3, and Rise Messiah, 21 months, with Brittany Bell; twins Zion and Zillion, 3, and daughter Beautiful Zeppelin, 19 months, with Abby De La Rosa; Legendary Love, 2, with Bre Tiesi; and Onyx Ice, 21 months, with LaNisha Cole.

Hosted by Megami of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16, the celebration was nothing short of spectacular. Megami’s energy and charisma had the crowd turned up and special guest pop-artist Ashley Longshore added a splash of star power to the event. The evening featured a naming contest and ceremony for the rooftop Queen honeybees, adding a unique and memorable touch to the festivities.

Guests enjoyed the luxurious cabana seating, which set a sexy and relaxed mood as they feasted on delicious bites from the Asian-Hawaiian outpost, El Ta’koy. The culinary delights were complemented by refreshing drinks, including a frose that was a crowd favorite and knocked everyone’s socks off.

Peloton Studios New York turned up the heat on June 27 thanks to a special visit from Grammy AwardⓇ winning rapper, producer, and entrepreneur Lil Jon. As a special guest for one of Lil Jon’s two classes in his first-ever Artist Series with Peloton, I witnessed an electrifying session that left everyone turnt, crunk, and shaking like a salt shaker by the end of the class.

Peloton recently launched its brand’s first-ever Lil Jon Artist Series to celebrate his hits, classics, and new songs. The Artist Series spans six classes, including Cycling, Tread, Row, Meditation, and Strength. Members were thrilled when Lil Jon walked into the already buzzing studio to take the class with them.

In celebration of his second meditation album, Manifest Abundance, Lil Jon co-led Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts’ ten-minute Meditation class. Both artists share a passion for mindfulness and manifestation, and the meditation session focused on empowerment, emphasizing the intertwined nature of movement and music.

Lil Jon then transitioned from the mat to The Club, making a special appearance in Alex Toussaint’s signature Club Bangers Ride. Created in collaboration with AWGE, the American Sabotage x AWGE Men’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection debuted at Paris Fashion Week on June 21, with Rihanna attending to support Rocky. 

Get this: the Fenty Hair founder wore a burgundy, fur-lined bomber jacket and studded high heels, capturing photos and videos of the show.

Rocky described the collection as follows: “American Sabotage is more than just a brand–it’s a movement. We’re wrecking boundaries and making statements through every piece, reflecting the spirit and resilience of our communities. This is fashion with purpose, where art meets activism.”

Grammy-Award winners PJ Morton and Terence Blanchard recorded this special soundtrack in New Orleans with some of the city’s most prolific talent, including Jon Batiste, Trombone Shorty, Jon Cleary, and more. In a behind-the-scenes video, Leah Chase Kamata, daughter of Leah Chase, one of the inspirations for Tiana, is shown recording her rendition of “Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans?”. This soundtrack features an all-new, original song crafted specifically for the attraction, along with fresh renditions of beloved classics from the Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film, The Princess and the Frog.

During a special preview of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, legendary musician Terence Blanchard shared his thoughts on the project. “Oh man, look, I have three girls. So Tiana’s been on my mind a great deal. And I’ve been in the film business for a number of years. To see my youngest daughter being really excited about a film I worked on when she was a little girl meant a lot to me. I remember the folks at Disney sent me some materials along with a CD, and she played that CD every day all day. So to think, to go from that to an actual physical ride that people can come and visit again and again, I think is amazing.”

He added, “It says a lot about Disney, it says a lot about where we are in the world, and it says a lot about what we’ve achieved, what people have been fighting for in terms of being equal in this country. And I think and I hope and pray that this is just the beginning of having more attractions to deal with more ethnic groups, gender equality, and all of those types of things, so we can really start to heal this country from the divisionary tactics that are being placed upon us right now.”
